Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

So is there a fansite w/ moderated class forums dedicated to real build discussion/theory crafting? Too much trade spam on the official ones.

do an AH search for the following

min level req = 60
reduced level req = 9

max buyout = whatever your budget

buy best weapon available for budget, trivialize content, start on road to buying upgrades purely through AH

there will be cheap weapons with much higher DPS than 270

Thanks for that tip, just bought a way better weapon for my level 35 barbarian for 5000 gold. Doubled my DPS!! Any hints for this for other equipment?

That would be awesome for me. I'll have to check EZ-mart (tm) for something similar.

wow! I snagged a 750 dps sword with +104 str, +~65vit, 374 LoH and a socket that I put a star amethyst into for another +300 LoH.

I think my barb will be able to use this sword for quite a long while. I don't know how sweet this is for a level 60 but it's super OP for me.

I would like to know this too. Every time I go to the official class forums its just a bunch of people trying to sell stuff.

Anyone know the price of this 1hand bow?

1hxbow.png

That's nice... good dmg, dex and awesome LOH.

Millions

or straight to RMAH for 100$

The original dii.net used to be pretty good for Diablo 2, the site changed domains though and is now known as diablo.incgamers. They probably have some good stuff related to Diablo 3

http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/forum.php

That site is still nice, especially for just straight up D3 news. Even though it changed names, it is still run by the same people that created dii.net.

I probably put the /r/diablo3strategy over most. Has the least bit of nonsense/trolling compared to all other alternatives :p

It's also far less frequented than the regular /r/diablo - which I see as a huge plus, cuz /r/diablo is mostly QQ nowadays.

Are there websites to check the RMAH of items without going into bnet? I have this 1000+dps magic bow need to get rid of

Yea, I have a ~950 dps 2 handed xbow that simply will not sell. No LoH, but OK stats. AH has slowed down considerably. They need a content patch or loot update.

lol, they just *increased* loot drops, that is the reason junk isn't selling. The bar has been raised. A 950dps crossbow without supporting stats like crit and a socket for more crit is vendor junk.

Probably because the vast majority of the player-base likely cannot afford the prices that people want to charge for items these days, especially weapons.

Yea, once prices get corrected, it should pick back up again. Just a market reaching equilibrium...

Game is just dying unfortuantly, this is why im gambling all my gold in the hopes of finding a gem that might actually sell for money. Jack shit is shifting for me on the RMAH unless its under a tenner. A cross bow under 1 K dps jsut does not sell. I sold a 1067 DPS with a socket for 8 pounds the other day.

I'm burnt out on the game got 300+ hours played on my main char, once ive flogged my stuff there is no way im grinding anymore. Money has been my only incentive to play since i killed diablo inferno anyway.

ALAST my skull grasp sold for 65 quid im happy :D this makes up for that terrible mistake with the amulet

Not just that, but as people get better geared, the demand for so-so gear will go down.

I'm not sure if the game is dying, but if you just keep adding items to the player base without a natural way to remove them, it gets very very saturated. While it may be dying, I'm thinking we are hitting the item saturation point...

This is what needs to be understood. The game has been out one and a half months. The gold auction house has seen changes, and the RMAH was released on June 12, and has thus been active less than a month. Since release, there have been several changes to gameplay and items. What we are seeing is typical market forces working to reach equilibrium. The equilibrium prices will also likely be much lower than the early run on items at high prices that we saw.

Things will probably settle down and be predictable a month or two before patch 1.1, then things will go back into upheaval and we'll see another 3-6 months of market craziness.

Isn't this what everyone wanted though? This is exactly what would happen when you increase drop rates. Seems like it should be a non issue based on player feedback, right?

No, people just wanted their current issue fixed. How could they have known that changing something in a system will have effects?! :D

Well yeh probably for the better, anyone with a ranged class had it too easy making money before the patch. because inferno was so crappy people would spend all day Bugging mobs. You can still do this with the map layouts in act 3 but its pointless now. People would also spend all day bugging mobs in pony land too

So as a quick update (unrelated to the AH moaning) - I obliterated Belial with my Monk simply by changing to Mantra of Conviction/overawe and (although not necessary, proved handy) swapping to fists of thunder/thunderclap. Doing just fine through Act III.

After all that progress with my Monk I thought I would switch things up and see if I could get my Demon Hunter relevant again. I didn't have any particular build focus before, just a >1k DPS bow, lots of dex, with a bit of attack speed. I hadn't played the DH in ages since starting my Monk. It was refreshing/fun to fiddle with stats again, particularly after not playing for a while - there was no sense of "oh no, don't change that stat out, how will I xyz" given that I was no longer familiar with the playstyle.

