I mostly agree. I think I paid $15 back in the kickstarted, and have enjoyed the ride. The devs seem to care about what they've made and are proud, I hope I like it also. But I will also keep backing interesting (weird) stuff like this or Titans of Industry just because it's cool they exist even if I end up not loving the game.

18.00 on CD Keys will pick it up pending on reviews guess it's really slow paced.

It's free on Game Pass :p

Just gave it a quick play, will do screenshots/clips later but so far it runs superbly, the GFX settings only go up to "High" and there's no HDR or RT options to enable either, pretty minimalistic.

It barely even breathes on the CPU, and the GPU is hardly in need of a workout it seems.

It looks very atmospheric though, was able to set the framerate locked to 120fps without issue, hell 144 worked fine too but I'm keeping it below the refresh rate and gives the GPU room to run quieter.

Motion blur is annoying so be sure to turn that off too, otherwise the game runs very nicely, no issues to note so far. You have zero on screen map or tips etc, gotta figure everything out which is interesting.

I'm playing at 3440x1440 for reference, 12700KF, 3080 Ti FE.

I won't get to try it until tonight, sounds like it's fairly hit or miss with people though.

I think I might get a refund on Steam and try it on Game Pass first.

Game is amazing, from my perspective. Reminds me of Frictional Games style game in some ways. If you like Amnesia, Soma, Etc you'll love this game. This game takes it to the next level though. The visuals/graphics are just jaw dropping in some areas, and while I don't get scared by games, this is the first game in quite a while that just gives me the creeps.

Dang. That's quite the endorsement. I enjoyed all of those games, and love to be legit scared/creeped out by a game.

I played a bit earlier and wholeheartedly agree. It's very creepy, the ambient sounds are excellent. Very little UI, and I have only solved a couple of puzzles so far (the flesh flower bulb room where you the your key and inventory), but can't wait to play tonight.

Purchased. :)

looking at some reviews the main draw of this game is the art design and the fact that it's different to most games...but the gameplay itself sounds questionable...combat is poor, level design is confusing, extremely limited enemy types, checkpoint system is bad...plus the game is 6 hours max...sounds like PC Game Pass is the best way to go unless you really love the H.R. Giger/Zdzislaw Beksinski style

I got it on Gamepass so easy to give it a try. About to do some shots and dabs and play this crazy shit.

Weird. This ran like shit on launch with my 5900x and 3090. I disabled Razer Cortex cuz it got enabled somehow. Reboot and it's a solid 60fps at 4K. I even tried to switch to 120hz 4K for shits and giggles but it still stayed locked at 60. No HDR and no Atmos. Can't complain cuz Gamepass lol.

Just watched YT's Berdo Benjo's play through and I was quite captivated. Someone in the chat described it as a "Moist meat sim" Lol!
It starts slow then ramps.
He mentioned a VR mod in the works. That would be fantastic.

I played this a bit, it's slow as heck but creepy and unnerving. At some points I started to get a bit frustrated, the maps look pretty samey in places and it makes it hard to know where you've been or where you need to go. One time I wandered around the same loop like 5 times before finally getting close enough to a random platform that it popped up suddenly, scared the shit out of me.

That is by design.

You might wanna check out Golden Light if you want more meatiness. VERY strange and intriguing game, and different from anything else I've ever played. I ended up picking it up via a Humble Bundle and it's chock full of weird meaty weirdness.

Thanks, played last night and wondered because 👇

I did the same thing.

Thanks, good to know. I didn't get very far last night, but the world is intriguing for sure. Eager to keep playing and try to figure this thing out without resorting to YT vids or spoilers..

If you're playing this game for the combat, you might as well not bother. It's not what it's about.

Yeah, I agree that combat is both bad and also not important. I almost with they just got rid of most of it. But overall; Amazing game, had me on the edge of my seat constantly. Some of the puzzles were very difficult, others fairly easy. But this game is dripping with style and atmosphere. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll stop there.

Yeah, but sometimes you're forced into it so...meh.

I am still enjoying it overall but realistically the combat wasn't necessary, or needs to be better.

I took a lot of screenshots but I opted not to post them. The game is a masterpiece visually and audio. I will likely play it again very soon so I can better digest what the hell happened story wise, and just to look at some stuff again. I played on game pass but purchased for full price to support the devs.

There is a lot of subtle detail and complexity in the audio of this game as well. If you stand around in certain areas for a while you notice some weird creepy details that vary and fit the specific visual details of an area perfectly.

I have mixed feelings about the game. I like the look and the vibe, although I do get the UE4 hitches when going into a new area which is a bit annoying. Gameplay is okay, but it's not really my thing. Not their fault and it's not a bad thing, it's just not really my jam. The UI and presentation scream "indie game" to the max, too. I'll probably end up completing it once just to see everything and I'll never touch it again.

I am really digging this weird experience so far. I fully agree with the Steam reviewers who says it's best to play this with zero knowledge of it going in. I haven't encountered combat yet (just got out of the first area two nights ago and didn't get a chance to play again last night) but I can appreciate the "no hand-holding, figure it out" approach.

The way this game unfolds is just very strange and creative, IMO.

I realize I'm not too deep in yet but based on my experience so far, I'd be interested to see the next couple of games this studio puts out based on their experience and lessons learned here.

Absolutely LOVED SOMA, so I'm going to grab this on that comment alone. (whether or not it's exactly similar) ;) Thanks! Fan of Giger, and think this would be a good thing to play. Played Dark Seed in the 90s, and while the art was compelling, the game made me want to throw and hit things. :D

I made it to the first (maybe only?) "boss" encounter. The checkpointing system kinda sucks so you can end up losing a bunch of progress depending on where the game decides to save.

I'll make it through but I doubt I'll ever touch it again. If I want to "experience" it again I'll just watch a let's play.

You mean the
gremlin you put in the 'armor'? /spoiler] That fight was rough! Especially because I wanted to figure it out for myself. After about 8 times fighting what seemed like 10-15 minutes each I had to look for some pointers.

Spoiler much????

Learn how to use spoiler tags please.
TBH it's not much of a spoiler, the whole thing is telegraphed about 15 miles away beforehand.

Yeah - I got to the final "phase" and got frustrated, so I looked up what you have to do. Based on that I probably would have been even more frustrated because it's not very intuitive and involves pretty big risk. Plus, sadly you can't save mid-fight so you have to do the whole thing over again if you die or run out of ammo or something.
