I just picked up a 30" monitor and I'm wondering how you guys manage your window sizes. It would be nice to open up Explorer and my browser (Chrome atm) at 1280x1600 (half-screen) as a default. Actually I think I'd like that to be the default window size. Any tips?
I just picked up a refurb 3008WFP and it's the cat's ass. Brilliant colors, super sharp text. If you ever think you'll need more than DVI connections, this is the one to get.
Plus the panel frame/stand is just gorgeous. Did I mention a built-in card reader? Nice little bonus.
Just wanted to chime in and say thanks to Mr. Wolf. You pushed me over the edge. All this talk of input lag can be off-putting, but I finally pulled the trigger before the ejunkie coupon expired and I could not be happier. This monitor has it all! And the price I got on it was such a steal...
I just got a refurb myself. It came with some generic paper manual, driver/manual cd, *two* power cords, a display port/HDMI cable (not sure which is which), a USB cable, and an effin' SINGLE-LINK DVI cable. Multiple calls to Dell were fruitless, and since I really needed something longer than...
I just got my refurb 3008wfp and it's spectacular. Of course, Dell didn't send me a dual-link cable so I'm just slumming it with a single-link at HD resolution. But still, holy cow.
I *do* see the "dust-like" phenomenon with solid white. It's not bad though. I think all LCDs have some...
Any of you guys ever have a problem getting your Firewire ports working in Vista/XP SP3? It shows up in Device Manager but neither my old firewire ipod or my Canon camcorder get recognized. In either OS.
Exactly. After a couple months, I make a fresh backup on the drive I have at home, then take it to the safe deposit box. Swap it out with the one that's there, use that one the next time I want to make a backup.
How do you propose I do that? Not sure what you mean...the purpose of offsite backup is to protect data against catastrophes such as fire, flood, tornado, etc...
Yeah, that's what I do. I have 2 250gb drives that I swap out of my safe deposit box periodically -- one stays at home for a couple months, then I swap it with the drive in the box, rinse and repeat every couple of months.
That's a fair question. To be honest I think it's a comfort level. I'm not sure I want the drives dependent on one another as part of an array -- as I understand it, if more than one drive goes in a RAID 5 array, you'll lose some data.
What's nice about my current solution is that I have a...
I am doing a rebuild of my file server with larger SATA drives. I plan to have 5 data drives with 5 mirror/backup drives. I'm looking at SATA controller cards and basically it looks like I need 3 4-port PCI SATA II cards (I don't see 5 port cards.) Or I presume I could do 1 8-port and 1...
