A G600 user here. This is a common complaint about the mouse but there is a fix!
Install the Logitech drivers for the G600. In the configuration tool, choose to store the keybinding profiles on the computer instead of on the mouse itself. This should stop the cursor from randomly jumping up.
Despite a few good days of operation on the new motherboard, I've got the crashing to occur again! Gonna fallback to my previous Sandy Bridge setup to let the Z170 platform mature a bit since it seems like several people are encountering these issues.

I haven't even tried to overclock yet, sadly. It's as stock as it can get. In fact, the RAM is being underclocked to the JEDEC standards (it's running at 2133 instead of 2400MHz).
Might just revert back to my 2500k setup for the time being. Swapping out processors / mobos to try and identify the culprit is too much of a hassle. Maybe I'll consider Haswell or just wait for this platform to mature a bit (seeing that a lot of the current motherboards have several issues).
Recently upgraded from a 2500k setup to a 6700k setup and have been encountering hard freezes (requires holding down the power button to reset) that are accompanied with a full volumed buzzing sound (not a repeat of ingame sounds).
System specs:
i7-6700k
ASUS Z170-AR
2x8 GB DDR4-2400 Crucial...
Unless there is something else with the chipset that may be potentially wrong, I don't quite follow your line of thinking. I'm not going to be using any off the affected ports so I don't see any issue until I can receive a proper board in april at which time I'll do a swap.
even if the SATA II ports are broke, I still got four SATA III's!
Here's a near complete build, just waiting for RAM and Optical Drive :)

I'm thinking of going with the vanilla P8P67. I don't mind the different NIC and the limitation to crossfire only. Save myself a bit of cash. Thanks for the help! Especially for the amazon tip.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Heavy Gaming and some minor audio encoding/transcoding. Of course the usual internet browsing etc.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around 1K including shipping and handling
3) Where do you live...
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I won't be reusing any parts
10) I will be using 64bit Win7, already have a copy.
@Dannybui:
Adding $200 would not be an issue. My main goal is to...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mainly for SC2 and Web Browsing. Future games might look promising.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Would like the total to be ~$1000, okay if it's over by a bit.
3) Where do you live...
Barring any other deals that I might have not seen, I believe I'll be going up to my local microcenter and purchasing a Q9550 and order an HD5850 online. I think this will be good given I can reuse my 6GB of RAM! If there's some crazy deal that was released today that I've missed please let me...
I will definitely be waiting. Do you think that's a good idea though? That is, forgoing upgrading my HD4850 --> HD5850 and instead going for an i5 / i7 setup?
My main worry with the 5850 is the viability of my PSU (500W Antec Earthwatts).
CoreTemp.. One core stays at 40, the other is 50 D:... I've tried reseating it several times, this also happened with my old heatsink
I took a look at some of the microcenter combos and they sound freaking awesome. might keep the same video card and go i5/i7
I'm close to two Fry's locations. And the drive up to Microcenter wouldn't be all that bad either (About an hour). Hmm, a video card upgrade looks reasonable.
@Shadowssong: I have a cheap aftermarket cooler on my CPU and at 3.0GHZ it idles at about 50C... I wonder if this is a function of the...
Hey all,
I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to do some upgrades to my existing system with my current budget or save up to build up again from the ground up.
Any input is appreciated. Here's some preliminary info:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web...
I was looking to upgrade my RAM from 2x1GB to 2x2GB (2GB - > 4GB) and I currently have these in my system:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098
Looking at a couple online vendors, I've seen some 8500 2x2GB sets selling for way less than the 6400s. In particular, I...
Yes I'm a goon, guilty as charged...
Hmm, I guess I could definitely put that 120mm fan they gave me for free when I bought the case, it's just that the HD4850 is so long it doesn't really fit...
I'll see what I can do.
Thanks again.. running over 100C is just annoying, the fan becomes...
I have the Sapphire HD4850
(looks like this: http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/productfiles/244specimage.jpg )
I'm using ATi's CCC to monitor temps
I am using an Antec Sonata III as my case, where just the default rear fan is being used.
well I mean this section is General Hardware but that's neither here nor there... back to the problem...
I am not overclocking the card and the ambient temperature of the case is around 30 degrees Celsius...
Could this be a driver/hardware problem?
It seems that occasionally when I'm playing games, especially in WoW for instance, my video card fan will ramp up to 100% fan speed and read as temperature 99-100 degrees Celsius. Is this normal behavior or should I be worried?
Normally my fan speed is set to be 50%, but as soon as I start...
I just built a rig that is nearly the EXACT same spec as you, just 2gb of ram instead of 4 and I haven't encountered a problem like that. I did flash to the latest BIOS before doing anything though but you say you have F6 on there from the factory, strange. Must be one of the components.
Definitely make sure both the 20/24 main ATX and 4-pin ATX12V are plugged in! Was building my setup just today and totally forgot the 4-Pin connector; nearly terrified me ;)
Have some new questions here, thus the bump:
I've recently decided to go for the E7200 and the EP43-DS3L from Gigabyte. I was looking through some of Newegg's combo deals and found this:

Is this a better...
if you're into a lot of rock music i think you should definitely check out some of the headphones made by Grado. They're open-air so I don't know if sound is a big issue for you (means that they leak a bit of sound) but the quality is top-notch.
