2017 LG OLED

Anyone else use their C7 with a NVIDIA GPU? I'm running into the darnedest issue with drivers this summer.

To use HDR in Windows 10, you must move the "HDR and advanced color" slider to "On" under display settings. Except when I do that, it just instantly slides right back to "Off".

Now I would naturally conclude that having my display at Output Color format of "RGB", Output Color depth of "8 bpc" and Output dynamic range of "Full", would prevent that.

In the spring, I use to be able to chance the output color format to 4:2:2, then chance the color depth to 10 or 12 bits to allow HDR. But those settings no longer exist. When switching to YCbCr 4:2:2 now, only 8-bit color depth is the sole option, not allowing HDR to turn on. 4:2:0 also neither shows up.

NVIDIA control panel sees my display as "LG Electronics LG TV".

Has anyone else have problems with their NVIDIA GPU, Windows 10 and HDR? If you have a NVIDIA GPU connected to your LG OLED, could you test this?

Why does 4:2:0 not show up, nor why does 10 or 12 bit color not show up under 4:2:2?

Also in device manager, does your LG OLED show up as "Generic PnP Monitor"?

Seems to work fine on mine. When I turn HDR on and manually set to 4:2:2 & 12 bit it even pops up with the little HDR sign on top right of screen. My desktop looks like crap though and text is crazy soft so I never run like that. If there are settings to clean it up that would be great. I'm on 384.94 so it might be your driver. My device manager shows same Generic PnP Monitor. Is your input configured as PC?

I've been seriously researching to buy a 65" LG Oled and my primary concerns are gaming latency. Of course, the image quality is amazing, but with my Xbox one X arriving November 7th, it's time to get a 4k TV. I currently use a 70" Vizio M series (1080) which has been great for gaming on Xbox one, and I'm pretty sure the latency is higher than 21ms on these new 2017 models.

Looks like all 2017 models use the same panels, and processors. The difference between B7, C7, E7 etc is purely cosmetic. E7 has built in forward facing sound bar for instance.
Attaching a very informative thread that hopefully helps others in the same position as me.

Costco has the B7 with free 5 year warranty for $2999. It's a lot of money, just hope I'm not disappointed by any impending updates in technology such as HDMI 2.1 - I need this set to last at least 3 years before buying a new one at this price!

Thanks for checking! It seems for some reason something is preventing 10 and 12 bit color from being select-able at 4:2:2 (and no 4:2:0 option either). This is over many months worth of new/different drivers. LG OLED of course is set to PC with HDMI deep color selected as I normally run 4:4:4 4K 60 Hz. I wonder if my Win 10 is bugged. Considering new drivers don't change anything, I wonder if a Win 10 re-install is the only option. Here is the drop down:

Found the problem. For those that have more than 1 HDMI device (such as I have an Oculus Rift and LG OLED TV), this requires you to use a Displayport to HDMI 2.0 adapter.

The odd thing is the adapter allows 4:4:4 4K at 60 Hz (the most bandwidth demand) to pass through to the TV, but not lower chroma signals. Very strange.

I reversed the adapter so that now the LG OLED is plugged into the HDMI port and everything is working normally. The Rift is now plugged into the adapter.

I think it's Rift. I have second hdmi connected device which is a receiver that acts as a sound card receiving audio from NVidia graphics card and from the TV, and the 4:2:2 is available for me with 10 or 12 bits. As well as 4:2:0 option.
Nvidia CP reads it as a 1080p display.

Can anyone here confirm if the B7A (Not B7P) has the same SoC, or at least same input lag as the rest of the lineup? Massdrop has it as an active drop atm and I am so tempted to replace my B6 with it lol.

I just bought that B7A from Massdrop. It may not be top of the line, but it's close enough and a pretty good deal at $1600 shipped.

I'm not sure whether or not the B7, E7, and C7 are the same, but I know that input lag is indeed 21ms on the C7. And that's more than enough for anything but professional (as in, it's your source of income) gaming.

There all basically the same internal components. B7 no atmos, E7 built in soundbar. Some cosmetic differences with the bezels.

The C7 is the better model though isnt it? Taking price out of the equation.

From my understanding, with the 2017 models, the B7 and C7 have the same panel and image quality - the difference is in the built-in sound.

Right. I got the B7 from Massdrop and bought a good 2.1 audio system that will sound better than anything the C7 can offer.

Got my LG 55" B7A OLED from Massdrop all set up. Still need to tweak the settings, but it looks pretty amazing! Gotta clean up the wires, too.

My 65" Sony X850B was struck by lightning recently, and I was really hoping that the repair cost would help me talk my wife into letting me get an OLED, fortunately , and unfortunately the board was an easy and fairly cheap fix. I guess I will continue to watch to see if OLED makes a dramatic price drop.

