For that usage, it may be better to get a pre-built dell or similar. It may even come with a slightly better monitor too.

I also have the upgrade itch, but these E8400's are hard to move on from.. I'm still a fairly regular 1080p gamer and my e8400 at ~3.6-3.8 hasn't been getting in the way as far as I can tell. I say hold on to these puppies until they just can't take anymore!
