Excellent, thank you very much for this! =D
This is really good to know, as it prevented me from making a very costly mistake, lol. Thank you for the knowledge drop!
Appreciate ya! Yeah, so, the ATX motherboard requirement is stemming from the fact that, in some ways, getting an mATX instead seems like I'm neutering the board for the sake of size... while in some cases, paying extra for the privilege. I'm not sold on mATX for my needs (yet) which is why I...
This is going to echo a post I made about GPU selection: If you're choosing a CPU for 3D modeling and scanning (no gaming), are you going Intel or AMD, and why?
And to follow-up, if you need a processor for the above that is low TDP and low wattage, would that change your decision of CPU maker...
If you're choosing a dedicated GPU for 3D modeling and scanning (no gaming), are you going nVidia or AMD, and why?
And to follow-up, if you need a dedicated GPU for the above that is low TDP and low wattage, would that change your decision of GPU maker? If so, how come?
Essentially, I'm...
Is it me, or does there seem to be a disparity with the availability of motherboards natively supporting DDR5-7200 speeds? I see a glut of DDR5-6400 supported motherboards, but what's the deal with -7200? Isn't -7200 a natively supported speed with current generation mobos, chipsets and CPUs...
What options exist for a small(er) case, like a SFF, but can accommodate standard size ATX motherboards (not E-ATX)?
I don't have a ton of desk space, so I am trying to minimize my PC footprint as much as possible. The case cannot be placed on the floor, and given the option, I would rather...
These are great points, I didn't really even realize that at 65TDP, that an AIO, regardless of size, would be overkill on this type of CPU. That said, I think I might reconsider my CPU for something non-neutered when combined with an AIO.
This is also a great point regarding the throughput of...
It's been over 12 years since I last built a PC (currently running an X58 E760, Core i7-750, 780Ti Kingpin) and my PC needs have drastically changed since.
I no longer game, but I am gearing towards productivity (3D modeling and scanning). I have 70% of the parts picked out, but I'm stumped as...
Selling my gently used EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpin Edition videocard. Never overclocked, always ran stock. Comes with original box and all accessories. In excellent condition, and meticulously taken care of. In 100% working condition and comes with back plate installed. Any questions...
Thank you all for the replies.
Would my current system (EVGA X58 E760 Classified motherboard, 12GB Corsair Dominator RAM, Intel i7-950, Intel SSD) be a bottleneck for any reason while playing new titles, such as Battlefield 1 or Titanfall 2? Would using a GTX 1080 with this system present a...
What kind of performance gains/increases will I see if I upgrade from two EVGA GTX 780Ti Kingpins in SLI to a single GTX 1080? Will the difference truly be night and day?
Thank you all for the replies. Doing some research, it looks like we are on the cusp of the impending release of Kaby Lake in 2017, so maybe upgrading right now wouldn't be the best idea.
That being said, I am running two EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpins in SLI and would like to know how well...
Looking for advice and/or recommendations on what Intel platform I should upgrade to for gaming. I am currently using an Intel Core i7-950 (Bloomfield) CPU based on the EVGA Classified E760 X58 LGA1366 platform.
I'm not necessarily looking for bleeding edge tech, but I am trying to find the...
I was using FRAPs, problem is that the file it created was ginormous, and for some reason, it's recording so that everything is upside down when you play it back. WTF.
Anyway, I tried out OBS Studio, as recommended by King Icewind, and absolutely love it. Does exactly what I want, it's free...
Does OBS allow multi-monitor display? For example, can it record an Adobe Connect seminar on my secondary monitor while I'm surfing the web/checking email on my primary display?
What does everyone use for recording their desktop screen? I'm using FRAPs, and not really happy with it.
Curious to see what everyone uses for capturing video on their desktop.
Thanks!
I am thinking about getting an SSD to store my PC games on. At the moment, I have a 300GB WD Raptor that is pulling that duty, but is becoming filled up. I was thinking of going with an Intel 535 series 480GB SSD to replace it. Thoughts on this?
And, I guess this might be a bit subjective...
I have one already, but want to get into the 2K or 4K scene. Trying to find out if one 780Ti Kingpin will run 2K or 4K, or if I need to double up with SLI.
Curious to know the following:
Will a single GTX 780Ti Kingpin run 2K and 4K monitors adequately? What about two GTX 780Ti Kingpins in SLI running 2K and 4K monitors?
There was an awesome site I used that created ad hoc comparison charts for GPUs, and I can't remember what it was.
Does anyone know of a site that does videocard comparisons in chart/table format, and allows you to compare 4-5 GPUs at a time, SLI and non-SLI?
I'd like to upgrade my monitor to something that offers better resolution and graphics display for gaming. I'm currently using a Planar PX2710MW as my gaming display, paired with a single EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpin videocard.
I'm thinking of either getting another Kingpin for SLI or...
Is spending a little money on a Xeon to replace my i7-950 even really worth the performance increase? What kind of performance increase are we even talking about between a Xeon and a i7-950 anyway?
I'm currently using an EVGA 780Ti Classified Kingpin as my sole videocard, paired with a 240GB Intel 530 SSD. I'll be re-using everything else I have, with the exception of the CPU, mobo and likely the RAM.
The budget is pretty flexible. With Black Friday/Cyber Monday being around the corner...
I've been giving some serious thought to making the move from my aging Intel LGA1366 X58 gaming system to something newer. Black Friday/Cyber Monday is around the corner and I'd like to leverage the sales for a new PC build.
Can anyone provide advice or recommend what Intel LGA platform I...
