BATTLEFIELD 1

Ah you are talking HC. I've tried it in BF4 and some friends like to play more that, but it's not my cup of tea. Maybe that's why we have such different experience with the game.
I know this game can be quite different from previous BF's in some ways but, at least to me, that's a good thing. Gives us variety. If I ended up not liking this, I would have BF4 to play.

Thanks for taking the time to post this, encouraging to hear about what is coming down the pipe for BF1. I've been having fun lately where if I am in a squad without helpful people I play light flanker tank and support captures/defends from mid-range. If I have helpful squad mates I will spawn either the tank hunter landship (if enemy armour is around) or breakthrough heavy tank. Those things, especially the tank hunter landship are absolutely deadly if you have good side gunners and keep range.

If DICE would just fix private servers so we could have consistent players/communities like SEC8 then I would be 100% into the game. Right now it's such a crapshoot if you get a squad that is PTFO and almost no one uses VOIP still.
 
I think I set my filter to hard core accidentally. Looking through the filter I could not find an option to enable/disable it? Or maybe the only server up last night happened to be HC. I did like the weapon damage in HC, but didn't like the other changes. Unless the filters are screwy I am finding more active servers in BF4 conquest than BF1. I wish Battlelog was back for this title.
 
^^^ Ya. I was really looking forward to getting away from battlelog until I used the BF1 server browser. HC was the only mode I found remotely tolerabel.. and last time I logged some time back I could not find any full servers to play on.
 
They want you to use quickmatch so they gimped the server browser. Use quickmatch and you should get a game. It's not like there are any privately run servers anymore.
 
Sometimes I hate this game. I always record my games and I like to review the video whenever something that makes me yell "BS" happens. And this time I was right!

In what world is this not a hit? To be fair, I did die as I was shooting him, but I clearly got the shot off before dying. Dude had 20 health left, I hit him with a *POINT BLANK* shotgun blast. NOT A HIT. Ridiculous...

BF4 had the same issue. It works better now on BF4 than it did i the past. Not nearly as wonky as bf1 though.
 
Is it perhaps that the game invalidates projectiles when you die? Perhaps I died right before the shotgun pellets hit him. Is it possible for two players to kill each other at the same time in this game?
 
This is more likely a lag-induced mismatch on your end; what you see and what your opponent sees (and what you see your opponent seeing) are all fractionally different because you're both talking to the server at the same time, and what counts is what the server sees.

In this case you could be dead per the server before your shots were fired, or your opponent could not be in front of your shot according to the server. Best way to avoid this happening is to use high tic-rate servers, but I can't comment on how to do that in BF1 (it was a common thing in BF4 and was usually listed as part of the servers name).

That's exactly what it is. It's been an issue with all DICE games with the Frostbite engine. It was even worse in older titles like BC2 and BF3. BF4 was by far the worst at this up until the CTE started fixing things and they began tweaking the server refresh rate. BF4 in 21016 before BF1 release was probably the most polished of any in the series.

Unfortunately, DICE has a remarkable habit of creating major revisions of the DICE game engine that seem to roll back the clock on bugs and fixes 2-3 years every single time they release a new game. Always 2 steps forward 1 step back with them.

Can the new weapons be used in vanilla maps?

Will it be hard to find populated games with the new maps?

Considering buying this, but $50 is steep for a map pack.
 
new update looks very cool, may be the first dlc I purchase for a game in years (think my last one was reaper of souls lol)

You know I reinstalled BF4, BF3, and Bad Company 2 because I am so underwhelmed with BF1.

Had fun playing Noshar Canals and I was surprised that for BC2 there was a lot of people playing over the weekend and even yesterday afternoon. I think people are returning to the game. Even the Vietnam expansion had a server that stayed full for the entire time I was on. Playing Operation Hastings was a blast and firing the MG on the huey just felt much better than the later games.
 
New maps are pretty awesome. I had a blast in the fort one. Nice to have a mostly indoor map.

The new elite class is funny. Constant grunting as he swings his weapon. :D

I was wondering why the game looked aliased as hell- though I dismissed it as a settings issue due to running with settings set to performance in GE to maintain >100FPS.

Edit: nevermind, the game was set to no AA at all, which had the same effect. Moving to FXAA Medium wasn't too much of a hit and took the edge off.

It's hella fun :D used yesterday for a good run, maybe 10/15 kills with it and they were so satisfying. I had teammates telling me that it runs faster than soldier sprint and it looks badass :p
My doom was trying it against a rider just to see who would win. Not me haha

So I bought the premium pass last night and had a blast, played for about 2 hours. 1 hour in frontlines and that game can be very nerve wracking back and forth but super fun then jumped into operations and man that new behemoth tank is very cool and seems actually well balanced, Its going to be one of those things that are very reliant on a good driver. Started working on the scout and support class dlc weapons, got the headshots done very quickly for the scout one, now im just working on the flare and periscope spots and the infantry gun kills lol.

Still enjoying the hell out of the game, had premium since day 1 but I'm having trouble finding ANY populated conquest servers on the westcoast with the new maps.

They are all literally 0/64 all the way down, anything with 20-30 ping is empty and when it hits 85-90 pings, the servers are populated. WTF is going on?

have you tried the quick play? I thought the server browser had issues where it wouldn't display all the servers, unless this has been fixed?

No, have not tried that but I was not aware of server browser issues. Well, that might explain this garbage.
 
haha so tried out frontlines again last night and ended up in a match that lasted 79 minutes :p It was so evenly split between each side that it was a constant tug of war, we managed to get all the way to their telegraphs and destroyed B, only to have them rally and push us all he way to our telegraphs and destroy A. Then we pushed them back to the center for an hour until we managed to push through and win, it was such a long game but so much fun, finished the match with something like 100:30 using my scout and support class.

So far every game of frontlines I played has lasted 8-15 minutes. I need to find more balanced games.

That being said, it is INTENSE. So many people concentrated on one objective.

I don't understand how people have like 40 kills and 3 deaths. It absolutely baffles me. I die at every corner I turn. :(

haha very nice! I love that there is no ticket system in frontlines so an even match lasts forever. Reminds me of vanilla WoW and AV where 1 match could last 8-30 hours and was incredibly epic when you finally won or lost lol

It's simple. Check your corners before you go around them. Know the maps so you can anticipate where someone will be firing at you from.

Easier said than done... The sheer number of players means they are everywhere. Behind me, in front of me, on the sides of me. There's only so many degrees I can cover by myself, but I suppose that's where having a good squad comes in.
 
Just tried a plane for the first time. There was a bomber dominating my team so I figured I could kamikaze into it to take it out. To my surprise, flying into it did nothing but bounce me off of it. Is that a joke? I had to rage quit because of the ridiculousness of what just happened.
