When I plug in my mic after booting into windows vista the mic doesn't work. If i have it in before booting into windows it works. What's the deal with this. Is there an option to fix this?

I'm guessing you have the Gateway FX (i've got the same). I had the same issue. When you plug in the mic, you then have to open up the IDT audio control panel (This is found in windows control panel). On the right side, you will see something that says "jacks". The second one should be set for Device: Mic.

I have to do this everytime I plug in the mic.

Hope that helps,
che

found out it was a problem with the driver, right now just been using the generic windows driver for audio. haven't had any problems with the mic.
