The Division 2

The teeth and fangs started to come out after I left 30 and switched to WT1.

Going up... you can ride the wave if you keep up with gear and such but there's no way around this for me: This game is tough and my soloing has diminished quite a bit.

You *can* solo everything, but a few missions are murder. The one where you face three elite bosses at once (Sniper, Rusher, LG; it's one of the two in the SE quadrant) is murder solo.

That being said, your equipment goes up fast on average, so it should take just a few control points to get the requisite gear for each stronghold.

What specialization did everyone pick once you hit WT1? I went with Demolitionist....I loved the added perks for the turret and stuff. I really like how they added these hidden perks to the specializations it really makes the game that much better.

I chose Survivalist for the AR damage buff and the healing perks. On the alt character I just leveled up I went with Sharpshooter for the rifle damage buff and headshot/stability/handling perks.

Went Demo simply because LMGs are OP right now. Will probably go Survivorlist next.

I've found the Turret to be a poor talent overall; the Drone seems so much better to me. As long as you aren't stupid with it, it will eat those annoying tech and sniper enemies alive.

Trying to solo a challenging bounty, and holy f, can't even get to it. They just have enemies spawn everywhere.

anyway for specialties, you will do them all, else points will be just wasted. you only need to determine the order. I maxed survivalist, then did about 1/2 demolitionist, now working on sharpshooter which synergizes well with current build.

It can be done. I solo'd almost all of it, and I'm an old fart on a 60hz monitor. After each WT, I would equip my highest GS items, run around to any available Control Points for the free loot room, then visit ALL the Vendors (the DZ Vendors usually had pretty good stuff) to gear up as much as I could quickly. Then I'd do Bounty's & the Invaded missions until I was happy with my setup. If you over-gear by 20 points or so, the Strongholds are not too bad. I definitely needed an LMG in reserve for the Bosses and "oh sh*t" moments. Went down several times, swore a lot, but got 'er done. :dead:

I did Sharpshooter first, got it to roughly 65%, then swapped to Demolitionist, which I'm nearly done with. Both have their perks. Can't beat Demo in close quarters, but I enjoy them both. Did Survivalist during the Betas, and will get back to it eventually. It seemed more clunky to use, but haven't tried it in the full release yet.

As far as I can tell you can hot swap specialties whenever you visit the white house correct?

Yup. In fact if you're out of Specialization ammo, you can swap to another Specialization, then back again, to refill. Hopefully they will just fix it so it refills every time we return to the BoO, but it's a useful glitch until then. Also, you can hold F to skip the mini cutscene when swapping.

Here we go, WT4. Wish me luck.

Now, i've been playing in a duo through all of this and we've both got this feeling that the mission/stronghold wise, pre-WT1 was more difficult. Maybe we just weren't used to what we needed to do back then. The versions of the missions/strongholds seemed longer with tougher bosses. Not sure.

Tomorrow we should be getting all 450 drops so just in time to hit WT5.

Side note.. Sharpshooter specialization sucks but i'm going to stick it out.

The reload and headshot buffs are particularly nice in that Specialisation. Rifle buff too, if you use it. The .50 cal does take some getting used to, but I have to admit I didnt use it much. I was a front player back in my Paintball days, so I typically put myself in close quarters situations out of habit, so take that opinion with a grain of salt.

I use the sharpshooter spec, I like to snipe in games like this, but due to the small amount of ammo you can carry I rarely use it, and ofc it is pretty useless in tight quarters.

btw is there any point in trying to conquer the map or hang on to control points? barely leaves time to do anything else as they get overrun all of the time.

In terms of loot time, Control Points give a decent amount of guaranteed gear for minimal effort. They are good for getting your GS up for each World Tier. That being said, Hard/Challenging Missions/Bounties result in more "stuff" for more investment.

I hit WT4 yesterday, and will start working on getting my GS up. Crafting station is currently maxed, but I'm assuming there will be another upgrade once WT5 hits (which means more farming Titanium :/). Once me and my crew clear the last Stronghold, we'll probably start farming for exotics in the short term, with some Dark Zone thrown in.

