Star Wars: Battlefront Reboot

I heavily disagree. Comparing Evolve to Star Wars is like comparing a Datsun to a Ferrari.

Woah there, shill. You've only stated their version of trickle-releasing content in the form of DLC / free content is "better" than evolve's. Its still dlc whoring, still fractures community, still ends up in a worse game overall.

I understand that. I'm just saying Evolve went beyond the level of excessive DLCS.

Battlefront really only has two versions. Standard and the season pass. Everything additional (besides the emote)in the deluxe edition is in the game. They just unlock for you instantly.
This is a cash grab move, for sure, but it's kind of pointless to buy the D.E if you don't mind taking an hour or two to unlock those "special items" anyways.
As well, if they really wanted to whore out more, they could have made the preorder bonus of recieving the free DLC Battle of Jakku a week earlier, for just the deluxe edition version, but they didn't. Which is pretty cool, I think. Both preordered versions are granted early access to it.

Evolve has over 25 single DLC purchases that I'm counting on the PS store. Over 25! More heroes, more beasts, more outfits....seriously?

If Dice/EA went this route, a lot of people would still cave and buy it, why? Because its Star Wars.
I'm personally not that big of a Star Wars nerd to do this, but many others would.
But they didn't go this route, that's what I'm saying. For what two huge empires(pun :) ) like EA and Star Wars are, I'm impressed that they aren't.(Atleast not yet.)

Star Wars is what every other movie, game(besides GTA V) and entertainment product wants to be. The top of the food chain.

In the general public, a mention of Star Wars gets attention immediately.

Regardless if a Star Wars game is terrible, or very good, it will probably sell very well.

That's all I'm trying to point out.

dammit I almost had the toe cable hooked up...you have a really small window to hook up the cable so it seems like you need to time things perfectly to execute it

I have a intel G3258 and SLI 970's.

I hope you are overclocking the everloving shit out of that pentium. It's not only likely bottlenecking your SLI, but also the game. Multi-threaded video card drivers + DICE's Frostbite engine that loves quad and hexa cores = murder for a dual core. What was your fps in this game?

Ahh really? Damn. I didn't get a chance to play at all since Sunday. Didn't know the plug was getting pulled so soon and I'm at work so looks like I'll have to wait till release again.

EA at it again lol. They cut half the game away only to charge a DLC later for it...Its really all you gamers faults for buying this crap & fueling EA. Only product I ever owned from EA was 1942 & that was actually good.

Whelp... eff that noise then. I was thinking about actually buying it as it was sort of enjoyable and the single player waves mode was farily fun. $50 "season pass" for $60 DLC that should have been in the game to begin with? Nope, all the nope.

This is why I don't pre-order games anymore.. no point with everything as downloads.

Nothing like not being able to play a turd (that you're forced to play because its all your turdburgler friends do) because you dont have premium.

they need to make the spawn points for the Hero closer to the action...too much time is wasted running to find someone...overall I think the beta helped DICE/EA in regards to some balance issues, bugs, spawn points etc and I'm sure a Day 1 patch will be released to fix a lot of the major issues

spawn points

One of the biggest issues with the Hoth map, currently. If you're an Imperial and you push too far, you suddenly find yourself behind the enemy, and they spawn right in front of you completely unaware and ripe for the picking.

Also, people finally learned how to play the objectives. We didn't lose a single round as Rebels last night. Being on Imperials actually feels like a challenge now.

yeah i played on two different servers last night back to back where i got destroyed while playing on the Imperial side. one game the walkers were destroyed in the first set of objectives, next game it was the 2nd. people have definitely figured out a proper strategy which is fun, but frustrating depending on your side of the battle :D. i also had some really fun Drop Zone games with lots of back and forth and last minute surges for victory.

How should DLC they haven't even started working on yet be in the game to begin with? I know other studios doing "cut content" is lame but DICE doesn't really have a track record for doing that. If the complaint is that all future DLC should be free period, then that's a separate (and futile) topic.

They finish the main game and then post-launch they finish the first XPACK. Granted, XPACK1 is probably close to done when the game launches, but XPACK 2, 3 and 4 were barely in planning stages when for example BF3 and BF4 launched.

EA has been doing the season pass thing since BF3 so I don't know how people are still surprised.

