Batman: Arkham Knight

If you got this from a third party reseller or an Nvidia code and you can't get a Steam refund, at least write a negative review for it on its Steam page.

I want to see that 'Mostly Negative' turn into an 'Overwhelmingly Negative'

Still sounds like the main problem is them not doing the PC port in house, thou to be honest, they are kind of douche-bags for throwing Iron Galaxy under the bus. We may never know if it truly was their fault, or them not getting the support from Rocksteady they needed. But boy were they quick to blame them for everything. God, its got to suck to be a scapegoat because the main guys were too lazy or cheap to do a proper job themselves.

You and I are close. I'm going to switch out my 780 for a 980Ti tomorrow and expect a world of difference. In the mean time I'll probably do the same thing you did.

Yes, people with "beast" computers should be kicking ass but apparently that isn't the case across the boards.

But....but....but GtX 980 Ti, can you really justify the price that you're spending?

This might be what Nvidia wants people to do, They deliberately tweak the in game graphical settings so that people will have to upgrade "sooner" than later. They even gimped the Keplar drivers for Witcher 3, remember?

Had the Physx, Gameworks, and game been tweaked and optimized from the get-go, There would not be a need to Upgrade your video card. You would just tweak Anti-Aliasing and Texture Quality, and go from there.

As much as I'm a big fan on the Arkham Series, and i weaseled my way into playing all the Batman games with High Physx by having the right-set-up, and as much as i want to be able to play with full immersion on Arkham Knight....

I just can't justify spending $650 just for a game that should have been pc-ready since day 1.

But please, keep us posted if your problems go away when you do the upgrade.

So glad I did not pre-order this garbage. Sorry to all those having issues out there... :(

Yup. (I didn't buy it for this game. I have been planning to buy it since I learned about it.)

Then the drivers got updated.

Seems a bit paranoid but I guess I can't rule it out.

Possible although this "optimized" term is a bit of a catch all and it may be easier said than done.

Like I said Batman AK was not the reason I bough the card. I'd never buy a piece of hardware for one game. I intend to keep that card for probably the next couple of years or so.

I'll let you know on differences before and after.

Exactly. I doubt anyone (myself included) buys a high end card just for one game. I plan on playing all AAA titles, and then some. Can't get much better than the 980Ti if you can find one, they're perfect for high end gaming.

Well, I just encountered glitch #1 so far. While dive tackling an enemy, if a car drives along, it is possible to both tackle the enemy and grab on to the top of the car, which leaves a tackled enemy magically flying along side the car as you ride it.

I just saw a video of an AMD card running this game on Rock paper Shotgun, and wow it is really sh*t. That is absolutely nothing at all like what I am playing on my 970.

Or you could verify file integrity, get those files, and then play the game.

doing just what nv wants you to do have a better idea refund this pile till they fix it devs have to learn release and patch later is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by pc users peorid

With shit works turned off game runs 30fps locked at 1920x1200 with everything else on high, (normal textures no option to go higher) on my normal Titan.

PC games that run like shit are not a conspiracy by Nvidia to force you to buy 980ti's.

The tinfoil haberdashery in this thread is something else.

Running great over here

game also runs great for me...with single titan X @ 3440x1440
have you guys checked your vram usage? because it uses nearly 7GB at my resolution
how much vram does the game use for 1080p, 2560x1440, and 4k?

i'm running game with everything but AA turned on
avging 45~55 fps with dips into mid 30's during intense scene

Business, could you describe the settings you're using, and what types of framerate you're seeing?

Fullscreen - 1920x1080 and everything on except vsync, fog and debris.

The gameworks rain effect is incredible. Best rain since Black Flag and it works great with the light rays.

When I get home from work tonight I'll change the ini file to the 60fps cap instead of 30 and share the results. I get stuttering from time to time but nothing that renders the game unplayable and overall I've had a fantastic experience minus the jerky as fuck camera when it comes to combat finishers and the batmobile.

Btw, first person on the batmobile is awesome, lol.

2560x1600 and I get around 43-44fps AA off and it maxes at around 3600 MB see my earlier post, that was what I got for benchmarks. I still can't run the display server in afterburner only in this game. I just can't figure out why. Anyone else having issues with afterburner and displaying the OSD in this game?

benchmark uses only up to 6gb vram @ 3440x1440 but it uses up to 6.8gb ingame
and yea i can't get it to display the OSD so i just use steam's fps overlay

Does the allowopengl setting in the ini file work?
I would assume it's a switch for the upcoming Linux version, due to be released in the fall. I don't think it works on Windows.

Imagine how bad the Linux version is going to be. You guys think AMD performance is bad now? You ain't seen nothing yet.

Hmm, I wonder if they did that on purpose on PC. You may not get that rain look on the costume without the rain FX gameworks stuff turned on.

Some of the screens above from Business6 look like they have that rain texture.

So to sum up: PC version has no AO, no rain effect on textures, a much less pronounced DoF effect, and huge memory leaks which lead to stuttering or single-digit framerate on some setups. Apparently the fucking PS4 version looks better and runs at a locked 30FPS.

If it was missing keyboard+mouse controls it'd contend for one of the worst PC ports in history.

Glad I decided to wait until I bought a Fury X or 980Ti. Now I'll just wait until the inevitable $10 fixed GotY edition.

Or I could wait a week for them to bake the game a little more so I can get the experience that I would like instead of the scruffy condition the game is in at present.

And yes, I have re-verified and no, it hasn't made it any faster/better. If you have SLI, it is most definitely broken as it performs the same as when in single card mode. The "force in AFR mode 1" in the nvidia control panel profile tells me that it is a temporary holding fix whilst something is sorted out on both Nvidia and Rocksteady's respective ends.

As it is a free game code acquisition for my library, I'm not too dissapointed - but it is shitty as a paid purchase. I wish demo's would come back, but alas those days are long gone...

It's really a shame that this thing came out in this state. It just shouldn't have happened.

Another Batman game on PC runs like shit? Business as usual. Hopefully the thousands upon thousands of Steam refunds will shock the shit out of Warner Brothers.

I have a feeling Steam Refunds will put a serious dent in PC development.
Think about all the shitty ports that wouldn't exist at all if they knew refunds were possible.

Volition may have given up after Saints Row 2, we would have never gotten 3 or 4 on PC.
GTA IV, maybe we never would have seen GTA 5 either.

When a company only cares enough about PC to make shitty ports and rake in easy cash, they would rather NOT MAKE PC GAMES than deal with refunds stealing their money. Dark days ahead.

Squirrel, don't troll.
Only stupid studios that don't care about their reputation would do that, and quite honestly, let them go. Everyone else will step up their game and take it seriously.

There is too much potential for extra money to be made on the PC for companies to ignore it. Though, if companies get pissy about their shit ports not selling well and they don't want to inflict them on us anymore I have no problem with that.

You're just more optimistic than I am.
Steam Refunds will either encourage developers to work harder on PC ports or stop making them entirely.
