Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk has a plastic look and feel to people and some other things. A pretty common problem for a lot of games for whatever reasons. In particular, the people standout. It looks pretty good overall though. Can't see the final game changing much but stuff always looks different in real time compared to a compressed video.
Character models do look subpar.

copies of the game are sitting in warehouses?...so CDPR shipped out copies 2.5 weeks ahead of the December 10th release date?...I thought they said they were still working on the older gen console versions which caused the most recent delay?

yeah, but it's the "day one patch" they've been working on. that's how they were able to delay the game despite "going gold."

I don't understand all the people turning up their noses at the graphics. It looks freaking amazing. I don't see anything to complain about there. It's a complex open world game with hundreds of npcs, you can't expect the same detail on every one of them like in games with a dozen characters.

And the game doesn't look nearly as plastic as Doom 2016 / Eternal, and most were eating that game up, so why the hate for this? It seems to me, that you are having either unrealistic expectations, or just want to be contrarians for the sake of it.

No, actually he makes sense this time. He's saying the game doesn't leave enough to your imagination while playing it.
And what does that mean? How would a game leave anything to your imagination while playing it? If you are referring to the backstory, then there is no way he can know how much of that is told and left for imagination.

He obviously wants to play the tabletop version, so of course he is disappointed it doesn't leave room for imagination :ROFLMAO:

Back in the days that was common to leave a lot to the imagination, obviously the Zork kind of games was an extreme of that, but even a Quest for Glory, the character voice, mimic, most of the world, a lot was left to the imagination, a bit like a book.

When that was all a game was showing you when you visited an inn:

With written description of the situation and the other patrons, etc.., you did fill in a lot using your imagination (that was mostly just copying imagery of the movies/books/your own D&D gameplay of your past into it).

Game even a la cyberpunk still do, some of the odors, temperatures, what happen in the black or out of field of view with just sound feedback, if it happen in our world and in the future what could have happened between now and 2077, but has the more detailed to show the world they get, the less they do.

For a cyberpunk comparable, you can look at a video of playing Rise of the Dragon:

A lot was made up in the player heads.

I've played text adventure games. Kind of irrelevant in the context of cp2077. So yeah, I stand by my original statement.

Not at all, modern games benefit from it emensly, but moreso in plot and characters then what the corner of a room looked like.

Mass Effect - the reapers as an unknowable evil gave them mystery and our brains filled in the details. ME3's end could never live up to a good imagination.

Leaving out plot details, oddball characters you only see for a moment, all of that is fodder for the imagination. Jim henson did it all the time, oroginal star wars too.

Early gaming of Death Stranding is an other one recent example, even modern game with modern expectation limiting what they can do can leave to imagination most of what a movie can leave to imagination I would imagine.

I started with the most obvious to make it clear that there is little to no limit to what a game can leave to the player imagination, that was to establish that fact. Now trying to sell a text adventure would be hard in 2020, making it yes in the context of a cp2077 talk a bit empty, but the other example just below are not text adventure.

When you start to play Death Stranding for a very modern example, the player brain is filling in by speculation what they think is going on.

I agree that some of the characters look like they're made of plastic - in fact, they literally ARE made of plastic, so I'm not sure what's wrong with that.

I seriously wish I could get my hands on a 3080 and maybe even an X27 for this o.0

I travel too damn much for work so I’ll mostly be playing on my laptop anyway, hopefully it runs well on it at just 1080p. The 1080ti in the desktop might struggle a bit at 1440 uw.

I wish there was coop at launch, it’d would have been cool to explore with randoms and experiment with diff builds.

CD Projekt has dropped a new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay video (console) showcasing nearly seven minutes of action from the early stages of the Nomad lifepath...

Liked, even though I'm not going to watch it. Haven't figured out which path I'm playing first. Probably Corp...

THIS x10. Fully agree

You wrote that a game can leave nothing to the imagination while playing it which is untrue. Imagination is not limited to backstory, and games can leave plenty of things up to the user.

He never claimed to know anything, he said he was concerned that it might.

Buy Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam and you get an exclusive short story

Anyone who buys Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam, whether as a pre-order or after release, will receive an exclusive short story called '2AM — She Calls'...to be clear, this is not an in-game reward...it's a story written by Cyberpunk 2077 story lead Tomasz Marchewka that will presumably show up as a pdf in your game files...as explained on Twitter, the story "will show you the hostile streets of Night City as seen by Frank, an ex-NCPD officer working the night shift as a Combat Cab driver."

buying Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam will also net you some other exclusives, "including avatars, posters, and a wallpaper", presumably for display on your Steam profile...it's unusual for CD Projekt Red to offer exclusive items on a storefront that isn't GOG, but buying the game there will get you a different exclusive—Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams, a 50-page digital comic about scavengers in Night City written by CDPR's narrative manager Bartosz Sztybor, with art by Filipe Andrade and Alessio Fioriniello...

Will it be able to be played 2 player on Steam? A lot of games say one player but take 2nd controller and work, split screen etc.

Afraid not. If it did, it would be a hidden feature they have never mentioned or... gauging from the Trailers, designed the game around.

maybe mods, given they have some form for multiplayer planned for the future. MultiTES is a thing, but I've never tried it myself.

Impressions from people who've played it are highly positive.

+ a huge expansive rpg with great writing
+ main storyline is a very well done, engaging, coherent plot
+ enjoyable gameplay that hooks you once you get into it
+ city scale, size, crowd density and npc variety are extremely impressive
+ conversations and dialogue choices are entertaining and impactful
+ feels like an slower paced RPG not an FPS or action game
+ quality side missions with depth
+ very mature game, dark intense plots with sex and violence
+ npcs are very fleshed out, incredible different, each with in depth lore
+ does not feel like reading a book, the story/lore unfolds 'naturally' through interactions with the world/characters

+- takes a while (8-10) hours for the pace of the game to pick up
+- first person 'shooting' is kinda mediocre until you unlock certain perks

- melee combat is a bit clunky/mediocre as expected

Reading that list reminds me of what I thought of the original deus ex. Which is a good thing since imo that's one of the best games ever. The others were good but not as good as the original.

Gives me hope that this will be a great reason for me to stop playing hunt showdown so my blood pressure can drop for a bit 😂

Cyberpunk 2077 the game to end all games. Making other devs nervous I mean 2077 is 57 years from now. I suppose some Youtube influncer will be celebrating that day in 2077.
I couldn't imagine the shape of the world in 2077.

Same. Fresh install of Windows, drivers up to date, preorder complete and ready to pre-load. Even dusted out my PC for maximum GPU capability (not that it was particularly dusty to being with..) Let's go!
I really hope Best Buy doesn't screw up my pre-order. The game's been delayed multiple times, and with every delay I get an e-mail notification from them "order cancelled" followed by "sorry, we sent an e-mail in error". To make matters worse, I created the account on their site after placing an order as guest, so I can't even view the order o_O Next week will be interesting. I hope I don't miss out on PCMR CE because of this. :borg:

I wouldn't stress too much, you'll probably be fine. Absolute worst case, if they delay your order, you could buy it digitally to play it on launch and then sell off the code that the CE comes with.
