So I am currently running a D-tek fusion V2 waterblock on my FX-8120. Are there any substantial upgrades as far as waterblocks go currently? As it stands I'm running a triple 120, dual pass radiator and the only thing in the loop is the processor. I'm seeing idle temperatures in the mid to...
I purchased an Asus board to replace an MSI board that died on me. The Asus board worked great for everything except overclocking. If I adjusted the voltage at all, the board wouldn't post, even at stock frequencies. The rma process took about a month and Asus replaced it with a functional board.
Every single antec PSU i've used has been absolutely fantastic. I want nothing more than to run a brand new antec PSU to replace my old non-modular dinosaur
I'm running a custom water loop and mine died horribly under 1.6 volts. As I said in my previous post, temps are not what killed it. It never went above 55C.
I would highly recommend not going above 1.55volts as well. I have an MSI board that would have serious voltage swings that put my 8120 over 1.57 volts fairly frequently. That processor is quite dead now. Heat wasn't the issue. The voltage fried it. Be careful.
I've never used a Galaxy product before, but everything I've read or heard about them is top notch. I'd love to experience one of their products firsthand.
I find Galaxy to be a company that strives for continued greatness and success. They strive to deliver quality products that I have no problem buying or recommending.
Yes I was overclocking, but I do suspect the MSI board to be the culprit. Even with the voltage set to a max of 1.43 volts, it would spike upwards of 1.55 volts. Both board exhibited the same behavior when it came to power to the processor.
I'm amazed at the difference in quality between...
UPDATE: It seems that after replacing the motherboard with an Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0, the computer still wouldn't post.
The FX 8120 died. From launch to now and it crapped out.
Do you happen to get the blue screen issues while in safe mode? Are there newer motherboard drivers to play around with? Hell, are there older ones to mess with? I had a 780a asrock board and it got VERY hot around the NB/VRM heatsink. I had to have a fan on the heatsink, otherwise it would...
Suggestions are very appreciated, but with the cooling, the 1 case fan sits right above the VRMs pulling are out, over them. With the side panel off, it has an endless supply of fresh air to pull from. I cannot, however, rule out heat from the VRMs. Anything is possible with this motherboard...
Well I have managed to rule out power switch. If I changed outlets on the wall, the system blips on for a split second 1 time. After that, I have to change outlets for it to do that again. It simply will not turn on and post.
Sure, here it is:
1x 300 Gb WD Velociraptor
1x 1tb WD Caviar Black
1x LG Bluray player (SATA)
Watercooled with a DTEK Fusion V2 waterblock, reservoir, pump and 3x120 Radiator. (heat leaves outside the top of the case and I run with the side panel off)
1x Case fan
Antec Neopower 650...
I was using my system in rig for some good gaming sessions. I had recently started playing guild wars 2 and was having no issues at all. Last night while I was running some quests, the computer instantly powered down. It simply won't power up anymore. I've tried the simple stuff to rule out...
Be careful with MSI and RMA's.
As stated above, they do not do cross-shipment RMA's.
I have been dealing with them for a few weeks now with my motherboard. Long story short, sent in the motherboard for some stability issues. Got the motherboard back in worse shape than I sent it to them...
You could drill some holes in the case to allow better air flow, that aside you can swap to a lower location or even try undervolting to try and cool it down a bit.
Generally processors don't require a reformat. As long as you don't change chipsets (new motherboard) you should be fine. Just make sure the bios is up to date and the motherboard supports it.
