I third the Silent Boost. The thing cools as good as the Zalman I had, but it is quieter. And, when I did OC, it kept temps cool. I'm too much of wuss so I backed of the OC. But, my rig is still fast and quiet (Barton XP2500).
I have the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe. And, yes I can lock the AGP. But, I can't lock the PCI or IDE. I decided to just back it down back to a vanilla 2800XP. If all did was game (now that would be sweet job), I would keep it as is. But, I can't afford for an integer miscalulation from an Excel...
Dude,
That is INSANE. I love it! I wouldn't try it w/ a my primary rig though. I too would worry about the condensation. But if you do it, make sure you post some pics!
I am currently OC' my Athlon XP 2800 to (12.5 x 178) 2.2 Gz (XP3200 yipee). I have not needed to increase voltage. I did try running at 180 FSDB, but within a minute Prime95 had errors. But, when I backed down to 178, ran Prime for 24hrs, no problems. And, temps are 44 to 45 C at full...
I just recently moved from OC GF 4 ti 4200 to and ATI 9600XT and I saw a huge difference. Frame rates were typically better on Direct X 8 games I play, but by able to use AA and FAA, the quality of pictures and video was substantial. And, you are upgrading to a faster card than mine. You will...
If I were you, I wouldn't sweat it if your system plays all the games you want and works w/ all of you other puter needs. Everything in your system is average except for your processor, mobo, and vid card. This things rock on your system. Like everyone said, you are slowing your system down...
Yes and No. If your system bus is faster i.e. memory bandwidth and faster memory ex. moving from KT266 w/ PC2100 RAM to nforce2 w/ PC2700 or PC3500 RAM w/ AThlon XP FSB 333, then absolutely. But, if your FSB and system nabdwidth is the same, very little diff.
I have the same mobo that you have w/ XP2800. I also just purchased the 9600XT ATi and had probs. But, mine seemed different. And, now they are fixed:)
Several things you definitely need to do. Upgrade that BIOS! I have 1007 (latest). Second, make sure your primary display in mobo says...
Hi All,
Thanks for all of your replies. Finally broke down and called ATI tech support. Acutally, the guy I talked to new what the heck he was talking about. Explained, problem to him and the solutions I tried. This is what he had me do:
1) reset AGP voltage back to 1.5 V
2) In the...
No,
But I was seriously thinking about doing a Format of HD and do a fresh install of XP Only thing is is that it is a takes so much time to laod all the programs I have, lol. And, Everything is up to date with chipset, and hardware driver updates.
This weekend, I got the ATI 9600XT and wrote that it was stable. well, after game some serious game play, it started freezing up. And, I have not OC's it yet. I upped the voltage to 1.7 V, and it helped a little. But, it started to lock again
Then, I diabled AGP 8X and gonna try...
Just got my ATI 9600XT. I have always OC my vid card and that trend will continue. However, up to now, all I have used are Nvidia (except for the glory days of Glide and Voodoo). So, what shoudl I expect to OC' this bad boy? And, what program do you guys use. Up to know, I have used...
I just got my ATI 9600XT today. Came from OC' PNY Farce4 Ti 4200. Hands down, ATI freakin rules! Played all games w/ everything turned up 1280 x1024. Stable. Now, I am going to OC' this mofo :)
