I think I need a Moose to hug...

Just made an appointment to have my dog put down... :(

On a more applicable note... One of my good friends has been going through chemo for the past couple months, as he has both Hodgkins and non-hodgkins lymphoma in his lymph nodes and bone marrow. He had just graduated, gotten his career started, and just gotten back from his honeymoon when he got diagnosed... Anyway, he just had another CT scan recently, and it doesn't look like the cancer is responding to the chemo anymore, so he might be in deep shit. I'm no bard, so I'll leave that to you all... but, I just wanted to share what is going on.

Fold on, brothers!!

Oh yeah, and he has a website documenting his progress too, if any of you felt like checking it out:

I'm pissed. This crap is really getting on my nerves and I'm tired of my family, friends, and friends of friends dying. It's time to get freakin' serious. IF you don't fold....UD...if you don't UD....FAD.

Brian, if you are reading this I hope you don't give up and fight this till you win. Take care and know you are in my prayers and my GHZ is folding for you!!!

A Bard ? Well Dark Ember, Robert Frost surely was.

For your friend then:

Was there ever a cause too lost,
Ever a cause that was lost too long,
Or that showed with the lapse of time too vain
For the generous tears of youth and song?

note: The "cause" in this poem makes me think of cancer, and the time lost curing it.
hence the added note.

Hey, thanks for the wishes guys. I'll certainly pass them on to him.

Throwing him a surprise birthday party in the next couple weeks! :D
Should be a good time.

Its too bad he won't be able to participate in the Scotch ritual with me though. :(

Very sorry to hear about both your friends, friends are hard to come by. My prayers are will you all.

Just got a new 4 port KVM, out of necessity. You have given me an excuse to build 2 more rigs. Best wishes to you're bud, and hope we can help find a cure in time. Enough good folks have fallen. It's time to stop the insanity.

One big hug coming up!

--------------------> :) <------------------------

I am sorry to hear about all of this....this is very disturbing news. :(

I have a friend who has lung cancer right now and he is going through chemo as well. He is 25. My sister-in-law died of non-hodgkins lymphoma several years ago.

Cancer must DIE!!!

Sorry to hear that Dark Ember. Just don't let it get you down and make you do something you'll regret later on, like hugging a Moose. We'll keep folding until we get things taken care of, no need to do anything irrational.

Tell your friend he's got the [H]orde working for him.

Fold on!

I'm not quite as big as a moose but *HUG*

I hope your friend gets through this. I can say from experience, both past and present (see below). That support seems to go a long way and that being a good friend right now is the most important thing that you can do :)

My mother had breast cancer a couple years ago. She was lucky and did beat it (after intense chemo and losing one breast). Now one of my twin daughters has a very rare blood disease (langerhans hystiocytosis) that isnt *cancer* but is treated the same (Hopefully the researchers are spending some folding cycles for research) . She is 8 months old and is undergoing chemo.

Noone, 8 months or 80 should have to deal with this. Life is difficult enough as is. I think that I speak for a lot of people out there when I say that Folding is one of the easiest and most generous thing that we ALL can to to help.

I have been folding for just over a year. I have 3 machines at home ( approx 5ghz ) and I always talk my clients and friends into it as well.

Man, this is exactly what is so great about the FAH community (I mean ALL teams, not just the [h]orde). Sure, theres friendly competition between teams which can be a good motivator, but in the end, we are all in this for the betterment of humanity. To help put an end to diseases and suffering. I'm glad I could be a part of this. :)

Kipling said it better than I. Having said that, there is one canine pal of mine I'll miss until I draw my own last breath.

Give yourself a week afterward, then go to the local SPCA and see which pup knows you did right by your friend. The one that picked me is about 10 now, along with her 7 yr. old Dane buddy (whose nickname, coincidentally, is "Moose") and the hyperactive 2 yr. old Aussie that keeps all of us on our toes. :)

And a reminder of why I've foregone ramping-down the farm. Still too much left to do.

Some artistic type needs to come up with a :steely-eyed_determination: smiley...

I think I'm actually done with dogs for a while now. Midnight (the one that is getting put down) kicked ass, but I don't think I have enough time these days to devote to a dog. I already have 2 cats too, so I think I'll stick with that for now. We'll see in the future sometime though...

Yeah, I've been trying to borg as much as possible lately. Best I've been able to come up with is about 3 900 MHz P3s... Better than nothing I suppose... Every bit helps!

Fold On!!

edit: i second the vote on the smiley too!
