Battlefield 2042

I put a few hours in and I personally feel like the beta map is too big. Feels like I'm playing a running simulator. Can't find any enemies and just running around looking for someone to shoot. Game looks great but I didn't have any fun. I had some high expectations but left kind of disappointed.

I'm a BF veteran and have hundreds of hours on BF3, BF4 and BFV. Hopefully DICE can iron all the issues out before the release date.

Dude, call In a vehicle for yourself and or spawn at places there is action.

I spent a lot of time in choppers but when I was on foot I somewhat felt this when moving between points. I believe that's why they've made it possible to spawn in vehicles so I'd usually just spawn that tracked tank vehicle and was able to move between points much faster.

I have question. When i download BF beta in epic platform i must create some account in BF 2042 beta or not? Or maybe download from Origin? I am talking about OPEN beta.

It runs through Origin regardless of what platform you download it on. You'll likely need to login with your EA/Origin account.

The EA games on Steam simply launch Origin launcher. If you don't want to need two launchers to start the game, then purchase it on Origin.
This applies to quite a few titles from other big publishers as well, the steam version is simply a shortcut to their launcher.

Sometimes it's preferable to use the other publishers launcher instead, as you tend to get 'points' you can use for skins/dlc/sountracks etc even for other games.

How many players were there on the server? This game is supposed to support 128 players IIRC.

I think servers should shrink or grow maps due to player size. Fewer players? Smaller map. More players? Larger map. If there is a sudden surge or drop after a set time then it should reset that match. Just my two cents :)

I'm with you half way. Fully agree fewer players smaller map and the map scales up with more players. I don't agree with a match reset. If a map loads that's designed for a maximum of say 32 players, then only 32 players should join that match, additional players should be put in other lobbies or in-progress matches that haven't yet hit their player cap. It would be silly to have 20 minutes invested into a match you're winning by a small margin, only to get kicked out because an extra player came in. There's the potential of rarely ever being able to finish a match with that algorithm.

Another note - You can link your steam account to origin as well, so no need to just use origin if you prefer the steam in game browser, and platform as well.

Game is complete chaos which I love in bf games, I'm about 2 hours in and so far it's a 6/10. My biggest gripe is wtf is going on with the audio. I just got done playing games like tarkov and wz. The audio is so far off on this game ots the biggest reason why I may not buy it. Guns are not impactful, I could barely hear someone outside of a building, qnd if a vehicle is in the area, you can't hear shit other then it driving around. I think it should consider another delay

Turn on war tapes, definitely amplifies every thing.

Let us know what you think.
i feel like its still lacking a bit though, im using a SB g6x with senn 6xx and I still feel its a tad off, but its MUCH more enjoyable.
edit: downloading new SB audio stuff, apparently my version had iffyness with windows 11.

H

Holy shit the difference... why the fuck is it not like this by default
War Tapes audio has been a BF thing for as long as I can remember. I don’t recall it ever being on by default.

last bf i played seriously was bf4 when the 290's came out.

That seems odd. BF4 did helicopters great. About as good as you can get while keeping it in a multi vehicle type of game. Easy to use, didn't feel too restricted, with enough control. Hoping that is a bug or something they fixed in recent builds.
This is my biggest gripe so far is the flight model / physics being in aircraft being taken yet one step further to arcade/CoD, which I didn't think was possible. Particularly felt in the Heli's like the Scout- like there's no weight to it and it just turns and yaws instantly like gravity doesn't exist.

Flight model in BF2 was widely considered excellent, had some deep learning curves that rewarded your time, but then with each iteration BF3 -> BF4 the flight model was watered down further, and BF2042 no exception. Admittedly I'm a heli/jet whore, and I realize this isn't going to matter to most players.

Think a flight controller is unnecessary this time around? Always loved using one for BF2.

Since I can't play it with my only PC, how do the gun unlocks and accessory unlocks work? I enjoyed BF3 and BF4 unlocks but the more recent games I hated the purchase system.

Thats really my biggest gripe at the moment, is the Heli/Plane physics. Like I feel like a complete noob now trying to fly. Granted I was never amazing, but I could definitely hold my own in BF4. Now, Im lost....

Theres not much in the beta. 3(?) new weapon unlocks? No attachment unlocks in the beta. Each weapon has an attachment "tree" you can access at any time. Sights (2-3 each), Barrel attachments (2-3 each), Ammo/Mags (2-3 each), and Grips (1-2 each)

From the games you listed you aren't a BF "veteran" at all, no offense. Those are COD ripoff games with tiny maps. Orbital is about the size of smaller real Battlefield maps. The entire point is that you have battles near the flags and in between... Which is what I've been seeing on the demo.

This isn't rhetorical, why not just play Call of Duty? The newer BF games are so similar, one of the few differences is the map sizes and vehicles... Which necessitate a larger map.

I haven't even looked in the menus to see if dedicated flightsticks are supported, but I wouldn't see much of a point anyway. Even in BF3 and BF4, they were kinda unnecessary because there wasn't much depth to the flight model. The best pilots (the 1v1 beasts) were either KB/M, controller if they came over to PC from console. Might as well give it a try, but I'd find it cumbersome having to switch back and forth between stick, and KB/M when suddenly being in a situation out of the aircraft that requires fast reflexes (i.e. skyjacking an enemy jet or heli you just shot the pilot out of)

Battlefield logic - one second 9 of your team members are facing one way, you figure go opposite... boom, shot from behind, all your dudes are no where in sight 0_O

Man this afternoon, the game ran smooth as butter on ultra at 4k. This evening, every freakin game is a stuttering mess with massive FPS dropping.

I am beginning to think its the servers with the issues.

Agreed. Hopped on tonight as well and it definitely was buggy, and lag galore.

absolutely the servers

I just played most of a map driving a hummer around with a gunner and noticed there is no such thing as vehicle assists? Am I missing something? The gunner was lighting people up and I didn't see any of my totals increase which kinda sucks. It was fun though.

Why do people always look for rewards for something others do?

JK I'm just a little butthurt that I preordered this shit on July 30th but it won't let me play the beta...

Try linking your steam account to your origin. Maybe that'll do it.

They're linked.

I just asked for a refund. By the time it will take me to download the beta will be over so no pre order perks. I'll just wait for a discount. I'll just play Back 4 Blood or whatever till that happens. Guess taking a vacation to play this shit didn't work out.

The scout heli is where I’m going to live. So fun.
Helis are OP, there's nowhere to hide. Infinite rockets rain down. You would think after four that's it, nope. They keep coming until you die.

Also the Assault rifles are OP. You can't use anything else. Same power close and at distance, no bullet drop. It's a game of dominos, one person kill the other in rapid order until those that survive take the sector. There's no teamwork because of the short ttk when going against rifles, your whole team just start to drop like flies. Reviving is pointless because your death is imminent if you stop to help.