Wait to they get 4k at 120fps and 4k at hdr at 4:4:4.
The motion resolution is so much better at 120fps

Just triple cheking before plunging on black friday deal: is the LG B7 Ok as PC monitor? at $1499 it is very close to what i consider a fair TV price.

From rtings you should be fine - http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/b7-b7a-oled

Of all the review sites for AV I trust them the most. Anyone out there looked at the difference between the B and C? I went online after Thanksgiving dranksing intending on buying xmas gifts for friends and family and woke up with a 65" b7 this morning I'm supposed to go pick up! Don't need the audio features of the C with my home theater, but just curious if the C panel is truly any better - what I have gathered this morning is they are nearly identical. the B would have to beat a JS9500 panel which I think it will, but if I'm going to spend a couple grand...

B7 is the C7 with a different stand and silver bezel instead of black.

Any mentions of "panel differences" I've read across the internet have been no more than theories and speculation.

Enjoy your new TV. I bought the B7 a couple of weeks ago and it's incredible. You have nothing to worry about. :)

Awesome. Thanks man. Reaffirming what I had been reading; figured B and C were the same panel and wasn't going E. My wife is not happy with me, but at the Best Buy price it wasn't that big of a purchase - got a little buyers remorse I didn't go with the C after doing it since I was still going to be raked over the coals either way.

Now I just have to find a damn friend with an SUV awake at this time of the morning to go pick it up from the warehouse. BTW loved my JS9500 but soooooo many little issues with it this had to be done! It'll be interesting to see how "entry level high end" 2017 OLED compares to flagship 2015 LED.

Heh, I upgraded from a JS9000 myself. I've been using it as my PC monitor since early/mid 2015.

The differences with the OLED are striking. Blacks like I've never experienced, no PWM, no discernable motion blur, lower input lag, 120Hz at 1080p is a sweet bonus, no external OneConnect box to worry about, etc.

The JS9000 was great, but OLED takes things to another level. It boggles my mind that I paid $600 less for the OLED, and it's both better and larger in size. I know that's how things work in the tech realm, but it's still hard to believe.

I bought a 9000 and ended up swapping for the 9500 to get the full array as the panel I got had terrible edge bleeding figuring that the full array would fix that. Love the 9500 but the oneconnect has HDMI pairing issues and will black out as well as seems to run hot. I'm super pumped to grab the TV - just have to find a friend with a damn truck today!

Huh...I didn't have any edge bleeding but FALD is nice for sure. The fact that the 9500 was only offered in the larger sizes ruled it out for me since I was going to be using it as a monitor instead of a TV. The LG is larger than I'd prefer, but the image quality is so incredible that I'm willing to deal with it. :)

That's a great point about the OneConnect box! I've seen several people mention the issues with their Samsung TVs going black momentarily, and I've certainly experienced it myself but I never attributed the HDMI handshake issues to the OneConnect. Now that you mention it, I don't think I've had a single instance of the LG blanking out like that!

On certain devices (xbox one/one X especially) it would not come back up unless I pulled the HDMI out and re-paired. Thought it was my Denon receiver so swapped for an Adventage and same shit. Great concept on Samsung's part, but horrible execution at least from my experience.

I have the LG sitting in my great room still covered and am giddy waiting to unsheathe this guy, it's so thin!! - have to move the js95 and get the stand on the LG so in a holding pattern until my wife gets home from running around. Stupid black friday. Anticipation is killing me!

edit: The JS9000 was fantastic too - but I throw my TVs thru the ringer when I first get them. Edge light bleed was happening even at 10 backlight. the FALD corrected it, but with what I've read about single pixel dimming on these LG OLEDs... can't wait.

It's soo good. Mwahahaha.../rubs hands together

Did you try getting the OneConnect box for your JS swapped out? I never had the signal drop and not come back on its own a second or two later. Not that it matters much now, just curious.

I held onto the JS9000 for the full return period before swapping it out - it was happening with that as well. On both panels it had trouble keeping up with game mode too (red bars and the "psychedelic effect" occasionally). The research I've done says neither of the issues are uncommon. Sammy just tried to pack to much into that TV. I assume that's why the 2016/17 KS models are basically gimped JS.

I really like the TV and wanted to love it, and I'm still a little afraid of the brightness on OLEDs - last night watching the Stranger Things finale the flashlights hurt my eyes - plan to rewatch it once my wife gets home to help me unpack this thing!

After about 7 hours of marathon viewing... it's better than the js9500. Brightness of no concern, it's producing much higher levels in hdr than I expected. Rewatched stranger things episodes and going to hit up planet earth ultra blu ray tonight. Haven't gamed on it yet or daylight viewing, busting out the wheel and some 4k forza right now. Menu operation in game picture setting is at least snappy!

I've been using my B7A for almost a week now and it's been awesome. I would say the image quality, although subtle, has improvement over my B6P. Unfortunately for me personally 55 inches is still too big for a daily driver PC monitor use. I'll be waiting for a 40 inch before I use one as a monitor.
