Wait 4-6 weeks for 5850 Xtreme or cancel and get a 6870?

Thanks guys. I went scatched the 5850 order and bought the Gigabyte 6870 from Newegg. That should be a nice leap up from my 4870.

Wait 4-6 weeks for 5850 Xtreme or cancel and get a 6870?

Well, I don't intend to do any bitcoin mining. I'm not really even sure what that is - :D Is there a comparable N-vidia card that has similar power consumption?

Wait 4-6 weeks for 5850 Xtreme or cancel and get a 6870?

I'm finally getting around to replacing the old, but venerable 4870 in my i5 system. I've had an order in with Amazon for about 5 weeks now for the Sapphire 5850 Xtreme at $150 shipped. I just got an e-mail today that the expected ship date is late July - early August. I hear that new 5850...

    Amazon.com 5850/5870 Pre-Order tracking thread

Ordered mine on Oct 29 at $259 and left the order open since I wanted, but did not absolutely NEED, the XFX 5850. I haven't gotten an e-mail yet, but the order status now says "We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed." Hmmmm.

    Best bang for my buck..

If you go i5 (+1 on that being your best option), be mindful to get 1.5V-1.6V ram. P55 boards no likey the higher voltage flavors.

    Anyone check this build?

Lots of folks like XFX due to their double lifetime warranty (you + a subsequent owner). I've used EVGA and MSI cards in the past with no problems at all. Good luck on the 5850 anytime soon unless you want to pay a premium for it. When I ordered my stuff back in late October, there were no...

    Building my first cpu

I was initially going to go AMD on my most recent build (budget similar to yours), but after doing quite a lot of checking around, I ended up following the i5 750 route. I haven't yet OC'ed my i5 yet (I haven't needed to), but it's nice to know that I can bump it up to 3.2 GHz w/o a voltage...

    Anyone check this build?

I followed enginurd's good advice about the CPU cooler and got the CM Hyper 212+. It cools the i5 750 nicely and is a bargain. As far as finding one at Newegg, back in October, they were going in and out of stock every few days. If you simply get on the auto-notify list, you should get...

Help Building a $1000 Gaming PC

Looks good. The only change I'd suggest you consider is the HAF922 case from Coolermaster. I used the HAF922 last month on a build very similar to yours and I'm quite pleased with it. Newegg has 'em for $89 free shipping right now...

    Amazon.com 5850/5870 Pre-Order tracking thread

True dat. I just today got the e-mail from Amazon wanting me to confirm that I still want the card I had ordered on 10/29 for $259, even though they again revised the expected delivery date to January 19, 2010 - February 5, 2010. Oh yes, I still want it at that price.:D

    Amazon.com 5850/5870 Pre-Order tracking thread

Care to say where? Most of what I've seen listed lately has been backordered, out-of-stock, or at a greatly increased price. "In-Stocker Tracker" shows the Sapphire at the Egg right now for $309, but nothing else. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102857

    Amazon.com 5850/5870 Pre-Order tracking thread

I just got an e-mail from Amazon revising my XFX 5850 expected ship date to 12/24/09 (it had been 11/20-12/3). They asked, of course, if I wanted to cancel the order. I'm just going to let the order sit and wait for the card @ $259 shipped. I can get by OK for now using the MSI 4870 that I...

need help choosing PSU for x2 5850's

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371022 - $139 shipped. 750W, 4x25A 12V rails. Excellent reviews. I picked up one for my i5 build figuring on the possibility of using CF 5850s in the future.

ATI Radeon 4770 or Geforce GTS 250

If you can find a 5850, go for it. I'm on the Amazon waiting list (at $259) and don't expect to see it anytime this year. I went with the MSI 4870 as a temporary measure. You can pick up the 4870 for $145 at Tiger...

    Gigabyte P55-UDR3 ----DOA

Update time. The replacement P55-UD3R came in Thursday and I had a chance to put it all together Friday afternoon. It's all good.:D I in the process of getting used to Win7 and switching all of my stuff over to the new build. Now I have to check to make sure that ZZF credited my...