The spawning system drives me insane. I'll be fighting for or defending an objective, die, then respawn on the other side of the map because the game decided I should be doing something else somewhere else. At least let me choose to try to defend something I worked for.

Yeah I had fun and was also thinking about getting it, but really thought it should be around $30 so I was torn. This DLC thing pushed me to the no side. I might pick it up in a future sale or wait for a bundle with all the DLC as long as there's a decent player base left when that time comes.

Game is pretty good, and the graphics are really next generation.

But this DLC business model for multiplayer games does not work well anymore, it's dated. EA could probably make more money and have customers happier at the same time with an updated business model.

Yeah being on the imperial side wasnt an automatic win last night. the one we lost the at-tt was right in front of the generators. those rebel scum:D

I loved that game! Jedi Academy was a little lame, but Jedi Outcast and KOTOR are two masterpieces IMO.

Absolutely... Loved those. Play through Jedi academy and outcast and kotor once every couple years. Had a blast with all of them.

I liked the beta and I'll be getting the game. I haven't played any Star Wars games for a long while so maybe that's why I got so into it, being a fan and having a blast years ago playing a whole bunch of different SW games.

I'm hoping the other levels are of better design, but aside from that I was happy with it. Graphics were great of course.... On PS4 at least. Sound as well. Didn't really care about the busted spawn points. I loved the fact that I experienced no lag at all and joining a game literally took 2 seconds every time. Really impressed by that.

download the mod "movie battles 2" for jedi academy its a completely different game and so so so much more fun. Still tons of active players

I'll buy it at some point, but with the currently awful USDCAD exchange rate, it's $80CAD which is too much. I did have a lot of fun playing the beta even with the issues at hand. Especially last night, lots of close matches on Hoth coming right down to the wire (for both sides). Drop Zone fun as well once I finally got the jump pack + shield + grenade combo in addition to the last gun unlock.

I know it probably won't happen but I'm hoping for even a $20 off sale around Christmas. I seem to remember that happening with BF3 or 4 (on sale within a month of release).

Also reading the last few replies gave me hard nostalgia for KOTOR. Wish Bioware would make a new one. Just reskin Mass Effect in the Star Wars universe and I will be happy even though it's dumbed down.

is Green Man Gaming the same gray market type of site like CDKeys?...or are they less gray and more legit?...I have no interest in gray market European/Russian type of sites no matter how cheap they sell a game for but GMG seems more legit for some reason

i mean, the original battlefront was so much fun as well. i remember player vs bots for hours on end and having the time of my life. rolling around as the rolling turret druid thingy was amazing. what a fucking game that was.

No, GMG is an authorized reseller. There's a listing somewhere on their site about it.

Pretty much any reseller on Cheapshark is legit. I wonder if proxy-buying through Origin Mexico still works ;)

For those still on the fence its worth the GMG preorder discount is usually good for a week after release.

I've never ordered from Greenmangaming. How do I go about obtaining the coupn/promo code? I want to buy Battlefront, but want to save a few bucks.

Thanks.

According to a community manager for the game, and a developer at DICE, Walker Assault on Hoth, in the beta, was actually unbalanced...when a player asked community manager Mathew Everett why he hadn't won as a Rebel - "does this mean I suck?" - Everett replied: "Nope! Its a balancing issue within the beta."

then lead multiplayer designer Dennis Brännvall said something similar: "Yeah it's [being a Rebel is] too tough. We'll make changes based on the feedback and data."

Aww, what will we do without annoying mic spammers and people babbling in a foreign language now.. :D

Ingame VOIP was the first thing I disabled in BF4. Not 5 minutes into launching the game for the first time some guy was already going completely mental into his mic. Nope.gif

Proximity VOIP can work in some games - Arma 3 for example since it attracts a certain type of player - but not in a run and gun action game like this.

Yeah, I'm with you. I don't care about in game VOIP. If I'm playing with friends, there are much better options for communicating. Any game that has a global voice chat gets instantly muted. I don't give a damn about listening to 12 year olds screaming nonsense the entire game.

I think it should at least be an option. Idk honestly I'm aware I'm being a big wet blanket on this game. I found myself not even bothering to play anymore after I unlocked lv5. I don't like the game so far. Its lacking just a plethora of features, balancing and mechanics I'm used to in BF or most FPS's of late. My finger son the order button I just want to see the post release reviews and gameplay.
