Elden Ring (From Software RPG)

Here's me from a an hour ago:

I don't know, but I don't see anything that would bother me about the performance.
Seems that those 800 000 people are too busy playing the game to come and discuss the game content here. Like how I just discovered, when you get killed and collect your runes back, you don' t actually get all of them back. Seems you only get around 75% of them back.

I had to buy the DS3 Season Pass just to soothe the itch till this all gets patched up :(

Did they release a fix for ultrawide support? I mean official release, not the flawless widescreen users fixed.
Given FromSoft never officially supported alternative aspect ratios beyond 16:9 in ANY of their previous titles, it's a safe bet Elden Ring won't get official support. We (PC users) have always relied on 3rd party to get around that.

The real question is will Easy Anti-Cheat be flagging that? I hope not. I'm fairly certain FromSoft didn't care about us hacking UltraWide into DS3. But now they've introduced a 3rd party anti-cheat tool to do their dirty work...

i really don't know how many times i can explain that it's YOUR perception of the SAME thing that differs from mine (and others as by now it should be more than obvious.)

and nobody is saying "everybody must hereby stop enjoying the game, and completely disregard From Software's game design and Elden Ring's sales successes!" obviously the game itself is great, obviously it sold a lot and many many people are enjoying it.

is it really just *that* hard to accept that the PC port is simply not in a technically acceptable state for many people?

i really can't wrap my head around why people can't let go of the "runs fine on my pc" shitposting. there is NOTHING that you guys gain by trying to convince someone else that actually it's fine and you have nothing to complain about. if From fixes this it only *benefits* everyone.

Because the urge to slob FromSoft's knob is strong, it would seem.

lol. i'm sure there are some who do have an insatiable desire to do that. but i think for most it's hard if not impossible to understand that what they see as minor inconvenience can be so frustrating for others.

it's kinda like that "stop liking what i don't like!!" meme but it's "why don't you like what i like!!"

Man I'm so glad I refuse to spend the money on a graphics card 3070 or higher they are asking for these days. Otherwise I'd be bitching about this game instead of loving every second on PS5 haha.

For what it's worth it's not completely smooth on PS5 either. Forbidden West in performance mode isn't either. That's why you don't buy games at launch if it's that big a deal. The internet is fucking stupid.

Kinda agree about not playing at release. Just seems the norm these days to have stuff shipped too early. I personally don't mind delays if they would put out releases that don't need big day 0 patches to fix stuff.

I ran straight past the first boss by the knights, is that okay? Does he drop anything meaningful?

You have to be more specific. First 'great boss' a player will normally encounter is margit, although he can be avoided. I would advise against avoiding Margit. Particularly because if you explore around the lands to the east a bit more there is an item that essentially makes 50% of his HP gone with little effort.

Great bosses all drop something that is highly useful to your survival.

I ran past that guy too.

My first boss was a weird statue in some catacombs. Margit was my second. I haven’t found a third yet.

I'm glad these guys are such a pain in the ass even for magic builds.

the game is a massive hit just judging by the number of people in this thread...normally FromSoft game threads are only populated by me and a few other hard core Souls vets...but now it seems most [H] members have jumped onboard the From train...welcome to the Shrine of the best developer, best level design, best enemy variety, armor, weapons, challenge etc...FromSoft games are a religious experience...after ER go back and play all the Dark Souls games and Sekiro on PC

preach it, brother polonyc2.

[cue heavenly choir]

Ah just hit Margit the boss - yeah this is going to take a bit. Nice that I can summon a person already to help but we're getting pwned.

huh? I just tested this and I got 100% back.
I don''t know, maybe it's my character build? Or something I'm wearing? I'm definitely getting back only around 75% of runes back. Really paid attention to the numbers last few times I died, and it's always like that.

Bigger problem I'm having is with summons. I got to Gadrick, and I can't summon anyone for the life of me. I see tons of signs, but they all end up the same, "unable to summon cooperator". On the other hand, If I put a sign down, I get summoned in seconds.

Got a 5600X and EVGA 3090 at 4K maxed (no motion blur) and there's some stuttering and slow down but nothing as bad as that video some pages back. It's not unplayable yet but needs improvement for sure. Outside performance I'm barely into it, 5 hours or so just screwing around after you get the horse and learning the new mechanics. It's DS but the stats seem to be more generous, fast travel and leveling up is quicker/easier, and escaping NOPE WTF situations are easier to get out of. I got a friend who likes Soulsborne games but can't get past the difficulty, I can see him digging this more than previous titles. Come on and fix the performance shit FromSoft lol... :D

Came across a caravan of undead things, a few knights, and two giant things pulling a carriage like thing. Neato! Feels like fucked up old school hell paintings. :woot:

i mean you don't really need to bother at this point, but if you are going to go through the effort at all, you really need the RTSS frame time graph or you're not showing anything.
How do I get that graph to show in the on screen display?

I set the settings to supposedly show every kind of frame data for the on screen display. But when I actually play, it just shows FPS and the regular (average) frametime in milliseconds.

I'm glad you found the summon! I wasted an hour on that boss before figuring out there was a summon sign nearby. It also really helps using your summoning bell as well.

My first 5 hours with this game was a complete trip. Once getting out of the starting cave, I wandered around and stumbled upon a chest. I opened the chest and was told "I've been trapped" and then I was stuck in some ore mine with slave laborers and some really wicked enemies. Once I got out of the cave, I found myself in a swamp reminiscent of the swamp in Dark Souls 3, and every enemy was handing my ass to me. I found 7-8 grace spots and the Maiden never appeared for me, so I was never able to level up. Even worse, I wasn't aware you could fast travel using the map, so I stayed in that crazy area for 5 hours. Admittedly, once I made it back to the main path of the game, everything started feeling pretty easy! Up until getting to Godrick, and everything is hell again. If you think Margit's a bugger...you haven't seen anything yet!

Eh, I submitted a refund request on Steam. It ran pretty decently last night. but today I tried to play and its lurching and stuttering all over the place.

I'm at 3.1 hours, hopefully they grant the refund. Will be getting the PS5 digital version and running the PS4 pro version in BC mode, for now. I will definitely miss the tall grass : \

Does anyone remember how long it took for CP77 to get a good patch? Was it 2 weeks or like 2 months? Trying to know how long to hold back my elation.

fuck, i need to start playing this, i got it like two nights ago, at 5am, after that 11 things video comixbooks posted :p that did it, it served very well as an ad, it got me lol

I just spent 5 hours attempting Margit over and over again. Even with co-op partners it's ridiculous. They always die by the second phase. Do I need a ranged weapon or something? There is no damn opening for a melee attack in that second phase.

Successfully refunded.

I must be a moron cuz I don't think I found margit yet. 266mb update on PS5 just how.

Nah. Way too many options for progression. You’ll get to it sometime.

I got teleported to a bonfire and a giant on top of a tower. It was pretty weird. I’m SL5. I have to level up some more I think, way too weak.

Actually opened the game after last post and I was right there at Margit. Didn't even realize until I looked up at the scenery and BOSS. Oh and I died. I wish bloodstains actually worked. Kind of funny that works on PC but not PS5.
