Is it safe to put arctic silver on the gpu?

found out it was a problem with the driver, right now just been using the generic windows driver for audio. haven't had any problems with the mic.

When I plug in my mic after booting into windows vista the mic doesn't work. If i have it in before booting into windows it works. What's the deal with this. Is there an option to fix this?

I'm having a problem updating the drivers on my new gateway fx. I tried updated the driver to forceware 175.12 from laptopvideo2go.com; however, still says im using forceware version 167.46. Any Ideas?
