Apparently, Iomega TV with Boxee will be available soon. Based on the initial specs, it will do everything I need, including streaming media to other PCs, TVs, etc over the network.
The current D-Link Boxee is unable to do that, and, hence, why I can't go with it at this point. I would...
What up guys!
I just wanted to get some quick opinions, based on your own experiences with the various available hardware media-players (i.e. Asus O!Play, WD Live, Patriot Theatre, etc, etc.)
I will be purchasing one within the next week or so, and, thus far, I'm leaning toward the Western...
I've had the WRT610N and a couple of WGA600s operating for over two years now.
When I first ever purchased the WRT610N router, it specifically stated on the box that it could use both bands simultaneously, and media traffic could be sent over the 5 GHz range while Web surfing and other such...
Don't hop on the bandwagon too quickly.
STEAM is functional, and the compromise does seem fair in terms of playability and ease of use. I don't want to come across playing "Devil's advocate" just for the sake of playing "Devil's advocate"...
...but....
By using STEAM as the sole...
This it not true.
You can install the nVIDIA drivers, but it's unsupported... ...however, I've never had problems.
There are several steps you must take. The following steps apply to Windows 2008 R2 Core / Hyper-V Server R2 Core. If you are running a version prior to R2, make sure to...
Well, at least I don't feel as bad knowing that others have experienced a similar issue. Weird too, because if I load a WinPE USB stick with the drivers, all NICs load correctly. Why can't an imaged version of Server Core do the same thing??
This is so frustrating.
Yep, I'm still unable to figure out the problem, but I have been able to reproduce it.
I loaded Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise on a completely separate Opteron server using nVidia nForce NICs.
Windows used its own drivers, and loaded them without a hitch.
I then installed the nVIDIA...
Nope, the system was not SysPrep'd! In fact, I hate SysPrep.
In the past, I would use NewSID. However, as of Windows 7 / 2K8 R2, NewSID no longer functions properly and wrecks the system. Since then, I have used the second-best option, Symantec's GhostWalker.
However, in the case...
I used Symantec Ghost Suite 2.5
I mapped a drive over the network, and used a custom-made WinPE DVD to boot the system.
Then ran the following command:
ghost32.exe -z5 -auto -split=2048
Pretty standard. I've never had a problem with imaged systems in the past.
Although this is more of a hardware issue, I figured some of you have been working with Hyper-V Server R2 and Windows Server Core and may be able to assist.
I've posted the request in the hardware-forum.
If you have a solution, please assist. Thanks...
Hey guys,
This is the first time I've ever run into a problem like this.
The situation is as follows:
O/S: Windows 2K8 R2 Core --- Enterprise Edition
NIC(s): 2 x Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709C Dual-Port Controller
I am able to get both NICs to install, but only a single...
Just came across your response now.
I've been operating with the Yamaha set to 6 Ohms for months now, and I've had pretty good results.
I'm aware of the issues you indicated, but I did not want to blow out my unit by leaving it in 8 Ohms mode.
In terms of picking up a second set and...
Thanks a lot.
I would have not figured that out intuitively.
Is there any available downloadable documentation that explains each of these settings? I'm not looking to learn them inside-out, but rather like the idea of having a reference on hand when making VoIP configuration changes.
My network expertise is limited to switches and firewalls (not including VoIP optimization), and I have very limited experience setting up consumer VoIP routers, etc.
So, at this point, I'm not even sure whether what I'm asking is complex, or a simple timer setting...
....What controls the...
Thanks for all the assistance.
Okay, one last question... ...just a bit confused after the last post....
Should I set the receiver to 6 ohms, or keep it at 8 ohms. REMEMBER, my two front speakers are 8 ohms KLA-9s... ...pretty high-end, albeit older.
I definitely don't want to...
Fair enough, but that was the only place where I noticed the 4 ohms listed. obobski pointed out that my Yamaha HTR-6130 did mention support for 4 ohms in the previous post, and I just wanted to confirm. Since Dynamic Power was the only spec I noticed 4 ohms listed, I'm assuming that this is...
First of all, I want to thank you for all the advice / information.
In theory, you're absolutely right, and, as a network consultant, I generally give my customers / clients the exact same advice. I never build systems out of spec, and, when it comes to power, I've seen enough "dirty" AC...
And, for the sake of not sounding like I'm a "know-it-all", or that I'm just hard-headed and don't listen to sound advice, I've done my due diligence: http://www.audioholics.com/education/frequently-asked-questions/connecting-4-ohm-speakers-to-an-8-ohm-receiver-or-amplifier
Dude, chill.
haha... I appreciate the advice, but I'm not spending anymore on speakers. If I shorten the life of my receiver from 15 years to 7 years, that's fine. I assume that, in 7 years, there's probably going to be features and functionality that I require and I'll have to upgrade...
Okay... what about wiring two 4 ohm speakers in series? Wow... I wish I could remember my electrical courses from 10 years back in college. lol... I know how resistance works in a DC circuit, but I remember there was a specific method of adding impedence when working in AC... ...shit, I...
Hey,
I've done a enough research to know that it should work fine, given my receivers power out-put and current characteristics.
I realize that driving 4 ohm speakers places more of a strain on my Yamaha, but I wanted bookshelf units for the rear and I found a pair of 160 W units for real...
You will definitely notice a performance hit as the drive becomes more full. The general rule is that you will start noticing the performance hit at about 50%, but it all depends on the drive, level of fragmentation, RPM / ms qualities, etc.
This applies to both IDE, SATA and SCSI, etc...
Okay, well, that works out well. Where did you read this?
I'm only asking because I've only been able to find information pertaining to standard setups. Google has links to hundreds of documents, how-tos, and advice specific to 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 speaker installations and sound tuning...
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I think you and I are definitely in agreement with regard to the right-rear speaker.... except, instead of sitting on top of the bookcase, I'll mount it on the wall beside it. Should I place it close to the ceiling.... say roughly a foot or so away.
As for the...
Front left and front right can definitely be placed beside the TV if need be. But, what about rear right and rear-left?
Also, front-left and front right are floor speakers... Rear right and rear-left are bookshelf speakers (roughly 10" x 10" ). I'm hoping to wall mount them on...
Wow... Thank you. That's perfect! Now I just need to figure out where to place the speakers. Also, if you recommend a better spot for the sub, feel free to recommend. I placed it there because most sites state to place it in a corner to receive better overall better. Also, where you...
Most of the time, it will be just to the right of the coffee table. The couch has a recliner component, but it's only in that one area, and so it's my favourite spot. haha
However, I would assume that, when watching DVD movies, Internet TV, video games, and such someone will possibly sit...
C'mon man.... are you serious? lol
I know it's bad, but I just need some quick help. I want to get this shit mounted tonight, and I didn't feel like designing and then posting content up on a Website, and then linking to it from here.
I'm finally getting my home theatre in order. I have a condo, and the entertainment room and dining room are shared in a 20 ft x 13 ft sized room. Due to the layout, including location of doors and windows, I was forced to set the room up as follows...
The more I read, the more I agree with you. As I have never tried them myself, I can only base my opinion on the reviews of others. However, I'm seriously leaning toward good quality stereo headphones.
Any recommendations? Comfort and budget... ...$100 Cd or less.
I know there's a sticky, but given all the new headsets that have appeared on the market recently, I need some clarification.
My budget is $100 Cd, but I'm willing to go over if the price-performance ratio makes that much of a difference.
Most of the online-publication reviews I've read...