So I decided to put a few hundred thousand into the AH and now have the beginnings of a crit-focused build which is *super* satisfying to play as. I love (literally) exploding crowds and doing massive DPS...though I'm sure the glass part of glass cannon will frustrate me again at some point. Act I is a doddle, and I haven't pushed Act II much, but I think with a tank lending a hand I would be OK. OK until goddamn Belial...

To a certain extent, the market saturation isn't a big deal. I'd bet it's balanced by the loss of players and the 10 item cap on AH. I don't really mind getting 10k for what was once a 100k item, that's just how the market works. I just wish there was new loot and more people to trade with.

Exactly. Gear like that isn't anything special any more. You can find xbows like that for 10k or less on the AH.

Unless gear has a combination of desirable stats, it's basically vendor junk. And a few extra points here and there of those desirable stats makes something go from worth a few hundred k to many millions.

I can't sell anything on the RMAH but I sell fairly steadily on the gold. It is just rediculous though how it has basically become only the best of the best is actually an upgrade and I am not spending 100+ million on anything. I haven't even seen over 20 million at one time yet.

I was actually selling that crossbow for 8k with high dex and resists. :p

I don't just randomly toss stuff up for whatever price pops into my head. I farmed the bazaar in EQ for years, I know how this stuff works.

I almost always undercut the market to push gear out, not really looking for a profit, more looking for my next upgrade. I'm just pointing out the steep gap between items. Stuff is either worth 10k or 5 million.

Drops should be more logical if an item is class specific it should never have non-useful stats. E.G. wands with STR or barb items with INT.

diablo is all about getting items with horrible rolls didnt you know ? :p

Stuff is either worth 10k or 5 million.

This is largely due to the fact that most people are actually pretty well geared now relatively speaking.

As the population moves up the gear curve, it becomes increasingly hard to get upgrades. The high end gear, which was always valuable, will continue to increase in price due to gold inflation.

Simultaneously, the low-mid tier gear has massively deflated (very evident with those poor man inferno clear videos). The demand for this gear is low so despite gold inflation, their prices have gone down.

In terms of gear farming, this makes it so that the vast majority of your drops becomes vendor fodder. You either strike it big or vendor it.

I was hoping HC would last me until 8/28, but I lack the motivation to level up again. My Wizard's gear wasn't actually that expensive relative to the HC market since I was saving up to dump it all at once to make the 'big leap'. I have enough banked in HC to re-gear to at least what my gear level was at before I died. I was comfortably farming A1 so I saw no reason to upgrade... until that one pack literally instantly killed me. Interestingly, my brother's HC monk died to a similar pack - also instantly. We think there might be something up with electricity affix on elites. Who knows.

i've never had 1 million gold and I can destroy act 2 like its nothing.

shit is cheap

I think the gear cost disparity has quite a bit to do with the general uselessness of level 56-59 gear. It's like "incremental, incremental, incremental, holy shit 1300 dps sword!". There is very rarely a need to buy new gear during those last few levels before 60.

I think they should introduce some unique modifiers to alleviate certain cookie cutter upgrade tendancies as well. It would be nice to have gems be a bit more varied, too.

I do think you might be right about certain lightning affix mobs. I rolled across one a couple days back farming act 1 on my Monk with ~700 resists that exploded me faster than anything I've seen before. It was the first elite I've had to completely ignore since I started playing the game.

How is that even possible now ;s even when the game started i managed to get 4 million, and nowdays you can sell items for millions that aint amazing.

i mean ive never like had a million

ive gone through a couple million in gold but never saved till i hit a million does that make sense? haha

cause i always buy gear for like 100k or less

I'm with you. Max in my stash at one time was just over 1 million. My largest sale was like 500k.

I have 2 level 60 melee classes to support ;)

My stats say I've earned somewhere in the 5mil area overall.

My strat on the gold AH is I just list it at whatever the minimum the game pops up in the window with no buyout. Unless it is something really good. I actually listed 700 Inferno essences at double going rate and after 3 relistings they sold. Someone out there must acutally try and smith some things but it seems like a total loss as everything I ever tried was total crap. And at 100K plus per attempt for high end stuff who would even try it?

I found crafting useful while levelling (to about 45-50?) but after that it's too expensive for the "chance" at something good. Might as well browse the AH, spend less money in the long run, and get somethingyou know the stats of, before you buy.

because of "gearflation", there is a shit load of gear and it never decays / is destroyed. So everytime someone loots a good piece of gear and sells it on the AH, there is less of a market unless people re-roll.
