Scorn

They announced the release date in December, but at least the content in the trailer is new.

they announced the release month back in December...yesterday's trailer announced the actual date (alongside new gameplay footage)

As an absurd artist myself, I love the HR Giger inspired world brought to life in 3D. I'm really hoping this is at least enjoyable on a first-playthrough. I would hate for this game to suck, with all the love and care put into the artwork.

I've been waiting for this as well. The art style is my style

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it comes out a month from today.

That said, $40 for a brand new game seems like a good deal to me, I might actually pre-order.
It's also launching day 1 on PC Game Pass, if you are already subscribed.

I feel more confident about this going with a try before you buy PC Game Pass playthrough versus any pre-order...too high a risk that it might suck or be very average...plus it sounds really short...

Dammit - I don't back things on kickstarter, hopefully it's released for the rest of us plebs soon. Otherwise I'll just wait for the game.
Have not heard anything about them making the prologue available to everybody, but anything can change in the one month left until full release.

I saw several early reviews yesterday, but saw that it wasn't due on Gamepass for a month. I'm assuming they got early KS copies or they were only for the prologue.

Yeah- the game is supposed to be out in a month, so not long. Never did look at it yesterday, stupid adult life.

Scorn seemingly supports DirectStorage, beating Forspoken to be the first game on the market to do so.

I love the HR Giger inspiration for this game. Definitely been looking forward to this for a very long time. It'd be cool if they released a Collector's Edition physical release with like a art book or something because the environments and art direction is intoxicating and just my thing.

The Prologue should be out today. Yep- kickstarter people should have a code for it in their email.

is this different to the 8-minute prologue that was released yesterday on the game's official YouTube page?

Yeah, I would consider buying a physical artbook but digital with the Deluxe edition is kinda meh.

Probably not, other than game vs video. I played for a while last night and am loving the look / atmosphere of it. It's probably something that's speed-runnable in a very short time, but no spoilers and I'm just poking around and solving cold and it's not fast. I have no idea how far I am (I'm in a big chamber with a spiral tower and a second floor 25 meters up). I feel like I'm close to opening the big door to leave the area (just killed some poor sod and have an extra arm).

I finished the Prologue, and it's a quick chapter. You could probably speedrun it in ten minutes or less. Still, ATMOSPHERE!!1! And it's got that excellent creepy freaky uncertainty of spooky maps with excellent sound, helped by no UI to really push the immersion.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the DirectStorage benchmarks- Windows 10 vs Windows 11, PCIe 4.0 vs 3.0 etc

I can't wait to see the load speeds. Running Win11 and SK hynix P41 2TB gen4. Also can't wait to see this game at 4k on my 3090. I have Gamepass soooo hell yeah.

great atmosphere which reminds me of the Alien movies but there sure was a lot of walking around and opening doors...will there be a lot of combat in this or it mostly puzzle solving?...reminds me of the Amnesia: Dark Descent games where the focus was on the atmosphere

As I understand it, some combat (I have seen weapons trailers and some shooting), but ammo is scarce and there are things that may not be killable.

Looks like a Toliet I'm all for Gross stuff I'm sure they spent hours making the game but this just looks Gross.

Just got my code, and the wife leaves in the morning to take care of her family for a few weeks... Hell yeah!

I'll be playing this on PC Game Pass...I'm hearing rumors of performance issues at launch plus I'm not sure about the gameplay so I'm not taking a chance with a purchase...the atmosphere and setting look great but based on the previews the gameplay looks like a lot of walking around pushing buttons and solving puzzles

Honestly, even if it's just a walking simulator, I won't mind. I enjoy appreciating games like this with such good organic looking art/modeling/design. The gameplay is almost secondary. It's like appreciating some art.

Yeah, at least they're trying something different.

this being the first PC game with DirectStorage support is also a huge milestone...will be interesting seeing benchmark numbers using different SSD's (PCIe 4.0 vs 3.0) and also Windows 11 vs Windows 10 performance

Can't say I'm surprised, it's UE4. I was wondering how they would have that shoehorned into the last engine. Still- it loaded fast enough on my system.

*looks like the reviews were taken down because they broke embargo*

early reviews have dropped and opinions are mixed...

Scorn review

Scorn is an incredibly evocative work of art and the things it evokes are so unpleasant I had to ration it out in hour-long sessions throughout a week of play...a revulsive but rewarding nightmare...

Scorn review: stranger in a strange land

Scorn brings together a beautiful world and alluring mystery with some confusing design choices that really hinder how much fun it actually is. Scorn may well be one of a kind, but you have to wonder if the title is derived from the contempt they feel towards the people actually trying to play it

despite this beautiful world and the mystery it offers, actually playing Scorn just isn’t a good time, and that makes it hard to recommend, no matter how unique the offering is here...

At least it's a Gamepass title. If it sucks, I'll just uninstall it without remorse.
