Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

As with all LCD TV's standard def, is a little bit more grainy. But It's still watchable and quite impressive compared to other LCD's standard def quality. Also if you set your cable box to only output 720p it will look a lot better and fill the whole screen.

if u want to watch TV or HDTV, you should do it through the PC outputting 1080p60 to the display.

the PC can properly scale and deint all the content to proper quality. HDTV/TV/DVD content looks so much nicer when going through PC vs. standalone and letting the display deinterlace things.

Hey everyone i have a question i'm hoping someone can hep me with...

I just setup a new 42-W2 on my 8800gtx using the drivers released 12-19. i have a slight (minimal) problem i cant seem to figure out and i cant locate anything about thus far (browsed a ton of pages on here / AVS).

When i put it into 1080p resolution, the screen is slid about 1/8th to 1/6th of an inch "up". Meaning, at the top of my screen, theres a tiny bit thats not shown, and at the bottom there is a small bar beneth my actual start menu. this same thing carries over into games and other apps. the color of this bar actually changes depending on whats going on, so in windows its "grey".

am i stupid here? i've looked through the menu options under picture and can't seem to find anything to "slide" it down but i almost feel its some type of software tweak since when i put it to other resolutions its fine.

any thoughts? i own a 37 W3 as well and never ran into this issue.

i was just about to attach a screenshot of my desktop using just printscreen / pasting it into paint but the thing is it doesnt show it in paint. so i may retract my software statement.

thanks in advance.

Maybe try going to NVIDIA Control Panel and changing one of the settings in "Change flat panel scaling", maybe try the "Do not scale" option.

Other than that, there should be some kind of pixel 1:1 option checked if it isn't already on the monitor.

yea i thought about that but thats only for scaling at resolutions below the normal...

the new drivers released on the 19th are back to the old nvidia driver panal too btw which i love. :D

What's the deal with the 37W3SE? I'm about to order one for my xbox 360. Does this work on a PC? I remember there being some sort of EDID issue or something... Is there a fix?

I've had mine hooked up to my 360 for months now..Just fine..And for those months, it's doubled as my PC monitor. I believe they fixed the issue, if not, Blahman has spent time figuring out the fix and a way to get it to work right if you do have that issue. I, luckily, got one of the good batches from way back when, haven't heard of recent purchases having the problem....

Oh yea, I also watch HD-DVD's on mine..So, triple duty for my Westy! I love it! But most of the time is spent using it as my PC monitor...

Awesome! Are there any differences in the panel/PQ from the older non SE version? Is the PQ comparable or better than an MVA or IPS panel PC display?

Are they using a different panel type now? I have one of the older non SE version with the MVA panel and like the guy above i use it from games, movies, tv, but mostly for PC usage and its been great.

I don't know if they are, just wondering if they did. I'm sure whatever they are using is comparable to the MVA I use now.

I don't think so...I could be wrong, but I don't know why they would change it, to be honest.

Lets see, Compared to my Dell 2407, I think the color and PQ is much better...

I hope the S3 is good, I will have mine in 2-3 weeks. Seeing this panel type makes me happy.

Well, there was a price drop/rebate, so I did a drive-by purchase...:p This is the Westinghouse 37" LVM-37W3SE version, check the link, there is also a HUGE thread here about these displays, and I can't wait to get my hands on it...hit the link for price details....

My price before the $100 mail in rebate was $859.xx shipped to me...pretty good price for the features and size of this 1080p display...

Yeah, it will be, I got rid of my 24" and am using a plain non-widescreen 19" until the westy arrives....it's gonna be wonderful, but I hate waiting.....

Good gawd.....that pic really shows how much difference between a 24" like I had, and what the new one is going to be like!!! HUGE....

Holy crap I want a 37" monitor....My desk space is far back enough too that it would be GREAT but not too close to my face.... now.... do I have $850 lying around??? nope, nope I don't

Neither did I, I sold my 24" for $350, sold a 19" regular lcd for $85 that I fixed with $5 worth of capacitors (was thrown away from work)....and I am going to help my father in law on a couple of auto body jobs over the next 2 weeks so I can pay my amex bill when it comes in :)

*UPDATE ON RMA*

I originally started my RMA request on the 16th of November.

They received the monitor on the 4th of December. They will have had it 4 weeks as of tomorrow, still no update on when its going out.

The have filled out numerous requests to try and figure out when I should expect it with no luck.

Just keep this in mind before purchasing, I wouldn't wish this poor of customer service on my worst enemies.

Heh, it's hard to get used to at first bootup, but after awhile it's hard to use a regular monitor.

I thought it would be hard on the eyes to use, but it's not at all. You get used to just staring at portions of the screen at once, instead of the whole thing.

The only downside I can see to this as a PC monitor is it's limited to 1900x1080, which is only a downside if you have the hardware to run games at a higher resolution than that. That aside, I love mine so far.

After ordering my Westinghouse from Onsale.com on September 4th. Onsale shipping it poorly, and UPS damaging the crap outta it (hence previous pictures). I've finally got my new baby today.

Crappy phone camera, since my digital is being dumb and not working, i'll get better pictures later this week when i get the digital camera fixed.

Geez, I am sick of waiting for mine....holiday tomorrow jacks my delivery time till thursday.....:p

I got 2 when the $799 costco deal came up back in June-July. Happy to say that both came with zero dead pixels and costco's two year warranty if anything came up.

I have to say it's the best gaming/multimedia purchase I have made. My roommate and I love em to death.

Sorry bout the messy desktop :) , was in the middle of organizing the left pc when they arrived.

so is this still the best option for a pc/360 setup??? is there something else that will come out with higher contrast ratio or anything?

i def dont have the money, but it looks sweet.

Your first picture, with the two Westys side by side in the same room, in use by TWO different users... is one of the best setups I've seen on these boards.

Glad to see there are so many new owners. My own 37" will turn 1 next week and I'm still convinced it's the best purchase I've made in a long time (although the movie buff should indeed look elsewhere, due to black levels; good thing I don't really care!)

I got my 37W3SE in today! I am at work, but I was able to unpack it and hook it up via VGA to a pc on our back parts desk, and it works. No shipping damage, etc.

I am in LOVE, can't wait to get home and hook it up via DVI to my rig, I will post some pics before and after.

It's seems even bigger than I anticipated, wow, I think FSX and Crysis, not to mention CoD4 and Red Orchestra, will look fantastic..... *drools like Cujo* :p

Holy shit, this is a BIG pc display. Incredible....got to move some things around, and I am going to take some pics of my boy playing...pics soon!!!!

when do u think these monitors will be totaly gone? i want to get one but not till like 6 months or so.

They're already getting hard to find, aren't they?

Either get one now, or be prepared to start researching a different one in six months. :)

Well...been damn busy playing with this thing, grabbed a couple pics....and I suck at taking photos so by the time I resize/compress to .jpg....let me just say playing CoD4, Crysis, Red Orchestra, CoD2, and FSX has been incredible......the IQ is great for gaming....desktop use is HUGE....

My son....

I'm thinking about picking up one of these locally.

So this thing doesn't come with TV tuners right? I can't plug my dorm cable into it and watch TV on it?

Dunno if that's a deal-breaker for me or not. Is there a cheap solution to it not having the coax input? Shitty regular TV quality or not, I'd still like the option to watch football and stuff on it. Hmm.

No, no tv tuner, you would need a pci based tv tuner/capture card in your computer, you can get a decent one for ~45 bucks....
