I personally deleted Garageband, iDVD, and iWork recently (including their Application Support folders) since I never use them and don't see myself doing so in the near future (I can always reinstall them if I need to). That freed up almost 6 gigs for me.
Yeah, I'm not expecting good performance, but the worst that can happen would be that I would just have to uninstall it. So I'll give it a shot sometime.
Not just any MacBook, a first edition, 1.67 GHz Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo) MacBook! Although I've upgraded the RAM to 2 GB.
I've read reports of people using Oldblivion and getting pretty solid performance on low settings with 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM MacBooks. What are the chances I can...
Well, I have a laptop atm so getting a tuner card is out of the question. But I've read that you can get external tuners that go directly from the monitor to the console.
From a little bit of google research, it appears that I'll need to buy an external TV tuner to do this. Does anyone have recommendations for a cheap, reliable one? Heck, I don't even want to watch TV (as I'd have to pay for service here at my college dorm). All I want to do is hook up a Wii or...
I can do this with a regular monitor, right? I don't need a special Apple display, just an adapter? And if it's not a widescreen monitor, how will it display?
I'm looking to get a budget 2.1 speaker system to take with me to college. Since I'll be in a dorm, I won't need a huge amount of power. I don't want to spend more than $50. Fry's is having a deal on the Logitech X-240 for $40. I'm also looking at the Creative SBS 380, I think they were $30...
I'm still using the ~3 yr old computer I have in my sig. I know Vista will run, but will I notice any performance loss vs XP because of the higher system demands for it? I want to reformat soon, and I figure I should just make the jump to Vista as long as it runs as fast as my XP currently does.
I have a MacBook and I'm trying to install Boot Camp. You've probably heard of the problem where people can't press Enter on the installation screen because they have peripherals attached, but I'm getting the same problem and I have nothing plugged in at all. And if I manually reboot the...
So I'm a PC guy who bought a MacBook refurbished, but they forgot to format the hard drive. I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to Macs, so how would I go about doing this?
Great to hear, but I'm more interested in the in store used items.
Also, this fall I'm going to be a senior in high school. However, I'm going to a summer program at a college and they've given me an email address. Is it possible for me to get student deals on stuff?
I guess these are the equivalent of open box items. If I get my MacBook "refreshed" in an Apple Store, I'll save $100. I've heard that people have had great experiences buying refurbished items from Apple. Since these refreshed items are supposedly checked out by technicians and come with the...
Yeah, the most intensive stuff I'll be doing is playing games. Like I said, I'll be upgrading RAM anyway and the HD space isn't a big factor for me, so if extra 128 MB of memory is negligible, $500 ain't worth it for .16 ghz.
How much difference is there between the two? I would like to be able to play games like Oblivion from time to time. The difference between these two MacBook Pro models are, for me, the CPU speed and the video card (I'll be upgrading RAM anyway and the HD space doesn't matter too much for me)...
I'm thinking about getting a MacBook Pro this summer. I'm not going to use it primarily for gaming, but I'd like to be able to do some light gaming on it. How would, say, Oblivion run on the cheapest model?
I'm a junior in high school and my parents decided to bribe me with a laptop this summer if I end the year with straight A's. I want a laptop that will ideally last through my senior year of high school and at least 1-2 years of college. I would like to be able to play games like WoW well, and...
I think I'm getting an LCD monitor for Christmas and I won't be needing this one. It's a Viewsonic G90fb, full specs are here.
It's in pretty much as good as a used monitor can get (no problems whatsoever, no cosmetic damage), but I don't have the original packaging and I can't really ship it...
Which brands are good? I want one to game, and 17" should be enough. From what I've seen, you want an 8ms or better response time. I've seen ones around $200 from brands like Polyview and Acer that get good reviews, but I haven't heard of them. How important is the brand when shopping for LCD...
Hey all, I was wondering what you'd suggest for a video card with a price before the big jump from high end to extremely high end (there's usually a pretty large leap). Probably no overclocking. Thanks.
So I'm building a new computer and everything works fine at first. Got the OS up and running, installed programs and drivers. However when I reset my computer to get them to kick in, Windows freezes at the loading screen. I try to find out what's up and I can boot in safe mode fine, but not...
I think stock cooling will be ok, he won't be overclocking. And the 6600GT is just to tide him over until he saves up enough for the current best-on-the-market.
Hey, I'm helping a friend purchase parts to build his new computer. We came up with this stuff in a couple of minutes, so the pricing and items might not be optimal yet, which is why I'm asking for suggestions here.

Shouldn't the AC adapter charge the iPod then? Someone in another thread said chargers weren't included, but there was a price drop to compensate.
And what is the warranty if I don't buy the extended?
Getting an iPod (20GB probably) for the end of the school year, but I have a few questions.
First off, what stuff does it come with? All I care about is a charger and a USB port (I don't have Firewire). I'm guessing I'll have to buy a case seperately?
And I've heard a lot of bad things...
