ATI Radeon 4770 or Geforce GTS 250

4770 is more versatile, overclocks better, and nets better gain from overclocking. on top of that it runs cooler and uses less power.....

when you crossfire the 4770 its pretty killer as well.

you should go for the 250; its a bit faster @ stock, way cheaper with that MIR, and has 1gb ram as opposed to the 4770s 512mb

flip a coin. or what exactly are you wanting to do? in HTPC mod the 4770 is better, but not so much otherwise. if your just gaming and don't have other considerations then the GTS250 (its a fucking 9800GTX Nvidia, get a life and quite confusing things) would probably suit you better. for that matter a 4850 can be had for the same price as the 4770 by XFX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150337 that would be better at gaming. or better yet for another 25 bucks you can go with the 5750 and get the best of both views.

more info on what your trying to do would help here.

Save your money and grab a 4890 or 5850. It will be worth it.

To who mentioned the 5750, i wouldnt even consider purchasing one at the price its at considering you can pick up a 4870 that is slightly faster for cheaper.

If you can find a 5850, go for it. I'm on the Amazon waiting list (at $259) and don't expect to see it anytime this year. I went with the MSI 4870 as a temporary measure.

You can pick up the 4870 for $145 at Tiger. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4938743&CatId=3669

that is unless you don't want the lower power draw and heat dissipation of 40nm

this, as I stated the best of both views (HTPC/midrange gaming). it might well be worth the $ for that kind of rig. the 4870 for 145 is the best deal posted here for gaming though.

OP needs to give more details.

from being the owner of a 4870x2 4770 and a 5870 I would say without a doubt the 4770 , its performance and overclocking or unbelievable , when I use in my budget system prettymuch all is high with 2 x aa and 16 af at 1680 x 1050 , plays left 4 dead like a charm :D
