I haven't but did try the second free weekend- it's worth a try for sure if you are into sandboxes.

Fighting other people was something I enjoyed. Can't see playing in single player mode. The quests are boring. And building a mansion in the desert gets old quick.

Also, to any new players, don't take trooper class at the start. Pick any other class that interests you. You can learn Trooper at around level 5-10 if I remember right, in the first zone at least. The others will take longer to unlock.

Got caught by a worm for the first time. Oof. I hit quicksand as I was being chased so I couldn't turn around because worm was behind me. Good bye stuff lol.

Wife and I picked this up during the Steam sale where they were bundling it with Windrose (which we already had). Been playing on a single player and multiplayer server, two different toons each, obviously. For solo player, I disabled backpack loss on normal death or worm kill only, all other settings at default. Due to what we call herky jerk on multiplayer, it’s sometimes nicer to play solo. My toon just got to duraluminum level (Mark 5, I think). Our multiplayer toons are only at aluminum level.

I like that they position the game as an alternate timeline to the Dune books whilst preserving the overall motif. Missions all feel about the same. Some of the visuals are different but you’re fighting or gathering for the most part. Some of the resource zones don’t make a lot of sense. You need to be in specific zones to find basalt or aluminum but you find copper everywhere, even including when you’re mining in radioactive zones (which I pretty much just got to).

I can’t comment on end-game stuff as I’m not there yet.

I finally got myself a ornithopter, built out of janky parts I got on the market so it is only good for short hops lol. Starting to liquify bodies for water which has helped a ton. I am Harkonnen as they are the real heros keeping the universe moving with spice mining!

I thought that I'd hate the deathstill but I'm having a ton of fun loading bodies into my buggy (now known as The Hearse) for water reclamation!

Yes! I felt the same, but once you start needing lots of water for production, body supply just becomes another raw material need haha. I love how dark that is about the game. My base is a walk to a camp with about 10 bodies :D
