I went the home cinema route and its perfect. Make sure you have your sound card settings correct too before you open the game.

I don't think I was as I configured my joystick/KB/Mouse separately. But I'll give it another try tonight. Thanks for the suggestion. :p

I'm averaging 90FPS on ultra with 4xAA :p

What's the deal with War Tapes? I have Beyerdynamic DT770 headphones; what sound mode should I select? War Tapes sounds good but it's hard to locate positional audio.
 
That's my last unresolved issue. I want to use my middle mouse wheel button to jump and I will be in heaven but BF3 will not see it

weird, I didn't find it very hard to hit people with the sniper rifle, especially if you steady it. Takes a few shots to kill someone, unless it's a head shot with the first sniper rifle you get. On hardcore too, but yeah, recon is fun.

Also, I have the Back to Karkand pack, but I don't have the weapons for some reason :(
shit, nvm, amazon has only the dogtags lol. but I guess the 18 bucks I save will go to the physical warfare DLC

I used Headphone or Hi-Fi for my headphones...both seemed to have good directional sound.
 
Wartapes is over amplified BOOMY crap. Not good for positional audio. Select headphone and enhanced stereo or w/e that is for stereo headphones.

i'm not certain, but i think the 'enhanced stereo' option is sort of like a built in simulated surround (like CMSS3D, DH). the game sounds better to me with it off, but again i haven't messed with it much.

also the physical warfare pack has been unlocked for a while. Type88 LMG and DAO:

worked great last night
get home all pumped to play after work... I ket kicked out of every server after like 30-60 seconds

I'm not too frustrated... yet
 
I have a Saitek Cyborg X jotstick. I cannot get it to work with BF3. I go into the key bindings but when I try to bind joystick keys it behaves us if the stick is not hooked up to the computer. I get no response at all.
 
what weapons is everyone liking so far?
Ive been going with the scarh since I unlocked it. feels powerful and ive been doing well with it. sucks that there is limited weapon info.

Wrong. For single GPU really not much reason to run ultra, it just gives you a #11 option (1-10) so you can push your dual GPUs a "bit more".

"The shadows are a little bit sharper, the terrain is a little bit more tessellated. And also a big setting we have on Ultra is anti-aliasing. We use our multi-sampling there which is really memory-consuming and performance-consuming in general.

"It looks better but it's not a giant step in visual quality. So if you have a multi-GPU machine, like a dual 580 or a dual 560 for that matter, you can run Ultra at 60fps."

i thought BF2 looked great when it released. :D i remember having to upgrade my RAM from 512Kb to 1Gb.....or maybe it was from 1Gb to 1.5Gb

I truly have not had time to test out the audio. I will say that so far I am impressed with how it does directional sound. On my big speaker stereo, it throws sounds behind me, beside me etc. That is with two good speakers. A good sign imo.

Yes I noticed this and posted on this during the beta phase. It is VERY good with directional cues. I'd like some official explanation of the difference between Headphone and Stereo mode. Anyone have any links?
 
Yeah I wish there were more quantifiable stats to compare, at least something more akin to Bad Company 2 with the bars. Wanted to level Support first for all their toys, but I just find myself in situations where I need a rocket launcher and so I've fallen in love with the beginning Engineer guns...once again.
 
PC kept blue screening while playing, disabled HT and its been playing like a champ. Multiplayer is quite entertaining. glad they fixed squad management. still having some issues joining on friends. i have far better luck joining some random server my friends are not on. ok back to shooting :).
 
Got my Amazon Preorder at noon (physical disk) and have been playing since. Trying to get some support unlocks and getting my ass handed to me. lol.
 
How do you activate the physical warfare pack? I have the code from origin... do I need to put it in like a game code?
 
Got my hard copy preorder from Amazon and not even that has a booklet with a manual? WTF? Nice to have something to see the default controls....
 
I hope everyone enjoyed playing at parity last night - by tonight you'll spend half the game getting one shot killed halfway across the map by the guy who unlocked the UMP-45 this morning. Or with less sarcasm, I guess now we'll start to see how good the weapon balancing is.

You're surprised by this? I'm pretty sure paper manuals in PC games have been a thing of the past for some time now.

I can't wait to start raining down destruction with the attack heli...got stealth and heat seekers last night and it's ridiculous.
