When will I see..... MSRP?

MSRP? Good luck. You will see it when there's enough product in the channel to saturate the market. Which is, intentionally, being prevented from happening.

Look to Intel for MSRP, they are releasing product at their stated values. Problem is their CPUs are trash and their GPUs are low to mid range.
Intel's new B580 hasn't been anywhere close to $250, since maybe a couple of days after release. You are lucky to find it for only a $50 markup.

It hasn't been that bad. I've kind of been keeping an eye on them, and B580s were occasionally available for $259 or $269 in January. Newegg's stash of ONIX B580s at $259 and $269 lasted several days. I haven't seen one that wasn't way overpriced in a while though. Chinese New Year maybe?

The B570 seems to be generally available for $10 over MSRP, so $229, and has been since launch. Newegg, Amazon and my local Microcenter all have $229 B570s in stock. B&H wants $235.

Stock and prices are stabilizing for the 5080 here in the UK with several resellers now selling AIB models close to MSRP/RRP. Funny, as just a day earlier people were buying the same model for £200-300 more -- they paid for their impatience.

Another week or two, and the 5080 will bottom out. Hardly anyone wants it, and rightfully so.

5090s are still no where to be seen, although there was a big drop of FEs on Thursday (most of which now showing up on the Bay for thousands more)

Looks like 5090 supply is likely to get better in a few weeks. I saw something around launch that AIBs hardly got any GB202s and, well, we know what the 5090 launch looked like. Now the chips are apparently flowing to AIBs and Chinese New Year is over. Looks like this is the usual launch setup trying to stir up a frenzy. I won't be a bit surprised if there are big drops around March 6th - RX 9070XT launch day.

I just amazes me that people paid 6k scalper prices for a GPU that will (eventually) be relatively easier to get. These are the same people that cry foul when then lose their entire savings on a meme coin pump and dump. What is worse is I bet that put it on credit....

These people have plenty of expendable income. They're not worried. The reason these prices happen is because it's the price the market will bear for scalping. It's never going to go away as long as stock remains low for these cards.

The way they say retailer are doing their parts by pushing more business by selling complete computer with the gpu instead of alone as if it was not a pure move to make more business because they cared a lot about scalper... (they do care a little bit, non scalper have more chance to buy something else from you one day or during purchase than scalper obviously, but that's quite the self-interested move)

And it could be a business expense for who timing is important, a lot of reviewers out there, many of them with no card to review for examples

Impatience. It would be nice to see the 5090 available as this will help the video card market.

Disappointed to see MC jacking those prices but fools are buying them like they're mining gold!

The prices will come down IF the market gets flooded with them.
Do I see the market getting flooded with them? NO

When will I see..... MSRP?

Answer: right before the next generation of GPU's are released

I'll change the question: When will we see Nvidia GPUs at MSRP and without issues?

I was planning to get the 5090 for my next build, but with the current situation (prices, availability, issues) I don't think I will be able to get it. Maybe only right before the next generation is released like some of you said here, which defeats the purpose of having top of the line card.

Strangely I think towards the end of the year, when Nvidia launches digits and their APu line up with up to 128gb vram for a price similar to the 5090 the AI demand for this card will drop. Same with Strix Halo and the lower end cards. I don’t see Nvidia sitting out the market while AMD sells volumes while being profitable so maybe we will see volume at that point which would help with pricing.

Well, I'm on the road for a couple more days of a 2-3 week trip and as I suspected absolutely nothing has changed. No cards.

The question right now is not even when will we see MSRP but when will we see cards for purchase at will? THEN we can start shopping for MSRP.

Nothing seems to be letting up on availability and the AMD launch isn't going to do anything but disappear in 5 seconds either.

Talk of volume on NVIDIA side was second half of march I think, that were non msrp but purchasable for the less popular skus (the above MSRP) could come up.

Capacity of both option are quite different too.

Will have to see what the memory will look like on the digits, chance are good it will just above AMD-Apple competition if not 256 gb/s like AMD.

A 5090 has around 1.8 tb/s, a 5090 will have ~7 time more tokens per second than the digits if its inference is strong enough and memory is the bottleneck (and has more than 3 times the inference power to make it happen).

Smallish models are doing more and more, for example:
https://huggingface.co/Wan-AI

Alibama just released a really strong 1.3 billion to 14billion parameter text to video generator, the 5s video on the 1.3b fit on 8GB videocard, you could probably do good length one with a 5090, demand for a faster GPU could stay and both could co-exist.

Now that we’re a few days in, I get the feeling that prices won’t get as crazy as 2020-21, and will gradually come down to Earth over the next 3-6 months.* A lot of people who wanted a 9070 series card were able to get one, and the ones who paid over MSRP didn’t seem to pay anything crazy. $730 Hellhounds, Gigabyte Gaming OCs, etc. seemed to be available long enough for a regular person to snag one if they were quick enough on the trigger or went to Microcenter. Restocks seem to be happening in good numbers, and the few 7800 XT’s still in inventory only spiked to ~$550-600 new.**

There was a lot of pent-up demand from years of overpriced cards on the market that went out of production with miniscule Blackwell supply to replace them. It will take quite a while to clear that pent-up demand, but afterwards, I actually do think AMD’s current rate of production can satisfy the ongoing demand. Some people won’t touch AMD at any price, and others aren’t willing to pay this gen’s prices in general, but most gamers seem like they would rather play the F5 game over the coming weeks and months than pay some crazy price for last-gen hardware, and so the 7900 and 4080 cards are only overvalued by a few hundred bucks.

We’ll see what happens, but I think this is going to be pretty mild compared to the pandemic GPU craze. Maybe more like the 2017-18 crypto boom.

*At least on the AMD side.
**Well, there were ones listed for a lot more, but I doubt anyone bought them.

I'm over everyone whining and whining about the price of GPUs right now, the whole behavior is driven by a huge sense of entitlement and conditioned false belief that what was once true, must remain true for eternity.

* it was once true that a high end card could be bought for a reasonable price, therefore i will whine to the end of time if that past fact does not remain true for eternity (and screw the fact that a "high end card" 10 years ago had a tiny fraction of the performance of today's high end cards and was far cheaper to manufacture)

* it was once true that each new generation of cards had a huge uplift in performance over the previous generation, therefore i will whine to the end of time if that past fact does not remain true for eternity. despite the fact that modern chip manufacturing techniques are starting to hit the limits of physics at the exact same time that adding yet more cuda cores is starting to reach the point of diminishing returns.

a lot of the self-entitled whining is driven by youtubers who garner views by moaning about the fact that (surprise surprise!) what was true yesterday is no longer true, but it seems that for some people, the hobby of moaning about the changing GPU market has eclipsed their hobby of gaming as their main recreational activity!

if you want a gpu and someone is selling it - buy it.

if it is too expensive for you - don't buy it.

if nobody is selling it, then accept you can't have it, or perhaps start your own GPU company and do better than the people you're complaining about.
