Yes, see my reply in your thread. No clue what is causing this. Have searched other forums and seen nothing. Everything was fine before 66.93. Now all full-screen video is borked.
I have the same problem. All video does it, full screen. eVGA 6800 GT, LCD monitor. Only upon installing 66.93s does this occur. No clue why. I have heard of one or two others as well with 6800 GTs. Games play just fine.
I've noticed some issues with Gainward concerning their 6800 GT but it still looks quite attractive to me. I had originally thought to want an X800 Pro (preferably with a custom cooler) but have since decided that the 6800 GT is the way to go (Xbitlabs and all other benchmarks point to its...
NF7-S.
But it can depend. AN7 offers slightly better sound codec, I believe, and slightly better stability/performance at 200 FSB. However, if you want to go over 200 FSB and don't want a bunch of useless haggling features (AbitEQ, uGuru) then go with the NF7-S. AN7 doesn't really offer...
Over at the nForcersHQ forums, people have been buying the AN7 and reporting similar problems with AbitEQ. It seems to be a fairly useless program. It's incorrectly detecting your CPU fan RPM, or whatever the fan is at, it's too low for the program. People have disabled it/ignored it. An Abit...
Your assumptions are flawed... while Thermalright may be discontinuing a heatsink (which one? they have like 5 different worthy models), the price surely won't drop. The SLK's (900 hasn't been discontinued yet, maybe this is the one?) are still great coolers. SP-97 and 94 are great as well. So...
As long as you purchase from a decent retailer, you're gonna get the 2.0 revision. The only differences in the board are SATA, Firewire, and Soundstorm are not in the NF7 version. They overlock the same.
Uh, yeah... of course it's safe. Run the Torture test, if it fails, then your system isn't rock stable.
The only risky thing about running Prime is that you'll put the maximum heat load on your processor... if your cooling isn't up to snuff, you'll have a reboot/crash on your hands.
PMI? Pft... spend your money on a decent brand. The timings on those sticks are horrific, irregardless of the fact that it's PC3700.
Good brands: Kingston, Corsair, Mushkin, Twinmos. Then OCZ, Geil, rate next, depending on your motherboard. Then brands like Crucial, PNY, Kingmax etc.
It...
Yes, that's good RAM. Kingston needs to be "K2" model to run on the nForce2 chipset properly. OCZ, Mushkin, Twinmos, Corsair, Kingston are all good brands to put on that mobo. Steer away from Geil.
You have to install SP1 before you install the nForce2 drivers... there's some sort of conflict with applying all the patches after installing the drivers. So, if all else fails, reinstall the drivers, maybe requiring a removal of all the Windows updates.
Well, basically, it's too late.
1) It's fine, esp. if you don't OC. Heatpads are fine for stock coolers on CPUs running at stock. However...
2) Heatpads are designed to melt and fill in the crevices of heatsinks and not come off. They are wax. So it'll take massive cleaning when you put...
Try changing DIMM slots... sounds like it's time to RMA the board.
However, 134F? That's 56C. Extremely high, especialy if that's not Diode temp. Might want to improve your cooling. What're your system temps?
That's an official (read: conservative), innacurate, and outdated specification. You can run 3 DIMMs at 200 FSB (DDR400, PC3200) and higher, you just lose some stability, based on what your entire setup is. I just installed a 512MB DIMM of OCZ PC3200EL along with my old 2x256 PC3200EL DC...
Yeah, common problem. The NB fan dies easily, is pasted on poorly, and is a general hassle. I replaced mine immediately. Iceberq (NON PRO) all copper chipset fan or a Zalman passive heatsink are good replacements.
Whatever you replace it with, make sure it's a NB chipset fan/heatsink and not...
Remove one of the LED fans... they are often useless and move less air than similarly-rated nonLED units. You should be able to take one out w/o losing temps (make sure more exhaust than intake).
Definitely could be, but not necessarily. It's kinda doubtful that the beeps are directly related to the PSU, but a weak PSU may lead to secondary effects that would cause beep codes. Find the beep codes for your mobo and figure out what the beeping is all about. That will definitely give you...
Yeah, PC3500 Corsair LL r1.1 type stuff might do those timings. But current RAM chips just can't do 2-2-2 anymore. You have to find a balance because higher speed rated RAM (PC3700) typically can't do lower timings, atleast at their rated speeds (3700 running at 3200 could probably do better...
You can't just throw a HD with an OS that was installed on another mobo and expect it to run on a new mobo. Chances are, you're gonna have to reinstall your OS. You can format the drive and reinstall or do a "repair install" to wipe the OS and drivers and keep the other stuff on the HD intact...
Corsair LL, yeah, OCZ PC3500 Gold, Mushkin PC3200 2-2-2 Special...
You're gonna have to look farther than PC3200 RAM to get stuff that will do 2-2-2 at decent FSBs.
If you're on an AMD platform, the ratio should ALWAYS be 1:1 (6:6 is what most people like). But, if you're on an Intel and you change the ratio to 5:4 then your RAM will be doing FSB x 5 / 4 and your CPU will be doing FSB x 4 / 5. Something like that. This function is utilized to maximize...
DFI has plenty of issues. It's only good feature is the OCing FSB that it can reach. Other than that, it's altogether sketchy. NF7-S has its quirks, but is probably the most perfect board out there. A7N8X is indeed hit or miss even getting to 200 (400) FSB. NF7-S for the win. Hope your A7N8X...
No... whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. Maybe what they meant is voltages. Abit boards have a history of undervolting, but the NF7 Rev2 doesn't undervolt as much as some people think. Currently, the sensors are just off, but the board delivers the voltage (you can...
Did these games work at the Lan party?? What change led up to this? What's your PSU (brand/wattage)? How do they not start up? Do they just close to desktop?
Your PSU is majorly underpowered. For an nForce2 board, you should go out and get an Antec or Enermax 400W+ PSU. May seem expensive, but a good PSU is the best $70 you'll ever spend on a computer component. Of course, do some research first, but that's your problem. Go ahead and run Memtest86+...
1) PSU is insuffcient.
2) Board is Dead on Arrival.
Your old PSU may have been good enough for your old system, but not for the Nforce2 chipset. Since you didn't list it on your upgrades, then I'm betting you don't have a good 400W+ Enermax, Antec, TT, etc.
It is correct, I've been around the NF7 for a while. The temps were originally too high, then too low, then they fixed it around 17. Bios 18 and later should be accurate. There was a guy with watercooling who had too high temps...he fixed it by fooling around with his setup and trying some cold...
Geil is not a good match for the NF7. It's just not a good brand that gels with NF7. OCZ goes much better, or Corsair. Mushkin, OCZ, Corsair...Geil has intermittent problems on the NF7 series. You can be a tight-wad, but why gamble?!
Don't get the AN7. Whichever you choose depends on what you need. To be honest, this thread is useless without some of your needs or other components that you will be using. The A7N8X is still having some issues, and people are changing to the Abit all the time. The Lanparty is the fanboy fave...
