Had no idea this thread was still going. I still own three FW900's (well one SGi) and use the SGi here in my new apartment to play my console fighters. The other two sit in a storage room with their future's uncertain, not started up in 2 years. I will have to go back and read if there is any...

    DAC Recommendations ~$200

I don't think the Odac can sound any better or worse than anything else around it. It can do math better which is its entire job. I mean it was designed and built out of spite to beat dac's costing hundreds more and simply by being the most accurate it can be.

If I didn't have three I would consider one in excellent condition but for less and only with at least a picture in a CL ad.

I don't have any disk drives at all in my new PC. Any movie watching comes in the form of downloaded media. I have found a point of diminishing returns on 1080p content with H264 to sit around 6-8 gigs per hour. So a 15gig 1080p BluRay rips seem to be the best quality you need in order to take...

Native Hz for movies and TV is irrelevant with modern shader controls. Setup MPC-HC with the MadVR renderer and even at 85Hz you will never want for anything more

The AG comes off all the FW900's The second one I got had it off and I removed the first and third monitors coatings. So much better. Just make sure the screen doesn't face any light sources.

Hey Unkle Vito, Welcome back! I wanted to invite you to be a mod on the subreddit dedicated to the FW900. It isn't very populated right now but if / when it does start taking help requests and showoff posts it will be a WHOLE LOT more organized than this 6,000 page post...
