I was on "The site that we do not speak of" a bit ago and found a post with a working link to the whitepaper. Interesting read:

Is it just me or is the whole hot deals section cooling off over the past few weeks...maybe building up to black friday, though it's aweful early to start that.
Or it could just be a sign of impending economic collapse.
There's a few warm items in the Fry's ad, but not anything I would call hot.
Here's a link to Fry's sale ad. Use ctrl+scroll to zoom in and out (you already knew that)
The Maxtor Network attached storage 320gig for 109.99 seems like a good deal, same enclosure that houses their 1TB offering, and the included server can do raid.
Just to relate my experience of the past few hours.
Just for the heck of it, wanted to run 3dmark01 to see how it ran at 1900X1080. Would not work. Kept crashing out with "fatal error: failed to validate material" messages. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Nvidia drivers 3 times-...
Hey, just a heads up for others that may have this mobo. It will not work with any 8800 series nvidia pci-e card. No explanation was given by the Asrock tech support, full email follows:
Dear ASRock America Customer,
Sorry, nVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS PCIe graphics card is not compatible with...
Before you freak out, yes I googled it in about 5 different word combos, and searched this forum with no luck.
I have seen no one report even trying to SLI a GTX and GTS together. Anyone else heard if this will work? With the advent of GPUphysics, it would make sense for the different GPU...

Don't have more info, but a decent price for a 1080P. Particularly for one with an integrated tuner.
I'd pick it up, but going out of town loaded down.
Asrock has released their 2.10 bios, but as usual, there is only a terse description of what it does (update cpu microcode). Since previous bioses correctly detected all C2D based procs, I'm concluding that this new bios is adding kentsfield support.
Unfortuneately, I don't have a kentsfield...
Here is a link to the newegg page.
Problem I have is it is not at all clear what the terms of the upgrade will be. From what I can read on the upgrade document is says "business" -
I'm not so interested in vista as an OS outside of the fact I'll need it along with my 8800gtx to render...
So AMD has finally come out and said they will integrate the GPU onto the CPU die. My biggest question is whether this will ever be a performance GPU or just the budget graphics crap aka intel "extreme".
Press Release:
AMD plans to create a new class of x86 processor that integrates the...
Compusa had a pretty good deal on the HP DV2000T with 1 gig ram, 120gb HDD, integrated video cam, remote, and Core 2 Duo T5500 proc today and yesterday.

Has anyone tried this bios out? I don't use DDRII memory, and the expansive release notes say only "Fine tune for DDRII memory." does not tell me much.
Anyone have a go at these? What are the benefits, besides "Fine tune for DDRII memory." of course. :p
There a new bios rev out on the asrock site for the Dual VSTA mobo. I really really wish they would have more than a terse description of what the bios does. "Fine tune for DDRII memory." does not tell me much. Since I don't use DDRII memory, i'm hesitant to upgrade- if only because the default...

