Welp, looks like I'm down to 3 computers folding now. 3000+ Venice and 2 2500+ Bartons. Looks like Seagate is coming to seize most of our assets at work next week, which means my folding boxes go bye-bye. Twas fun while it lasted, and hopefully I'll be able to start again in the somewhat near...
Looks like we finally got the greenlight to ship the new 500GB products:
http://www.shareholder.com/maxtor/ReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=177160&reltype=Product&maxtor_section=press
Been a long time coming... 133GB platters, up to 8 heads. 3Gbps, NCQ, hot swap, port multiplier, etc. A lot...
Here's some linkage:

Geez, I can finally talk about this now. Been waiting for the "official" announcement for quite a while.
These drives are actually a fair bit different than the curren SATA MaxLine III's. In terms of firmware...
So, I was at the hospital for a long time last night. My girlfriend's grandmother checked in because she had some major back pains. She had some MRI's done, some chemical tests, and biopsies of different areas of her back/spine/organs. Results were:
Cancer of the liver.
Spinal cancer...
Welp, I just passed you this last update (12pm) SmokeRngs. Beat you to 200k! :o
It looked like after your point dump over the weekend that you might be turning up the heat a bit. Was getting worried there...
Good fun though! Fold On!
I guess this happened yesterday, but I didn't notice till now.
I just passed 2 of our 3 mods... :)
Next up: relic!
Maybe not... I can dream though, can't I? ;)
So I'm thinking about getting powerline networking for parts of my house, as running CAT5 is not feasible, and my wireless connection won't serve all of the rooms I need network connections in.
So, I'm wondering if I can hook a powerline network unit to my router, and then receive the network...
Theres a thread about this in OC&C already, so I thought I'd post it here too.
Not sure how long this is going to last, but Danger Den is runing all of their Black Ice radiators 1/2 off right now! :)

And heres the link to the OC&C thread...
So, I was looking at some Kingston HyperX PC3200 that I have trying to figure out what chips it has on it. Its pretty old, so I was thinking that it might be BH-5. So, I take the heatspreader off of it, and the chips each end in "BCH-5"
Is that BH-5 or CH-5? I'm guessing CH-5 but I was...
In case anyone is curious...
Maxtor announced 1/2 terrabyte drives today. Shipping in Q3. Here's there PR:

Kind of a strange question here...
I have a windows box and a linux box folding behind the same firewall (my roomates firewall). He seems to have changed something on it, which screwed with my clients connecting to stanford's servers. Unfortunately for me, he's in Viriginia at the moment...
So, I don't really know a damn thing about mobile computing... but this question is more for my work than anything else.
Does NVidia produce any chipsets that go in laptops? Are they mostly just AMD chipsets, or 3rd party or what?
So yeah, I'm sure that just showed my utter ignorance, but...
Ok, I'm having a bit of a problem. I posted in Operating Systems already, but I would think that guys might have some ideas for me too.
I have windows installed on my SCSI drive. When I installed it, it wanted to write something to an ATA drive I had connected as well, so I said "OK" and let...
So, I have 2k on my 15k SCSI drive, and I also have another 10k SCSI drive on the SCSI channel, and a rediculously old ATA drive on my onboard ATA channel.
Now, I just formatted the 15k over the weekend, and when I was installing 2k, the ATA drive was not formatted. Setup told me that in...
I think I need a Moose to hug...
Just made an appointment to have my dog put down... :(
On a more applicable note... One of my good friends has been going through chemo for the past couple months, as he has both Hodgkins and non-hodgkins lymphoma in his lymph nodes and bone marrow...
This is purely just out of curiosity...
But, I was wondering if anyone knew how all 3 platforms stacked up to each other in terms of folding capabilities?
I know Athlons fold Tinkers a lot faster than P4's, but thats about the extent of my knowledge there. I guess I'm really curious as to...
So, I'm having a slight problem with this motherboard. I just hooked everything up last night. POSTs fine, installed/booted windows fine. However, It seemed to have set the multiplier on my mobile 2400+ to 6, with no way to change it in the BIOS. So, i have it running at 200 MHz FSB, so its...
So, I enter my user name and password in Opera, it then says that I logged in, redirects me back to the forum index, but all of them are still locked! Cleared cache, no go. Tried going into some of the forums, still says I'm not logged in. Works just fine in IE apparently... What gives? :p...
Ok... So, I have this 900 MHz P3 sitting here, but I can only run DOS on it (for testing stuff here at work... don't ask), and I can't install windows or anything on it.
So, can anyone think of a way I might be able to fold on this guy?
Thanks. :)
It appears that the forum listing page doesn't seem to render quite right using Opera 7.5. The spacing between the titles of each of the forums seems to be excessive and causes a decent bit of scrolling to get to some of the forums. Just a minor problem, but a problem none the less. :)
Well, I just made a reservoir this evening out of tupperware (ghetto, i know, but it works), and I was wondering what other people have made theirs out of. I would love to see some pics too, if you have them. Trying to see if there might be a better solution out there than the one I just got...
First off...
Thank god the forums are back!!
Anyway, my girlfriend is wanted to get a tablet pc, and I know nothing about them. So, I was wondering if you guys might have any suggestions as to what good ones are out there. She was looking at the little 10" Acer one, so something with...
Hey guys, just want your opinion on a heatsink here. One of my friends is looking for a good heatsink for his 2.4C thats under 30 bucks. He's running on the stock one right now, so basically anything would be an improvement. Saw this Zalman cooler (link below) on newegg, and the user reviews...
Ok, so, I'm not sure if this has to do with hardware or software issues, so I'm posting here first.
My Setup:
Win2k sp3 on...
2500+
NF7 v2
2x256 kingston hyperx pc3200
Now, when I start up, it will only start up off of my disk that I have my operating system on if I have another drive...
Hey, just a quick question out there for you Danner owners that have used both of these pumps. From my understanding, the Mag7 puts out a lot more heat into the water than the 3's and 5's do. So, I was wondering if any of you knew how much more heat the 5's put in the water as opposed to 3's...
Hey, do any of you guys know where you can purchase one of these? I know one of the retailers in the OC&C links had them, but I don't remember who it was, and I don't have that thread bookmarked to look.
Thanks!
Hey guys...
Just wondering if any of you have seen any comparisons between these 2 blocks. Before the RBX came out, I was pretty sure that the WW was pretty much the performance king of (affordable) water blocks. Since the RBX seems to have a similar design, I was curious as to whether that...
So, I hear a lot of people talking about the NF7-S, and how great a board it is, but what about the NF7? I don't need SATA or IEEE 1394, so the NF7 seems to be a much better option for me. Any of your input would be greatly appreciated. :)
