Battlefield 2042

Some new details including AI/bots, and how robo dog will work.

So no possibility of playing offline with bots as it's online only. Weird. Wonder what the reasoning is (AI interfacing with the cloud?).

It remains to be seen how popular it will be in europe, my prediction is that it will not sell much, only later when prices drop significantly and when newcomers come to try it out.
If a real Bad Company 3 came out without bots and other nonsense then it would be a complete hit, they would earn billions on preorders in Europe.
The next battlefield must be for sure bad company 3, now they have mostly cracked everything with ww1 and ww2 and bf2042 battle royale.

absolutely delusional, lol.

I heard all of Europe is going to sit 2142 out and just go twinkle twinkle on the piano forte instead. I mean, why risk playing with bots when you can just play some twinkly piano forte?

Might be so. We will see. I am sure they will crack the game which will allow for it to work offline? Dunno. I am not code savvy.

If you have something against me feel free to ignore me, this is just my opinion considering what I read on the two main forums in Europe, only if they lie then I lie too... Secondly the game is not for the poor, you need a lot of money(pc hardware and peripherals),time and a good squad if you want to be competitive in the PC version of BF2042.

Like every Battlefield ever on PC? BF2 kicked my low end PC's ass back when it came out. My GTX 560 could only get 30-40 frame rates in BF3 with most settings turned down.

Link to forums? Proof of game not running well on pc too?

Also Battlelog was the best server browser they ever made by miles and everyone who didn't like it was wrong as fuck and should feel bad.

Battlelog was dog shit. Why the hell do I need to open a browser to join a game?

I'm going to assume you're young and don't remember the days when everything was contained inside a game. GameSpy in the 90's was an exception, because it arrived right at the infancy of online multiplayer games, before they got their shit together.

Here was my BF4 experience.
-> Launch browser
--> Go to battle log
---> Select server
----> Origin launcher has to start
-----> Then the game has to launch
-------> Play

Anyone who isn't part of the Fortnite generation knows that is way too many steps just to get into a game, especially compared to the old way, which was:

-> Launch game
--> Select server
---> Play

It was objectively shit, and I'm glad it's gone. Now we just need to destroy launchers.

I hate that battle log BS too.
Fortnite people wouldn't put up with it either though. Fortnite is even more streamlined. You simply launch the game then click play.
That actually seems to be what most new games aim to do. I don't know why Battlefield wanted to make it more complicated.

You must be new to PC gaming. What you're describing here is called matchmaking, where you have no control over the server to select. Many old school PC gamers hate this. Many of us WANT the ability to browse servers, see the latency as well as # of players and select the one we want to join.

No I'm not, I also like the ability to pick a server.

The trend for modern games is to make it even easier to get into games, and the good ones have done that while also retaining the options to manually browser for servers, custom games, etc.
For example at the game screen you click the big play button to instantly jump into a game, or you click the browse servers button, have the ability to filter and sort, and see all the details you want before joining the game. Mordhau does this well, it's the perfect example of classic PC multiplayer gaming with modern elements.

I want to join from the game itself with the ability to change my settings, group up with friends etc. before joining a server of my choosing or simply use matchmaking. Not fucking install some stupid browser addon, browse a game there, have the web browser launch the game, get thrown into a game where I haven't been able to adjust my settings yet etc.

Matchmaking isn't in itself bad, it's the lack of a server browser as an option that's so infuriating.

The last two BF games the server browser was a HTML click on image Dumpster fire unless you go advanced settings you could sorta choose it.
I always was choose Chuck Norris training ground for BF3.

I agree, no reason they can't implement both

That said, I can somewhat understand why they would do that in games like Warzone where you're limited to 4 man squads. You can get 16 of your closest friends, all join the same server and decimate everyone else then take turns on who's the last squad standing to pad your stats.

Looks like the new mode has leaked a bit early, called portal. Sounds very interesting

Leak info

Created by Ripple Effect Studios, a EA subsidiary formerly known as DICE Los Angeles, Battlefield Portal will allow users to play new Battlefield modes built by DICE and community-made modes curated by DICE. Players will also be able to build game modes of their own without ever leaving Battlefield 2042

In an interview with Game Rant, Ripple Effect Studios general manager Christian Grass said that Portal will offer content from multiple different Battlefield games. Players will be able to use weapons, vehicles, gadgets, and even maps from Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3 to build their own creations. Since these games are several years old, Ripple Effect Studios has rebuilt and updated their assets for Portal.

Yes Portal looks insane. Jack Frags was given some behind the scenes on Portal which goes way more in depth on what can be done.

you're just adding steps that involved zero human interaction to make it sound worse

the entire process was
- find server in Battlelog that looked good
- click it, and press alt tab when it said it was done

you probably expended more effort adjusting your nuts while the game loaded than you did getting to that point.

want to change servers? alt-tab and click a new one. holy fuck.

Hmm. If the server browser is in game mixed with this I have inkling's of interest for the first time since BF2 replaced Desert Combat and quickly fizzed due to key mapping and wide screen support issues lol. Good to see some deeper thought put into it that may let the game see proper support and activity for a few years. If so I may bite.

Battlelog was great. I'd like to see it return, but without requiring a browser. It could just be a server browser that works like Battlelog. Game isn't fully running so it isn't using heat and making it hard to do anything else while waiting for a server. Just gave a GUI that shows all the servers and same options that Battlelog did. When it connects to a server, it launches the main game just like Battlelog.

Looks like the closest thing we will get to mods, sad state of affairs but better than nothing.

Yeah but that's a pretty damn cool mod plus it's supported right out of the gate.

The value in this game is gonna be insane and should keep the community going for many years. I don't know how they can top this in future Battlefield games.

Agreed...with being able to adjust HUD elements, bullet damage, speeds, regens etc. we will actually be able to create an even more hardcore, hardcore mode like realism. Buddy of mine was big into BF4 Hardcore mode so being able to set your own rules and create a dedicated server that can be filled with bots until populated is like a dream come true.

I imagine we will eventually end up with alot of maps and almost be able to play completely remastered versions of the past games. The shelf life of this game could be infinite if Dice LA can keep the maps rolling in. How awesome would it be to have a BF3 army fight against a 2142 team with future vehicles? This gonna be the shit!

i didn't even have to open Origin nor the game because I was out there in my flying car like it was the Jetsons, looking down at the pathetic, pedestrian masses below.

everything was done for me like a loyal butler - and I didn't even need to close my reddit, porn, or news tabs/windows. their Megamind looking engineers already thought of that and were one step ahead.

a couple mouse clicks to get to Battlelog, it
already had my favorite servers right there, I click join, go finish jerking it, then once I'm ready, fold up my metaphorical newspaper, take a swig of coffee, and press alt-tab.

Thats because fortnite is a BR. you can't have a server browser in those games. battlelog had a quick launch button anyway so no idea what you're talking about. people had favorite servers with certain settings they like to play in.

There ARE extra steps, you're being dishonest.Not to mention Battlelog required additional plugins just to work, and would frequently glitch out for people. Even if there weren't more steps, how do you justify running a game AND a browser just to do something that was always done within the game itself?

Maybe if you stopped adjusting your nuts so much, you'd get your head out of your ass and see that more is not the same as less.
Doesn’t have to be justified. Time to upgrade from that 4gb of ram and you’ll be alright.
