Deus Ex : Mankind Divided

PC gaming is really odd right now. We have things like Xbox Anywhere and Sony's new streaming option. Steam's popularity is at an all-time high. Even most ports have been surprisingly good as of late. My consoles are gathering dust. Yet we still have messes like this.

seems to me like the non-AAA games (Dragon's Dogma etc) are getting released in better quality and with better ports then the big AAA games (Arkham Knight, No Man's Sky, Mankind Divided, Quantum Break etc)

Non-lethal takedowns and weapons do not permanently kill the enemies either, they can be 'waken' up by the enemy.

If you are not the stealthy type, you are fine though, playing stealth with no lethal kills was a nightmare.
Doing Foxiest of Hounds and Pacifist in the same playthrough is murder.

That's exactly what I tried.

I figured that if I went in guns blazing, Foxiest of Hounds would have been quite hard to achieve, so I decided to combine the two into one :D

Still haven't finished it, but I managed to get through the first couple of missions.

Oh, and that wasn't murder, doing as many double takedowns as possible IS murder.

I had some fun moments though. Throwing a garbage can around to get an insurgent's attention, have him come to the toilet, take him down, repeat until room clear, had an entire bathroom filled with sleeping insurgents by the end.

I'm 4 hours in, don't feel like I've done much because I mostly dig around, try to hack things for XP and pillage credits; I really like the game so far, but Sarif's new voice sucks. The new voice actor sounds as if he's trying hard to sound like the original Sarif but lacking the raspy voice.

I'm guessing the original voice actor probably disappears for extended periods of times or doesn't have a proper method of contact.

edit: Found this thread (), the original voice actor may legitimately be a bit crazy.

For sli fix, change the dues ex sli bits to overwatch sli bits in Nvidia inspector. My cards are now pegged at 99% and gained around 7-10fps

One of the first things that I and many others here posted about when the first trailers with Sariff came out was the voice change and how horrible it was.

The voice in DX:HR was one of the best in that game. It was unique, it fit the character and really stood out.

So, in my mind... when I went through Panchea in the first one, I never found Sariff, and he died off camera, and the Sariff in this one is either his kid or some synthetic Sariff 2.0 or something. ;)

Anyone else having Half-Life 2 flashbacks? From the train station and guards to the central/eastern Euro look. The game reminds me a bit of City 17.

I haven't played, but based on the screenshots, the color tones, the architecture, guards with guns standing around citizens, yea.. City 17 was the first thing that crossed my mind!

Even if it isn't something like a flaky actor, sometimes you just can't get someone for a project. Maybe there's a schedule conflict, maybe they demand too much money, whatever. It usually isn't the company just saying "Eh who cares, let's just get someone else!" It is usually that they tried to get the original person, but there's no way to make it happen.

Got blazed last night and finally had the chance to sit down with this for a few hours:

  • Glad it's not just me noticing this, but Sarif's new voice actor is terrible.
  • The Cult of Personality side-quest was trippy as fuck

So I've got a hair over 20 hrs in the game so far, and I've only just now talked to Miller to take my first Mission.

The game certainly has its graphical, micro transactions and port from console flaws, but the game itself is wonderful thus far, I'm loving it. They've really upped the side quest quality especially. If they EVER move to motion capture, this series could be enthralling.

Yeah the animations and especially mouth-sync during cutscenes are pretty sub-par for 2016...Call of Duty typically does a better job.

That said, awesome game so far.

Patch just dropped, supposedly fixes the weird mouse issue and some other stuff:

Full patch notes for update v3.0 build 524.10 are as follows:

  • Adjustments to the Mouse Sensitivity settings, which mean that you can now set sensitivity for the X and Y axis separately.
  • Increased range of Mouse Sensitivity settings.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause missing geometry in the Dubai level.
  • Fixed an issue with player movement and running on stairs and sloped surfaces.
  • Fixed various issues with 21:9 setups.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Unmark All” prompt would stay on screen.
  • Field of view setting now displays the angle used.

You can revert back in case there are issues using the "Beta" function in Steam.

Yeah the Mouse would make everything jitters like crazy a controller didn't have that problem wont' have time to test it untill tuesday.

The story is picking up now. Also the number and overall quality of side quests is pretty impressive. Wish I didn't have obligations today, I would do a marathon.

Man! Just got to the augmented city, and what a bunch of dystopian cyberpunk goodness. Exploring with Jensens new abilities is so much fun.

I'm finding navigation around the main hub area(s) a bit confusing...everything kinda looks the same. Hard to remember where something was or how to get back to it.

in the first section I got to most every place. but then I realized I was probably breaking quests (ie: XP) so I toned it down to not "conclude" things that were obvious conclusions.

