Xbox game pass PC

Back 4 Blood comes out on the 10th/11th. That's a game I was going to pay retail price for, so it covers the cost of my Game Pass subscription for 6 months right there.

I let mine lapse, I'll probably pick it up again next time they do a deal. Managed to get Psychonauts 2 finished before it expired.

I always sign up for a few months, let it expire and sign up again after awhile...I don't feel the need to stay subscribed year round...plus I'm not getting it free anymore or for the earlier $5.99 price so it makes me more picky

Destiny 2 arrives on Xbox Game Pass for PC on October 12th

While the looter shooter has been available on the Xbox console side of Xbox Game Pass for more than a year, PC players have been patiently waiting for it to be included on Xbox Game Pass for PC...Microsoft is now bundling Destiny 2: Beyond Light on Xbox Game Pass for PC on October 12th...Witch Queen, Destiny 2’s next big expansion, won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch

At this point Destiny 2 has oodles and oodles of content. If anyone hasn't played it, you can get lost for months playing it. That doesn't even count the upcoming DLC.

How is it compared to Outriders? I LIKED playing Outriders with my buddy but the bullet sponginess of some enemies and bosses was just kind of annoying. Also is Beyond Light a good starting point considering all the content out there?

It blows Outriders out of the water. Outriders is a cheap third-person diablo clone. Destiny is a first person diablo clone with space-magic!

In all seriousness, Destiny 2 is a lot of fun. I was disappointed with it at launch and stopped playing pretty much right away. I just picked all the expansions up for half off a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it. There really is an crazy amount of content. If you enjoy the gameplay you won't get bored. It's free to play just to test the mechanics for yourself, nothing to lose.

Never played Outriders, but Destiny 2 is part FPS, part RPG, and part loot grinder. It's been around for 4 years (it feels longer, though) and has amassed tons and tons of content during that time. It was pretty decent sized out of the gate, but it's MMO-level big now. The key is that it's also good content. The game is fun and there are so many secrets and hidden thing to do that it'll keep you occupied for months if not years.

Well they did put a ton of the content away due to it beeing to much work to maintain it all, but they intend to rotate it in and out. Haven't played much recently so not sure how that is going.

I am interested in giving Destiny 2 a try again - I have it, but I never really got into it. Is it possible to start now and do the old content in order, see all the old story stuff? I have pretty much every season pass up through the current one etc.

I have to admit that GamePass is looking nice, but until they integrate with Steam (which would be very easy - you'd get the Steam version of any GamePass attributed game, ideally shown in a different color to show you only "own" it as part of a sub etc.) I can't bring myself to pay for something that requires yet another proprietary store/launcher/application. Valve is clearly open to the idea as EA Play subscriptions are viable on Steam instead of just Origin, MS has seen the success of their stand alone titles like Sea of Thieves and Halo MCC on Steam, so I can't understand why they continue to drag their feet - its a rare win-win for everyone. Steam gets a percentage of subscriptions that sign up through them and more users on its platform, MS gets the huge Steam audience and money from those like me who do not wish to use their Xbox app and prefer Steam instead, Players get good assortment of games for what seems to be a reasonable price, developers/publishers get more sales as related to GamePass etc. Ah well, guess I'll have to keep waiting.

Integrating with Steam (or Epic, or uPlay, or literally any other store) would be a godsend for Game Pass. EA games aren't locked in idiotic UWP container folders, so you can edit INI files, run the DX11 executables, mod them, etc. Basically, Game Pass doesn't have to be as bad as it is and the EA portion of it illustrates that. I just hope they can pull some other partners in someday.

No. They "vaulted" all the content that originally came out with the game, so it is impossible to experience the story anymore. They are about to vault even more content now that the new expansion is about to come out. I quit playing the game the day they decided to start removing content. I don't think I'll ever buy a Bungie game again due to that nonsense.

Yeah, I never really played much Destiny 2 but after hearing about this, I doubt I will ever touch it again.

Spent about 3 hours with the Gamepass version so far and really like it and already like the way it plays more than Outriders. I mean I have no idea what I am doing but love the quests and the pop up events. I was on my won quest and this event started and I figured I was too low since I just started but stood back and was sniping and actually playing a significant role in the event. There is so much much going on and then all the cosmodromes...lol...like I said I am a total newb and have no idea what's what but I love the game play so far. The loot drops/rewards are enticing enough to want you to keep trying new guns/armor.

Wait...what? I thought there was supposed to be some person you spoke to in the main "hub" that would let you see content from every era of the game or whatever? Maybe that was before the "vaulting"?

I was able to let my subscription at full price run out, and subscribe again with this deal. So it's not new customers only.

anyone know when the 3 months for $1 promo runs out?...I'm going away for a week for Christmas and would rather re-subscribe when I get back

Middle of February, if I remember correctly. You can check by going to Plans in the Xbox app. If you click Join it should show you when it expires.

thanks...it shows the offer being good for 25 more days...so I'll re-sub at the end of December for $1

Guardians of the Galaxy is being added to PC Game Pass on March 10. The Xbox app was also updated today to allow you to install games to a folder of your choice, manage and repair existing installations, and mod more games. You can move currently installed games to a different folder in a similar way that Steam allows.

Those are 2 bits of fantastic news! Was thinking of giving GOTG a shot, so this makes that a no-brainer.

So the folder option does work for some games but not all, wonder if they will update them in future to support this for all games.

I wonder if all first-party titles are still forced into the standard app folder. Maybe it's baked into them and it will change with future releases.
It seems to be mixed bag, Halo master chief collection and forza 5, both could install to any folder. But forza 4 and some others i could not. Also for the ones that install to any folder, i have complete access to add/delete anything. So this is huge improvement, at least for the games that are updated to allow this.

They're probably rolling out updates to games individually. Apparently they ninja'd this functionality out to the Xbox app a week ago and it's only just now getting attention.

I haven't been subbed to Game Pass PC for a few months but I recently signed up again...I'm pleasantly surprised at how much better the installation process is now...previously downloads would get interrupted multiple times and I would have to re-start it but now games install without any issues and it seems faster as well...plus they offer the option to install certain games to a secondary drive

hopefully the uninstall option works properly now where all the game files are removed

Microsoft is moving ahead with an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan

Paying on a higher tier for an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan will net access for five players for games across the entire library, and will be far cheaper than paying for five separate XGP accounts as is necessary today...utilizing Microsoft's Family Account system already in use for Office 365, players within the same country will be able to play together using a single XGP subscription managed by a central account holder, in much the same way as Netflix...

I was looking forward to playing 'The Medium' on Game Pass PC (I hear the ray-tracing is excellent) but it left the service in February :(

Doh! Yeah, that's the major downside to gamepass... It's cheaper if you catch the games in time, but they aren't there forever.

Microsoft has confirmed that the company is working with publisher Ubisoft to bring Assassin's Creed Origins to the service sometime in the next two months
