980 Ti

Just got my 980 Ti installed. I've been using AMD R9 290X crossfire with my ROG Swift for the last year so I've never been able to use 144Hz or GSYNC.

Holy shit.

Um, and why couldn't you use 144hz? I have a BenQ XL2730Z with 290x crossfire and 144hz works fine.

No idea. Tried 3 different DP cables, all <6 ft as per ASUS recommendation, including the included cable as well as a Monoprice and an Accell. None worked at 144hz.

With the ROG Swift you can't use ULMB, 144hz or (obviously) GSYNC on AMD cards. So I was limited to 120hz - not that it's a big difference, but it's a little smoother. But wow, GSYNC is pretty awesome.

Damn, I placed the order but then realized, I want similar cards. What the fudge with limit 1 per customer. It is making me go bonkers on newegg.com.

Amazon are pricks for not having stock. Only 2 sites I use to buy stuff. Grrr...

Are people still ordering cards today? Thought if you have waited this long might aswell wait another day to see how the Fury X does?

a month passed and custom 980 tis are still hard to get in the EU, now just imagine how it will be with Fury X availability. Even amd own benches show more or less a tie with a 980 ti

The only reason im waiting is because on 25. ichills arrive:D

Just bought a 980ti today after seeing the early benchmarks from shadow of mordor. Coming from dual 6950 it should be one hell of an upgrade. Decided against the fury because of no dual link dvi and wasnt trying to mess with adapters. This way I can put the card in and plug my monitor right into it. Havent had an nvidia card since the 8800gts 320mb so im rather excited.

This is my first Nvidia card since Ti4200. Enjoy!

Now thats a name I have not heard in a long time...... a long time.

4K still isn't ready for prime time honestly, the lack of real hardware and connection options along with buggy drivers makes this at least 2 years away from being mainstream.

I just upgraded from 1200p to 1440p so i'm happy enough for awhile.

I totally disagree with you. I am playing 4K completly fine with a 5930K @ 4.4 GHz and 2x MSI GTX 980 Gamings. DAI and other games @ max detail and I run around 50 fps with occasional dips to 30 fps so it is very playable, and it is going to be even better when I get dual Fury Xs or 980 Ti's in the next few weeks.

With the rite hardware 4K is definatly great rite now, otherwise I don't think they would bother making so many new 4K hardware and monitors.

I disagree. I'm extremely happy with 4k right now. It just takes a lot of muscle. That, by itself, though may keep it from prime time you might say.

I think the gist is that SLI isn't really mainstream, so 4K isn't prime time (as it really needs SLI muscle). Whereas 2560 *has* been conquered by single cards.

Anyone know if Bestbuy will carry the custom boards? I have 250 in gift cards but don't really want the EVGA.

i think if you can get a couple hundred from your 780 then i would go for it. i would get maybe get the fury x but i have a asus swift, so i think its a 980ti hydro copper for me.

i just sold my second 980, now I am using my wifes 480 (and it doesnt have a display port, so i am also using my wifes old 16inch monitor).

LOL! i will fall in love with my pc all over again when i can dump this shit hahaha!

Sell the gift cards...

I can save the gift cards. I'm holding out for a place with no tax though. Newegg is 60 bucks tax for Californians. I've waited 3 weeks... I can hold on for one more. First custom boards from Tigerdirect or B&H and I'll jump on it, MSI or Giggabyte, don't care.

That's fine, but a lot of us don't consider 30-50fps playable.

I'm not willing to turn down settings, and I'd rather have 60+ fps. 1440p is the current sweet spot. I'll let other people be early adopters for 4K.

AMP! edition

51 mhz above reference clocks

Hexus posted a nice review of it. Supposedly they got a nice overclock out of it. Only thing is the fans don't turn off at low load and apparently it's not very quiet, so with 2 of them in my case it will probably be pretty loud. That price tho- and they're a decent company.

Another idiotic reviewer who cant state what the actual in game boost was after overclocking the card.

My slightly turned down settings on a 40" 4K monitor looks miles better than your maxed settings on a 27" 1440p monitor.
I rather be the early adopter. Not to mention my productivity is on steroids.

More pixels of lower image quality != miles better.
You have to DEGRADE the visual I.Q in order to play at 4K.
The word "degrade" is not positive FYI.

Try again.

If it is for productivity, by all means have it, I probably would have done the same.

For strictly gaming, I found there were too many unsolvable problems at 4k (both practical and personal taste) that I had deliberately avoided it.

It won't be at least volta until I reevaluate the position again, and I would definitely require perfect pixel mapping for half resolutions as one of the major factors.