I'm having a lot of fun. The game is very similar to the last one, at least to me and the way I typically play. The augmentation system is kind of neat in the way that you can customize things.
My biggest gripe is probably with the control scheme. KB/M feels too jerky no matter what I do. I can set the values to 0, but then even basic looking around is tedious. Anything more than 5% and it seems like mouselook is Jenson jerking his head around as quickly as possible. It's pretty nice on a gamepad, but I wish you could actually remap the controls instead of choosing a scheme. Can't say I'm a fan of the quick menus either. It doesn't seem to affect KB/M, but with a pad you have to be looking right at something to get it to register for picking up/manipulation. They should probably allow for a wider radius.

Performance-wise, I think the game performs better than the benchmark leads you to believe. I haven't run into any FPS dropout zones that lasted more than a second. Seems like they're usually when you first start the game and then 2-3 seconds later you'll never see another one.

Finally got a good amount of hours in over the weekend. Game is awesome! I'd definitely say it is better than the previous one, and I loved that one. I am definitely spending a lot of time just wandering around and checking things out. The environment is very detailed and well done, even when entering buildings like TF29.

My only complaint is that 15% detection chance while hacking really feels like 50% or even 60%...

Yea, the hacking percentages have always felt off to me... And I wish you didn't need the mouse in it- it just feels like you should be able to hotkey run everything while hacking (don't know why, just my opinion). But it certainly seems beautiful so far. I have been so slammed that I am just getting to the firefight at the end of the tutorial (I know, bad gamer!) and at 1440p with an OG 7970 and sane settings (basically high minus motion blur cause I hate it) it seems good.

I dunno if I'm just losing my mind, or paying attention to it too much, but the "Mouse Acceleration" fix they patched in still feels annoying. I have the sensitivity down to 4%, but after cut scenes it feels like the sensitivity gets jacked up for no reason.

And this god damn spacebar quicksave issue is horribly annoying as well.

Outside of this, I'm still enjoying the 20+ hours I have so far.

I don't think the mouse acceleration fix did much beyond allowing you to tweak both the X and Y values. All of the previous quirks are still there. After loading, cutscenes, etc. sometimes the FOV gets wonky, too. I've had 4 patches for the game come through and each one seems to reset a few values.
Hacking feels a bit more basic than last time. It's been a while, but it seems that so far hacking is mostly just about getting to the green nodes ASAP. The other items can give you credits...but that seems like all they do so far. The %'s are a total crapshoot. I've had several 90's that didn't hit and I've had a bunch of 45's that seem to every time.

It's sad that mouse issues are still a problem. Nixxes still doing the port, I wonder what changed cause i felt the mouse movement in HR was not bad at all.

Using a mouse I got stuttering like crazy in graphic intensive areas wasn't sure if was the 1300 DPI I was using on the Mouse. So I switched to a controller instead....

Ditto. I've been using the Xbox One controller and the "Standard" control scheme. It's passable. I kinda wish I could create a hybrid of the Standard and M.D. schemes (mainly for crouching using the right stick), but it's not that big of a deal.

It's a slower paced game like 90% of the time. I played through the last 3 Fallout games and all of the TES games with a pad, so Deus Ex feels natural. It's fairly low on the "twitch" scale, even if you're going straight up Rambo. I really only need a mouse with stuff like Doom, CS, or Unreal where quick aiming trumps everything.

I can see how people would be okay with going controller, but FPS == KB+M for me, no exceptions =P

I can see that. Since I've been gaming on my TV via a couch, I tend to choose my controls based on how twitchy the game is. I've gotten pretty decent at analog stick aiming, so I don't feel as helpless as I used to. Back in the N64 and original Xbox days I used to feel like any first-person game with a pad was a mess of flailing. Now I kinda like the idea of having everything laid out so cleanly even if it is at the expense of aim speed. This game is one of those that I'm on the fence about. I think the messy mouse aim and weird layout for arrow-key users pushed me to go the pad route. If I'm in a crazy firefight, I'm certainly not past swapping back to a mouse temporarily.

What you're experiencing is aim-assist :)

Sure, although you can adjust that (or disable it in some cases). Plus, not every game treats it the same. Plus, I don't really think it's a bad thing. The fact that so much of an FPS game centers around lining up a dot using a device strictly designed for pointing seems a bit pointless at times. The mouse itself is like aim-assist for a rifle, bow, pistol, etc. :p

it's not that bad, actually. i only failed foxiest of the hounds due to that one encounter where they flood the basement you're in with drones. i played on "give me a challenge" and i managed to complete both endgame tasks, by the way.

Yeah it's not impossible, I did it in DX:HR, but it took a lot of save scumming to get it right. There's nowhere to check if you've gotten either so you have to keep an eye out for the Ghost and Smooth Operator XP notifications to pop up. I know I've missed that a few times and had to go several saves in the past to retry an area.
