ok, I will try to use my windows cd, hopefully i get lucky and this resolves the issue. However, if it is the Hard drive IDK how it could be anything other than the hard drive just failing, because the laptop has worked fine for 4 years now and I have never dropped it, so I doubt it is just a...
My laptop was working fine, then I tried to turn it on and it started to load windows, which had the scroll bar go across the screen 2 times before a quick flash of blue screen with random characters and then auto reboot. I then got the screen asking to start windows from last known good...
Thanks for the link to that thread. I am thinking about just creating a new partition with the remaining space. Would it impact the performance of my PC if I were to use the newly created partition for all of my programs while windows is on the other partition? If so, would it be a better...
I bought a brand new 750 gig Seagate 7200RPM SATA drive off newegg. Installed it and got ready to set up windows XP. When the XP installer got to the select partition to install windows, the numbers were way off. I went ahead with the install and selected the "entire" free space area. Now I...
I asked a similar question a day or so ago. I was pointed to resellerratings.com
Search by store and type in ibuypower and just start reading the reviews... or i guess criticisims would be more correct. You can also read some user comments about ibuypower in the original thread here on hard...
MirageMobile,
Someone in another thread just pointed me to resellerratings.com and I checked out sager. They have a lifetime rating of about 5 out of 10. It seems like customers either got a great laptop which is exactly what they wanted, or the exact opposite. Seems like everyone who had a...
Wow... ibuypower got ripped on reseller ratings.
Unfortunately, so did sager who I had all but decided upon for my new laptop.
I was all but set on my laptop selection... but now I may be back a square one :(
I ran across this while looking at some of the other laptops. I can't find any reviews for it and it isn't a model listed on IBUYPOWER's website... but it seems to be top notch components that normally run around $1900 for only $1470...
Ok so I managed to answer my most of my own questions after reading through random websites and many random web searches but the one I still have is:
If I am going to have a core 2 duo processor and 4G of ram, do i need windows vista ultimate 64 bit to take full advantage or can i use home...
If I have a laptop that supports up to 4G of RAM. If it comes with DDR2 667 PC2 5300 RAM, and I want to buy 4G off of newegg to replace the 1G installed, will DDR2 667 PC2 5400 be compatible? DDR2 800 PC2 6400?
Im looking at getting either...
I just priced a sager 2092 directly off of the sager website and came up with this setup:
Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD with Super Glossy Surface (1680X1050)[+$85.00]
- Processor: 45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9300 / 6MB L2 Cache, 2.50GHz, 800MHz FSB[+$255.00]
- Video & Graphics...
I have been looking through the suggestions and I agree that the Gateway P-171X FX would be a great buy... if they had them in stock. I originally almost bought a sager as my first laptop, and the 2092 seem like it might fit the bill as i really don't think i want/need a 17" screen.
The asus...
I bought an awsome computer my freshman year of college from Viscious PC who has since gone out of business. Something happened with the power supply cord, and I can't get a replacement and I'm not 100% positive that the mobo didn't get fried as well. Im going to get it checked out before I...
Ok, I just went ahead and unistalled every audio driver and every possible audio controlling software off of the computer, then reinstalled my motherboard which included the realtek AC'97 audio drivers and some software to control the surround sound. Everything seems to be working correctly...
Didn't go into the bios and disable the onboard sound before install of the new sound card.
Windows xp Home
I have an EVGA Nforce4 motherboard with onboard audio, not sure what the name of the adapter is
I tried to install a creative sound blaster audigy card
I built a system a while back for gaming and everything was going just great until I stumbled across a soundcard from one of my older systems that I had originally intended to put into this system. I had been using the onboard audio which sounded, and worked just fine and should have left it at...
Ok I don't understand what is wrong here,
I have a laptop with mozilla thunderbird 2.0 installed. When I am at my parents house I can connect through a linksys router to my pop3 mail server (mail.bellsouth.net in this case) to both receive and send messages.
Now when I come back to my...
Ok guys thanks for all of the input and help. I just placed the order. Decided on the 7900GT as I am a bit more comfortable with Nvidia and it was a good bit cheaper. Should be in sometime next week and I can't wait.
Thanks for the advice... I didn't realize that. In order to get a good crossfire MB Its going to cost me even more. I think I am just better of sticking with the 7900GT and see what happens down the road.
Ok so I typed a reply a little while back and apparently it didn't go through so here it is again.
I am thinking about going with the x1800XT 512MB rather than the 7900GT, sticking with 1Gig of ram. It seems like the x1800XT is a better card that is also "future proof" in some respects. It...
OK another quick question, if i get the dual MB with both AGP and PCI-E, put in the 3500 Venus, add a gig of ram and plug in my current graphics card until the new ones with direct X 10 come out... How long will I have to wait?
I managed to get oblivion working on my school laptop... Didn't...
That corsair is a single stick, and I was planning exactly what you said. Maybe buy another gig down the road. Oh and the M/B has 4 dimms anyway.
As for the Processor, thats the subject i know least about, I stopped keeping track of all the new hardware advances before all the semperons...
Ok, since i first posted I began to lean toward the new system and your comments have helped alot. I do however have a few questions that are more for my general knowledge so I can put some of this hardware into perspective.
First what would the Athlon xp 3000+ be equivalent to in Pentium...
Ok so I have been struggling for the last two days of this question spawned from the desire to play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I built a computer 3 years ago and It has:
Athlon Xp 2200
Geforce 4 ti4600
512 PC 2700 Ram
Motherboard supports AGP 4X
So I decided it was time to upgrade...
Ok so it has been a long time since I posted and I just had time to fool with the computer. It was the RAM that was giving me the problem. After that the computer is now running perfectly.
Thanks for the help
I wasn't home for a few days prior to katrina, i honestly don't know if the computer was on or not, i would hope someone in my family would have turned it off.
How much would an equivalent or slightly better graphics card cost these days. (The geforce 4 is discontinued from what I can...
I truely hope it is neither of video card or the ram... two of the most expensive pieces of the computer. :( 1G Kingston pc 2700 and a Geforce 4 ti4600+ (top of the line when i built the computer)
I might possibly be able to salvage a power supply out of a computer I pieced together from...
The beep is a long beep followed be a pause of the same length, then it repeats. So its just: beep pause beep pause etc. etc.
The computer did not get any damage from moisture or anything as luckily the house itself miraculously took no damage from the trees fallen all around it. However...
Ok, so I live in Louisiana and after power finally came back on after hurricane katrina i tried to boot my computer (had been attatched to a powerstrip). It seemed to start up but then crashed or something. Now when i turn it on, the beeping alarms starts going off and the computer won't boot...