Haven't seen anyone discuss the maximum (under load) temperatures for the C2D procs in this forum yet.
What would you suggest as an upper limit?
I've ran a P4 northwood as high as 61°C under load for extended periods without any ill effects. I doubt that would be reasonable for the C2D.
Will it be tonight at 12:01am pacific standard time, or sometime tomorrow?
Does anyone know for sure?
I have a feeling the 6600 will be OoS in less than 4 hours. :p
If this is the wrong forum for this, I apologize. But I figure someone in here has got to know!
Also, if you complain...
Ok, so I d/l ed and installed vista beta 2. first time I reboot, I get the "Activate Windows now" message, with several options. When I try to activate online, after some time, get the error message "activation failed".
I had the nic up and running before i restarted. Everything worked fine...
My XPS M170 GPU died today. She was 6 months old. Services will be held at the Dell repair facility on 5/11/06. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, condolences will be accepted.
Is anyone aware of stock clocked GO 7800GTX's eating it while rendering just a mild OGL app? Or go7800's eating...
I bought the PX-TV402U today at Fry's. I was looking for four things, and only found 2 out of four in any one device. The four things were:
1.) External (USB2 or Firewire) device.
2.) HDTV and SDTV tuner
3.) Hardware Mpeg2 (more hardware codecs supported the better, I thought)
4.)...
I'm running windows 2K (not HT friendly) and was wondering if anyone had seen a boost from the new dual CPU enhanced drivers on intel machines that had HT enabled vs. disabled. If it's quantifiable, it might help me justify an XP 'upgrade'.
I've been searching all over the intarweb, and can't come up with a straightforward way to do this. I want to be able to install programs onto one instance of XP, and have those programs, their installed folders, and maybe even that whole partition unviewable when booted into the other instance...
Anyone know where I can buy an MXM graphics card alone? I see several OEM's selling MXM compatible notebooks, and some barebones that have the MXM mobos, but alas as far as I can tell, no one sells the cards.
I'd like to build my own laptop, but would like to be able to buy the card...
I have a thrustmaster nascar pro force feedback wheel, and have misplaced the power adapter. Anyone have this wheel and can tell me what the voltage/polarity is? It's not indicated where the power attaches to the wheel  as it should be, and not information they chose to include on the...
I just built a system with the following specs:

gigabyte orb 360° cooler/dustbuster
1GB PC4000PRO corsair ram
3 hard drives of various sizes
GF4 Ti 4400 vid card (no oc)
This system is powered by a Leadman Powmax 500W power supply. The problem is...
Someone tell me this isn't going to hose this system. I can't get another PS right now.
Here's the specs:
2.4C northwood (at 2.4 no oc)
2 120GB hard drives
1 80GB hard drive
1 cd drive
2X 512 mb corsair PC4000PRO (with the lights)
1 firewire device
1 fdd

Well, I think I got a problem. When I run 3dmark, and during some moments of D3, I get random "dots" of color or dark....an effect similar to what dust on old projection film looked like on screen. I've captured a small (1 sec) vid of what I'm talking about, but when I compress it down to a...
Got a relative with an Abit IS7-M mobo. The NB fan started making a terrible humming noise, and I unplugged it. Ran the system for quite awhile, and didn't notice the heatsink really getting that hot. The system is not overclocked (running at 200FSB). As long as it is not overclocked, you guys...
Has anyone heard any rumors about something along these lines being in the works? I've heard "unlock the pipes" rumours, but nothing about this- hoping for the softmod, but with 16 good pipes in the GT it would probably be safe to flash back and forth...
I haven't seen any benches for...
Let me start off by saying that I'm relatively new to these forums, and I have no right to judge anyone's post here. This thread is not an attempt to do so. I also have no right to censure what anyone posts here- as I do not own this forum, nor am I a moderator here. I myself have made...
Where are all the benchmarks for the original doom? I'm dying to know which card has the highest FPS. Post screens if you got 'em.
EDIT: Oh yeah, be sure to enable AA and AF. Someone below mentions using GL quake. That would be the best way to assure the video card is actually tested.
I can't believe I'm posting a "what video card" thread. Ahh the humanity. But my brain is fried and I know you guys have the answer.
Before you say "just do the research yourself, you lazy ass" Here's my situation. A friend asked me to build them a system that'll play Doom3 well and have the...
Anyone know of any converter boards that would allow a PCIe card to be used in a standard AGP slot? Any of you tech gurus have a reason why it would not be possible?
I'm sure this has been posted before, but I could not find it after 1 hour of searching.
At what point will I go from Noobie to whatever comes next? Maybe vain, but I don't spam post and was curious.
Thanks.
In reference to THIS as was posted on the main [H] page:
I like google as much as the next guy, but anyone remember Googlegear.com?? Google threatened them with the same type of suit. Now they're ZipZoomFly <==what the hell were they thinking with that name  ...but that's another...
I've done something and now I've got this info scrolling across the screen anytime I play a game, or load software that makes heavy use of the video card. My attempt to attach a screenshot have been unsuccessful. It stinks to be a forum noob! The info that I'm trying to get rid of has bar charts...
