3DMark11 Score

I just received a version of 3dmark11 with a graphics card. I plan to see how my purchase choice of a 570 compares to 6970s after I complete building our pc.

That's considerably higher than I got with two 6970s and an i5 @4.1. Are those 6950s unlocked/overclocked?

I get crappy scores. Overall the card is 10% faster than my GTX 460. I already bought another 6950, but I am considering returning both cards and buying a second GTX 460.

Q9550 @ 3.6
6950 with 6970 bios and 890/1325

Graphics score in any review I read is easily over 5000. I have a fresh installation of windows 7 too. I have no idea why it is low.

CPU bottleneck detected. Run some actual games and I'm willing to bet you'll see a lot more than a 10% increase (it should be 40%, and 170% with crossfire, 45-50% CF vs 460SLI)

I am thinking I may run a battery of tests with my old card vs new card.

The 460 is a 1GB version @ 815/1925 OCCT stable.

Well, then unless you overclock the 6950 as well, the most you should have expected is a 15-20% gain.

The single one is overclocked. It should be as fast as a 6970 since it has the 6970 bios. Instead it is slightly slower than your average 6950. Shaders and speeds are confirmed in GPU-z. Prior to the bios flash I got 4300 at stock 6950 in 3dmark11.

I am downloading benchmarks now.

I will be running Metro 2033, Lost Planet 2, Aliens VS Predator, FFXIV, Resident Evil 5, Uningine Heaven, and 3dmark11.

I guess it is more than 10%. Some things are only 10%, but others are much higher. Oddly, resident evil 5 is lower on the faster card. Seems like if I want to keep playing at max rez on the 30 inch monitor I need the greater amount of memory.

It looks like based on unengine benchmark and 3dmark11, I am looking at a 35% increase in performance which is right where I expected it to be before I bought the card. All is good and I can rest easy now.

Pardon my newbness and a bit of off topicness. Can you please point me in the direction of how you are overclocking the 6950s past 840? Or are you using a 6970 bios?

Yes, I'm using XFX 6970 BIOS.

Q6600 @ 3.3GHz
MSI 6950 unlocked to 6970 @ 950 x 1401

I'm using Afterburner to OC the card and 950MHz is the max on that slider. The latest version still isn't out, so I don't know if they will allow for higher OC on the core and will provide voltage adjustments, but I've made it this far with nothing more than the BIOS flash.

I'm pretty sure my numbers are being held back by my CPU.

To the guys getting low scores, make sure that you shut down any unnecessary processes/services prior to starting your run.

yeah 570's with i7's score much higher than mine i would guess but hey its higher than stock 580's. i could overclock more but i was shooting for stock 580 performance. Edit- After checking this thread i see i got one of the highest 570 scores and beat 6970's by 200-600 pts. Even the post before me was a 580 and sandybridge that my 570 is a few points higher than. Yet you singled my post out?

Oh hell yes! Much appreciated!

Gahhhhhh! I just downloaded and tried and it says the program is the wrong version for my Windows. I'm running Vista 64-bit, so I'm thinking this is only compatible with 32-bit versions?

OK, downloaded from a different source, and the file now installs. I do get voltage control, but do you have any idea if they are going to make it so the core clock slider goes past 950MHz? I've already reached that (the max supported) and may only need the voltage support if I can get more OC headroom. Oh well, this is still better, and I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Have you enabled unofficial overclocking in Afterburner?

I am sitting at a nice 4GHz now. and don't able to get 5k afterward, but damn close, i got P4927. I ended up having to bump my video card a little higher to get the score that i wanted.

Updated new drivers. I somehow scored lower.

With 850 core, when tested with 260.99 drivers, I score this .
With the new 266.58, I just got lower.

At 900 core:
Old Driver: ~6600
New Driver: ~6200

Rig in sig minus the 9800gtx+ in physx..will add that back in later and run again..... http://3dmark.com/3dm11/460098

The one thing pissing me off is that I have paid version yet it says I can not store more than one score with free version. Well better pissed off than pissed on I guess.

Back to the land of totally abuse 3dmark scores for geforce owners I see :p
Someone should make a bias free synthetic one of these days!

When you look at 3d11 scores AMD/Nvidia cards at stock line up right where they are in benchmarks. Its seems Nvidia gets better gains from overclocking. My 570 gains 600-800 points on a light-moderate overclock. My 6870/old 6950 gain 200-400 on a light-moderate overclock. Same thing with the Mafia 2 bench, Arma2 bench, Batman bench, and Streetfighter 4 bench. They are the only ones I tested when I had all cards. Overclocking my 6870 gets me almost nowhere and the 6950 wasnt much better.
