Just did it. Wow... Huge difference.
Cool! I never did remove mine, it was stuck on there until the old gal gave up the ghost. I keep my eyes on craigslist for a replacement. I'm not ready to move to LCD yet.

1920x1200@96hz is definitely possible.Thank you to all of you for the tons of useful information! I just got one, I can't say brilliant condition, but it's OK. I have one question - I've managed through registry tweaking to get 1920x1200@95Hz, but I can't get it to 96Hz. Is it cable limitation?
Not sure, but I would recommend sticking at 85 hz. Is there a reason you want 96?
96 is 24*4 so I'd expect television things to run well at it.
try Custom Resolution Utility http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU
The maximum for 1920x1200 is 94Hz. If you are able to get more / or if you force the monitor to achieve more, than thats not good for the life of the monitor.
You should not use it with this configuration, stay with 85Hz.

I think I even got it to run at ~101hz with customs timings if I remember correctly.
Zeos, do you watch blu rays on your FW900? I've looked briefly into doing this (I already have MadVR set up), and apparently the only way to do it with MadVR is by ripping the blu-ray to hd first. Have you found any more convenient solutions (that don't include using an external blu-ray player and using an HDMI-VGA adaptor)?
watching high quality 1080p video on this monitor is jaw dropping!
Sorry to ask but regarding the F520...you've given it a good cleaning? (I use Walgreen's "Professional Lens Cleaner" since way back as it's indicated for coated optics. Other formulations often are anti-static, which is to be avoided per Sony's instructions...)
Then again there are 40 gig rips out there if you want to spend a week downloading.
This Copy of Cowboy Bebop is around 2 gigs per ep http://i5.minus.com/ib1jWkxe0Yvfa4.jpg and this copy in 10bit color of Game of Thrones http://i5.minus.com/iE6iQz4e7LymI.png is 5-7 gigs an episode. Yes, that is a screenshot from the video through tweaked MadVR.
Per Unkle Vito, the F520's coating is baked on.
(And I also just looked at my F520 with a flashlight and there is no applied film. Just the glass is there...)
Not sure what to say about a coating turning yellow...apparent even when off...sun damage or something?
The AG coating on the F520 tubes is built into the glass. Not all the 15X and 16X tubes have AG coating built into the glass. Some have the AG film on it and the best way to find out is to open the case and look for a small round sticker on the tube that reads "F" which means film.
Hope this helps...
UV!
interesting - what would you recommend for cleaning the glass after removing antiglare on an FW900?
i like this monitor and want it to use as my main screen for gaming but i have one problem:
the screen is a bit yellowish. i mean even when its turned off it has a yellow tint on the glass, when i look inside( its most seen on black backgrounds).

1920x1080@120hz isn't possible because the pixel clock is too high for the FW900.WOW that must have been a lot of tweaking. Have you tried 1920x1080 @120Hz, that would be awesome for 3D.
