Wait, buying BF3 from Origin only gets you 48 hours of beta prior to the game release?

Man I was about to pre-order BF3 on Origin but the store thinks I'm in Europe.

I'm nowhere near Europe

Yes we did get the shaft and it's bullshit. We were supposed to get early access to the beta. As in before anyone else not the same as anyone who ALSO pre orders the game.

No, you get early access before it is a public BETA. Doesn't mean there won't be other ways.

Do they offer the same pre-order as the UK? If so, you should totally take advantage of that!

Just got that email as well. Still doesn't make me want to preorder through Origin though...

Is there any way to get all the bonus kits at once on release day (specact kit, dog tags, physical warfare pack)?

Sound like "limited edition" means that what you get will be limited by where you buy it.

Thats an awesome effin deal. The people who dont want to get that just because its only origin and not steam are honestly fucking retarded. Just download it, get your free stuff and shut the fuck up already. Its just another application on your pc. Jesus christ.

I dont give a flying fuck what im playing BF3 on, just give me BF3!

That is not what we were lead to believe and you know it.

Did you major in revisionists history?

Read it again. You lead yourself to believe what you wanted to believe.

You get into the BETA if it starts within 12 months of MOH being released, and(exactly as worded) among the first to get hands-on with Battlefield 3. Know what 'among the first means?' I'll give you two hints, it does not mean the first or exclusive.

Know what I get? MOH free if I pre-order BF3 and early access to the BETA.

I just got that email too. I picked Dead Space 2. My brother really enjoyed it.

EA is doing everything they can to get people to use Origin. Finally got me to budge.

double post. oddly enough. this was the first one i made. hardforum laaaaggggg

well I ordered this morning! lol

No free game for me I guess...

(I'm talking about the alpha package, I just got the email as well)

Tomorrow I'll probably get the MOH + BF3 package. I know MOH is nothing amazing but the MP will at least be a little different (getting really sick of BC2 & Black Ops maps/guns)

Little by little Origin will gain ground. I would be surprised by the end of the year, they have 5-10M users.

Nah, just generic Europe I think. Already talked to customer support they said it's a billing problem, but they're aware of it and going to fix it, but no ETA.

I'm wanting to get on board with a BF3 pre-order as well -- sad that it's not coming to STEAM but it's not a deal breaker. I have 90% of my games bought through steam and it's my fave distribution system by far.

I have to decide whether I want to order through ORIGIN or Direct2Drive, or GameStop.

While direct2drive has the best price I've seen, the reviews of their support make me wary. GameStop ive never been a fan of in general (in real life or online)

I just actually bought bad company 2 (again) a few days ago and have been playing. I bought it when it initially came out for 60 bucks but wasn't "into" it at the time and got my money back via steam. Picked it up for 20 dollars at best buy and have been using it to get used to the play style of the battlefield games (been playing black ops far too long)

I know my chances of getting VIP or a beta code here in the coming month is pretty slim, it SOUNDS as if i order from ORIGIN I will get to enjoy some beta action?

Hell part of me is tempted to just pre order in a brick and mortar store so I don't have to fuss with downloading 8GB on my connection. (AT&T sucks)

One question in my mind -- does Origin do pre-loading like steam does? That's kind of a deal breaker there, if they don't even let you START downloading till the day of release. I'll be downloading for 5 hours while everyone else is playing online.

So let me get this right, If I preorder on or Origin I will get BF3 Beta Access and a free game?

You get beta access 48 hours before everybody else, and either a decent game, an average game or an outright turd of a game.

Yes to both. I can't remember where I read about the pre-loading thing, but I know they're going to do it with BF3.

I pre-ordered on tuesday and got the email about alpha trial people getting a free game with pre-order.. so I fired up EA chat. The guy said he couldn't do anything to give me the free game. But 30 seconds later he offered to cancel my existing pre-order so I could re-pre-order.

Seems to have worked. The game shows up and all.. just have to wait to see if they cancel the first transaction on my credit card.

Has their been any info about ranking system in BF3 and/or awards? I'd really like to see something like BF2 system brought back with actual ribbons, medals, and pins and being able to compare your soldier with other soldiers.

I wish they did a more realistic ranking system, based on time in game, overall points/experience, overall how "good" you are, and also require specific objectives to be completed such as getting some sort of ribbon or medal before you're promoted. I would love to see a bunch of Sergeants and Captains running around, with a handful of Majors, Colonels, and some rare (top world 100-200) Generals - rather than anyone who plays enough will achieve some arbitrary rank at some point and where most people are Generals or whatnot. Then have a system for the "top" rank; General of the [Branch], which only one person could hold at a time, and would have to fight to stay on top (ie. BF2S top 10).

Lol which would create people not playing with team work or the goal (winning the match, capturing the flag, destroying the objective) in mind, but in the specific things you need to accomplish to level up. Like "Oh man i really need to do _____ to get my last required Ribbon to get to my next rank" and so the whole match they are trying to do a...500 meter head shot for the "sharpshooter ribbon" or whatever so they can get rank __. It would create a bunch of task chasers. Everyones trying to do their current task to get the ribbon(s)/medal(s) they need to get to the next rank.

I still havent gotten the 25% off EA Gunclub email..im personally waiting until right before the end of the "free game Origin pre-order", if not still il just buy it for full cost. Unfortunately i own ME2 (LOVED it) and MOH (liked it), so il be getting Dead Space 2 for free, which i cant play cause it scares the s**t outta me. Oh well.

The trick to making Dead Space games non-scary is to (a) play NPR or mundane TV in the background or (b) dramatically reduce the volume. You'll be amazing how much of the scare factor is tied in with the sound.

But....what about the people that have already pre-ordered that were in the alpha....

They get a free game too.
I saw that new ad posted yesterday and talked to EA chat about not getting that bonus and they are now issuing a code to get one of those games if you were in the Alpha and already pre-ordered BF3 from Origin.
you should be getting an email this evening with the code.