To a large degree, this depends on where you are at in your rank. If still ranking to 30, then yes; these give great rewards, fast travel points and refresh every 24hrs. If between WT1 & WT4, then no; each WT level clears more of the map automatically. If after WT4, then only to farm Tier 3 or higher Control Points for Blueprints; they will often change hands within minutes of you leaving one, so trying to "keep up" is indeed, pointless.

Hopefully on this week's SotG, we will get a release schedule for WT5. They usually do the maintenance about 3am for me, which is right in the middle of my evening. Sounds like I'm still going to be 2nd Shift for at least another 2 weeks, so it would be nice to know if I'll be able to play Thursday night after work or not. I'm guessing not, but one can hope. :p

there's a thread on reddit suggesting that you don't sell your trinkets. apparently random trinkets are required for some daily or weekly projects?! i had no idea, i've been selling them all (for small amounts of cash).

When I remember I do the same thing. *shrugs* Oh well. ;)

Trying to take a control point with that +4 variable...so not worth it. Had a nice run with some clan members, though.

Yeah, one of the hidden mechanics is that if a resistance leader dies you have to call for another and that resets the enemy spawns also. Was with a team last week on one of them for 30 minutes. the leader kept dying, the spawns kept coming.... finally one of the other guys dropped out... and I did also. I'd suggest if you do get one bumped to 4... that you do another... until the level falls back down to 3.

as for trinkets, they are a source of money early on, but if you care for the various missions (mostly trash rewards) they may apply. In the missions once you have one open you won't get another until you complete it. I had a hex wrench mission open for a week+, finally abandoned it. There also appears to be a glitch with a gila armor mission.

Nerfs inbound. Mk17, M700, crit damage, headshot damage. Weapon mods are being reworked, lower stats, negatives removed or lessened. skillpower also being changed, maybe to scale better and be more useful. Some talents getting nerfed to add cooldowns, like safeguard, and the one that procs ammo when your armor breaks.

I knew the Mk17/M700 Sharpshooter combo wasn't going to last. It was too good.

I only fuel up or defend CPs when I need to for a project, otherwise I want them to flip back so we can go get another blueprint asap. The more hostile CPs you have the more options for an easy (like elite patrol or elite territory control) to flip them quickly to CP3.

I play in a regular three man group and we each just grabbed one, did survivalist first and am now about a third of the way through demo. Like them both, prefer survival but demo is damned strong. I was really expecting that spec to get more of a nerf this week than it did.

20 minutes of Challenge VIP flushed down the toilet. Delta 03 disconnect. No Internet issues on my end this time.

Wow, what a mess. I had multiple Delta 03 disconnects and was lucky to get through what I just did. Best I can determine it's not on my end, either. That sure ruins the game quick.

Some cool things I noted that were announced today for the Invasion: Battle for D.C. update this Friday:
- FOV slider added
- An ‘apparel’ special event April 4th - May 2nd
- Separate sentitivitly slider for ADS
- Chem launcher will be less awkward to use and will handle more like a weapon
- Skill mods fixed
- Weapon mods reworked (I personally like the negative attribute associated with them, I guess we’ll see how they’ve changed)
- TAC 50 (the Sharpshooter rifle) will steady faster when ADS
- Light weight M4 and LVOA-C buffed. That’s good because I basically ignore them right now since they are so weak.

Sounds good so far im loving the game but I have super short play sessions right now, just hit lv 17 today. Right now my go-to guns are the m700 sniper and the lmg with the 100mag clip (can't think of the name) with the turret and healing drone. The games been super polished for me and I haven't crashed once on either my laptop or desktop, only had 1 DC and that was 2 weeks ago.

I'm interested to see where they go with the weapon mods. Right now I dont use any of them because the positives dont out weigh the negatives for me. Maybe I dont have the right ones unlocked yet but of the ones I have none of them are worth it to me.

I think the changes to the mods is a good thing. The mid level get a only positive buff, the better ones have a slight negative effect but the positive should out weigh the negative. It really should be that way because currently the negatives are just to impactful.

First taste of Challenge mode missions getting the Chatterbox today. Oof. Got through it though and crafted it.

Coming from Destiny with a very clear way to increase the power level on guns in that game, its still not 100% clear to me how to increase the Gear Score in Division. I'm 450 when I crafted it but it dropped at 440. How do I bring it up?
