Xbox game pass PC

Cheaper to just buy a few games a year outright than pay for this.

I guess if you don't have an Xbox or decent PC, it might be worth it for cloud gaming. Though I would expect zero "wait times" if I was paying $30/month.
 
so Ultimate and Premium give you the same games?...the only difference being no Day 1 Xbox/PC games, EA Play and Ubisoft+ with Premium?...$15 a month still isn't bad (Premium)...$30 for Ultimate is a bit steep

although the Day 1 games was the main benefit of subbing to Game Pass PC

even $30 isn't the worst thing if you only sub to Game Pass infrequently when a certain game you want to play is released...if the retail price is $60- $70, you're still paying 50%+ less to sub for a month and then cancel...if multiple games are released in the same month the savings is even more
 
Microsoft should have priced the Ultimate tier at $25...that way they get a decent price increase and gamers wouldn't feel as outraged

$30 for a rental is just way too much. If there are other games you want to play great, but $30 for 1 game? That is a bad deal.

It was only a matter of time, all these fucking subscription services pull the same bullshit - they think they can raise prices forever to keep shareholders happy and have a delusional belief consumers will keep lumping it for the convenience. I am whisker away from cancelling my Netflix subscription given most of the slop on there is of no interest to me. Amazon Prime is lucky that the collective benefits of free shipping, free kindle books, free music and free ad supported videos still outweighs the cost.
 
I'm tired of every subscription jacking up prices, and nearly everything now requiring subscriptions.

So they're getting rid of the PC only tier? Wow, way to fail to read the room. You're going to lose all those subscribers, Microsoft. We're not going to pay an extra $5 a month when people don't even own a console.

Never mind. The PC tier is still there, it just costs as much as Premium now.

I was subscribed to Ultimate since I played console almost just as much, but I canceled today. The value proposition no longer lines up with what it costs. Surprised there wasn't any BS to jump through. It pretty much was one click to cancel.

I said that $30 is a bit steep and $25 would have been the better price point but some people don't want anything to ever go up in price for their entire existence...that's just not reasonable...everything eventually goes up in price- smartphones, TV's, computer hardware, pencils, sofas, meat, fish, internet, Ubisoft+, Game Pass, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc etc...I wish I was paying the same prices as in 1990 but that's just not reasonable
 
here in NYC they are raising the price to ride the subway/bus from $2.90 to $3 in January 2026...certain people are in an uproar...it's ridiculous...it's $.10 freakin cents...$3 is still an amazing value for the amount of coverage you get from the NYC public transportation system...people are just whiners and will find any excuse to whine...

The value kind of erodes at the current prices. You can buy a handful of full priced games and keep them forever. Most games on Game Pass are Microsoft and most people have likely played those already. The others rotate out. The ~$30 for a single rental isn't really a good enough savings (going off the console prices). Or $360 a year is still not a good value.

That was always the intention, to kill off paid games and replace them with subscriptions. Microsoft just didn't wait long enough/the economics of it just didn't work out yet.

I'm not saying it's a good value...I never stayed subscribed even before the price increase (not just Game Pass but also things like Netflix, Apple TV+ etc...I subscribe when I want to watch something and then cancel after a month or so)...the value was never there for me even when the price was cheap...if I'm not using the service then any price is too much...now it's even worse after the price increase...but my point is prices were always going to go up...but it's still cheaper then buying most AAA games at full price...$30 is still better then $70
 
It is a good value if all you do is play video game and don't give a shit if 95% of those 75 games are garbage. I buy about 5-10 games a year and majority of them are not on game pass so it is a useless to me if I didn't care about all the other issues with game pass.

It did for all the first-party games. Third-party depended on the publisher/developer. Oh, and they didn't mention it, but you can no longer get Game Pass with Microsoft Rewards.

My guess is they think Call of Duty is the primary draw of Game Pass now. It's not the juggernaut it was a decade ago.
 
This new price point means its back to the high seas for me for their games I want to tey and massive sales for others. I was happy with the price vs offerings before, but this increase just kills it for me.

Whats funnier is im sure COD is supposed to be their big draw point to justify the price but the new BF6 beta gives me 0 interest in the new cod even if I could get it at a discount. I've been loving gamepass ultimate for my PC and xbox but it certainly isn't a requirement lol.
 
There is a cap to how many rewards points you can earn annually based on your subscription tier now.

Even then not sure it makes a whole lot of sense. Most CoD players just buy the annual release at full price. Unless they think CoD only gamers are going to spend $200+ a year on what they typically spend $70 on, I'm not sure how that makes any sense. Even if they're campaign only players, why sell a month for $20-30 when they reliably buy it for $70?
 
Seems this will be about either 10-12 bucks for PC game pass in my region. I can dig that for a while until they jack it up here.
