I'm thinking about getting a MacBook Pro this summer. I'm not going to use it primarily for gaming, but I'd like to be able to do some light gaming on it. How would, say, Oblivion run on the cheapest model?

No idea about your exact question but since no one else has posted here's my findings.

My 2.16Ghz, 1GB MB Pro runs BF2 @ 1440 x 768 (something stretched like that arg!) with settings on high.

BF2 has in my experience been the toughest game on any system (poor programmming?) so the fact that my MB Pro runs it better than my desktop (850xt pe, 1GB) extra resolution taken into consideration is pretty good.

Look at benchmarks for various models, they'll be around.

Oblivion is not available for Macs. If you're talking about running it via Boot Camp, just check how well Oblivion runs on ~equal computers.

SO how would you go about running BF2 or another game on a Mac. Is there some sort of option or will the computer just read it? I ask because I am in the same boat as the athur of the thread.

If its a game made for OSX then it will just work, if its not then you will have to install XP via BootCamp and then it will just work in XP.

So In other words, unless its World of Warcraft or Warcraft III you will still have to boot WinXP to play games with a Mac.

Hey now

WoW and Warcraft III are not the only games playable on a Mac.

Nope no decision. I bought the 17 incher and the screen is unbelievable. Trust me get the bigger screen. The weight difference is marginal (in real time carry) and the real estate is tops.

hmmm... how about fitting it easly on a small College classroom desk for notes?

Sheeesh i dont know what college you go to but where i go i couldnt even fit my 15 thinkpad. In fact the only laptop that fit was my dell 700m 12 incher.

Nyack College, Nyack NY.. the desk size is a little bit bigger than other schools i went to check out when applying, but, anyway, ill probably opt for the 15" because then i can get 2gb instead of 1gb ram.

Halt stop freeeeeeeze. Dont even think it. Dont buy ram from apple. If you want just get the 1gig module and buy your own ram. Thats what i did. You can get ram from other vendors for anywhere between $100 to the max crucial $150 ( i can help you ) and install it on your own. All you need is too remove the battery and unscrew two screws and your ram pops out. Its so easy that you can literally do it in one minute.

So whatever you decide is fine but please dont buy extra ram from apple becuase they are thieves.

*freezes* haha, ok. I'll just buy an upgrade for it when i have the cash then. apple uses DDR2-667 SO-DIMs right?
