Sounds like a "hot" title for IT Helpdesk/Support/Technician
By hot I mean that the word "engineer" is a buzz word in many industries and sub industries so it helps spread attention a little faster than your normal run of the mill "IT Support" job title
Ive seen "Support Engineer" for an...
Did you click the picture? Might want to try doing that before you bash him for posting this. HINT - Look at the right hand side of the picture.
As someone with a mid 2010 MBP I would contest that comment. I have an i7 dual core with 8gigs of ram (maxed it aftermarket). If i were to kit out the new rMBP right now it would be a substantially more powerful machine than the 2010.
im like many in this thread. I have a PC and a 2010 MBP. I want to add a 27" iMac to the collection and make my workflow more mac oriented and leave my gaming to windows machines
Was curious if there has been thought or consideration about the use of [TIMG] tags? I can see how it helps the UI keep a somewhat cleaner appearance (images are not full resolution, thus throwing the forum sizes out of whack).
Just curious about [H]ardForum's thoughts.
I run eset. saw they had a mac version and figured "why the hell not?" and its been running pretty smoothly. Havenet seen a single slow down since installation.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions!
Hadrien - I am actually weighing out the benefit of going Cat 6, if it was my budget to work with I would got Cat6 without a second thought, but since I got to handover estimates to the parents, cant be quite so liberal. lol

Ive been watching this thread for a while cause the discussion in here is intelligent and very insightful. So with that in mind I turn to you all of the networking & security sub-thread with my questions.
I am about to install a Cat 5e network into my house. It will consist of 6 dual port...
You nailed it on the head in your first post. And to be honest, I took my time responding cause it felt like you were trying to be a dick in your response but I see now you weren't (glad I held my tongue =)). The changes were very subtle but it all came down to amount of ports. I was not sure of...
I revised my plan with the advice you guys suggested and got rid of equipment we wont use. I am also looking at getting a 24 port switch but need to wait for the next paycheck or two.
I was trying to limit the purchase of new equipment, i was hoping to get by with the 3 routers I had on hand.
Would DDWRT not be able to handle DHCP via the WAN ports? (this is something I know nothing of)
Hello Networking & Security of [H]ard|Forum.
I have finally decided that I will stop thinking about setting up a network and actually do it. First and foremost, I know very little about networking and am very much a beginner. I would love to hear thoughts and input about what I am planning...
I was just looking over my system and noticed something that doesn't seem right at all.
I purchased an AMD Phenom II X2 550 Socket AM3 80W and got the system all up and running. I go and look today at CPU-Z and its registering my chip as being an AM2+.
I took a screen shot of CPU-Z and...

It has been my experience that if you are getting into the MIS (or Information Decision Systems, Management Systems, etc... they have a few different titles for this field) field then you will be asked to take a programming class. I have gone through 2 universities now and each of them has had a...
As much as I hate to believe that im giving out this advice -
try out Java first. I did VB.NET first and was pretty happy with it but now after taking 2 different Java classes I would suggest it to anyone as a good starter language to get down the practice of syntax and the such.
