Gotta say the gun master mode running in Portal right now is pretty fun. A lot of it is luck, get unlucky with spawns a couple lives in a row and it's hard to catch up but still fun. I almost won the last round but someone got the last kill right before me

Gun Mode is my all time favorite in any FPS game. COD wasn't bad, but the SBMM killed it for me.

It's a scriptable customizable mode in BF 2042 that includes six maps + weapons from past games too.

The game is garbage anyways. If it's ever good it won't be for another 1-2 years minimum. It's not the workers fault that management made awful design decisions.

No doubt about that. Just so many dumb things about this game. So I am searching for a server. I am checking out how to unlock things for vehicles and weapons and it takes me into a server. Cool, game is starting right? Nope. So now it sits here "waiting for players" for minutes. If it was going to take 5+ minutes to find a server just let me continue looking at all the unlocks, attachments and what they do while I wait.

I've still only seen 3 of the 2042 maps yet.

You likely need to turn crossplay back on to get any decent amount of players. If it's on and you still aren't getting anything.. Yeah. The game is pretty much already dead on PC. Most console players turn crossplay off for obvious reasons.

I have crossplay on. I have the same luck as OutofPhase. I sat in a "waiting for players" screen for close to 15 minutes today. Most of the recorded play time on Origin is me sitting in menus.

Probably a combination of both. But still there would at least be ~20K players. Previous BF games easily kept 30K players years after release, often on one platform.

I'm sure total numbers outside of Steam are higher, of course. However, it's pretty pitiful that a number of indie titles are above 2042 at this point in time.

Rush is fun. You will stay either def or attack if you don't back out after each round though. Don't just let it auto join the next round.

Game was mismanaged badly and is def on life support already. I didn't have any issue getting a game of rush though. Which is 16v16.

There are some good bones here. Portal and hazard zone could still be wins.

I get the waiting for players occasionally. I'm on the east coast. what you describe sounds more severe

why would it matter? especially since the game is in first person? the only time you see your specialist is on loading screens. thats the thing that makes specialists specialists, each one has a unique ability.

also, I don't see the point of buying character skins or caring about them for a first person shooter anyway. weapon skins, yes. you see those. even in warzone, hardly anyone buys the character skins, they buy the battle pass and get them along with weapons skins. half the people in warzone have the same dark skins for the competitiveness.

Whatever their patch did clearly didn't fix the ability to properly join games. Considering they're taking 6 weeks off with the game in this bad of a state, I don't see it lasting long. Seems like a large amount of the player base just can't get into a game 9/10 times. Unless they fix something fast this game is done.

No. It needs a lot of fixing. Even Rush, which is the most stable mode. Has a bunch of annoying things wrong with it. ADS bug, loopping sounds that don't go away until you die, jumping bug, issues with joining as a group. I mean, it's playable for the most part but then breakthrough and all out war just aren't much fun atm. Only a few maps and you have no choice as to which one etc etc. So yeah. Rush is ok and warzone too if you have a squad in voice coms. Solo? Ugh.

IMO bf5 Pacific is more fun. Tired of bf4 and 3 still has that damn suppression.

I'm a middle aged 6'4 red meat eating, oatmilk latte drinking, straight male that has been with the BF series since day one 1942......and am stuck playing with Sundance because its (not assuming its gender, pre-op / post-op, non-binary sexual orientation) is the only option with wingsuit. I don't mind playing games with a "disenfranchised" avatar as long as it is not politically correct bullshit crammed down my throat trying to re-engineer "bad think."

All of the specialist avatars in 2042 are horrendous...all of them, with the sundance, grandma paramedic and asian lady with flappy robo vagina on her forehead being the most cringe for me. The politically correct woke bullshit they have been stuffing in Battlefield since BF1 has been horrendous and if there were another option that would take us back to the grass roots of the series I would take my money over there.

You know GTAV let us customize our avatar....and you know what mine is? A hot ass female scantly clad shakin dat ass and being easy on my eyes....so I am doing my part to be inclusive in video games and fix the world....don't need a developer to hold my hand on that.

The first game 1942, had so much more depth then everything that followed...even my beloved BF3.

The Naval battles, the air maps like coral sea, teamwork with artillery's + spotting, epic tank battles.....the 9700pro + 9800pro being absolute beasts giving
you liquid smooth FPS on your pure sex motion clarity CRT.

I don't mind specialists/hero if they are done well. Siege did a good job with most of them until recently. That game jumped the shark cosmetics wise after a few years but initially they made the operators unique and had a variety of skins while sticking to a military theme.

The specialists in this game just look like garbage. It's like they avoided the typical soldier build and gave us everything else under the sun but none of them really look good. Too bad this is the way going forward.

Also the physics on Sundance look terrible. They should have enabled normal fall physics and made landing skill based, or with a parachute to balance it out. Landing behind the enemy face first after falling hundreds of feet and surviving is just wrong.

You can read Steam reviews, Reddit, this thread a few posts above yours, check youtube videos. It shouldn't be this common to be unable to get into a match.

For its time BF1942 was mindblowing...nearly 20 years ago young whippet snapper. And yes it had depth and innovations that have been severely dumbed down in "modern" fps for the filthy casuals and drooling console knuckle draggers..

And why did I buy it? Cause it was too late to get a refund.....and there is always hope they fix it...besides there is nothing else to compete...cod is boring, pubg is ruined, tarkov requires a 40 hour work week commitment, fortnight is kiddy trash, overwatch is hero zippy trash, apex is lame....am I missing anything? Halo infinite maybe? Halos actually not terrible this time around, I'm enjoying the campaign even though it's clear master chief is a masogenist heterosexual body shaming bigot of narcissism!

I don't think my criticism is too much to ask. Scrap the shitty specialist pre-made characters and let us character create our own....or ya know at the very least give us like 100+ more character options....game only cost ninety fucking dollars...and throw in more maps as 7 is pathetic and portal is weak.

Come to think of it, a defining GI Joe title, like if Battlefield had been rebooted with the GI Joe I.P. and the game was set in that universe, AND under the right project leadership with strict adherence to technical excellence - and no "creativity" or crowbarred inclusiveness for the sake of inclusiveness - seems like it could be the kind of game that would rain money on the publisher forever.
