Destiny 2

O man, that is a super unlucky rare bounty...

Hell it might even be worth dismantling it and waiting for a new one if you don't raid regularly.

That's probably what I'm going to do.

When are you going to be on?

I wish this game were like Borderlands...well in a number of ways...but including being able to swap and trade goodies with other players directly ,etc.

This Leviathan underbelly thing is not going to happen for me. I'm doing it perfectly but obviously not fast enough. Just another brick wall that I'm going to shrug my shoulders and move on from before too long.

I'm probably going to be back on in an hour or so, maybe a little longer. I can definitely get you through the underbelly section no problem.

1pm Eastern give or take I'll be back on. I am pretty wide open most of the day. I appreciate any help as usual. Are you in a clan yourself right now? If so... are you all active and looking for new members?

On. A. Roll!!

I seem to have good luck with getting random exotics, but not any that are specifically tied to a given activity.

Farmed Escalation Protocol today for the Ikelos shotgun, took about 5 1/2 hours of EP before it dropped. Also picked up Ace of Spades, Polaris Lance and Sleeper Simulant via their respective questlines.

Some of the weapon designs are pretty cool, too bad the restrictive inventory layout limits the fun you could potentially have with them. Should have had 4-5 slots for weapons, with no restrictions whatsoever in any slot. Any weapon goes anywhere. (except in the PvP modes where some restrictions make sense)

Speaking of Ace of Spades.
I'll never get it.
Now, granted, I'm playing on PS4 version cause I got it free so the controller hampers me.
That pathway through the crucible having to get finishing head shots = me no get the Ace of Spades.

I rule in Gambit and Strikes. My 602 power Nightstalker deals massive amounts of death but in actual pvp... I can't hit shit.

I posted a couple of links a few pages back that might help. Insight Terminus advanced sucks without a fireteam.

Boy it sure as hell does. I had to have criccio here bestow charity on me and help bail me out through that. If you can do that thing solo you are a beast amongst men.

I can't, couldn't, didn't, and won't. ;)

Wrangler: It's a PITA even with a KBM. I didn't think I was going to get it done. Sheer grit, luck, and the aligning of the moon and stars just right and finally squeeze through. ;) Make sure you do as much in a week for "powerful gear" as you can to get yourself upgraded and strong.

That's what I had to do. Set your in game fireteam to public and see if you get lucky. Just keep at it and don't burn out on it. For Escalation Protocol I liked something like Graviton Lance that did a lot of powerful damage hard and fast with that "damage spread" effect. Anything like that. The scope really helps, too. You just want to rack up damage hard and fast.

I won't lie to you... as well implemented as the controller is on these games you definitely have a little extra resistance there that isn't helping you. I can't imagine trying to do that with a controller.

It's a shame that they don't have cross platform play or at least have a setup if someone was playing on one platform they could jump to the other (PS4 to PC for example) with a nice clean lateral and maybe a nominal service charge to make the change or some such.

Drexion: I definitely wouldn't mind seeing some upgrade, expansion, and versatility options for weapons slot. I suspect many if not most Destiny gamers would agree.

For clarification: Can't do Mysterious Datapad riddle until I have Izanami's Forge (Mysterious Frame from the box) sniper, correct? Only way to get Izanami off the ground is that rare bounty situation from Ada. Any sure fire way to get said Rare Bounty? (Doing the two weeklys is a given. Spam run dailies, too?)

So confusingly in the Mysterious Box is the quest to unlock the Izanagi's Burden exotic sniper, which is separate from the Izanami Forge (annoyingly spelled slightly differently). However yes, part of completing the Mysterious Datapad quest requires the Izanagi's Burden sniper (along with a Spiteful Fang bow, Tatara Gaze sniper and Hammerhead LMG).

We followed the guide the wonderful people over at Raid Secrets put together.
You'll see Step 3 requires a full set of Forge armor but the new Forge Polymer you can get from Ada made getting that full set much easier. Pop one before forging any frame and you're guaranteed a piece of armor. My RNG was good and didn't get any duplicates.

We farmed probably 15 Kindled Orchids yesterday back to back and our rotation was this:

  • Pick up frame from Ada
  • Head to Braytech Futurescap on mars
  • On the way to the Lost Sector there, get Hand Cannon headshots.
  • Clear through the Lost Sector getting continually getting headshots until you get the 30 required.
  • Burn the boss for 10 Radiant Seeds
  • Fast travel out and burn the boss again for the next 10 running past all the mobs
  • Pop a Polymer and forge the Kindled Orchid at Bergusia (you can forge ANY FRAME at Burgusia Forge).
Rinse and repeat. I got ALL shit rolls and dismantled them all. My Surrounded/Rampage/Reload MW from day 1 will have to do.

There's really no surefire way since it's RNG, but you get them from turning in dailies and from running the Forges (maybe just the new one?).

Sure enough: I pretty much did all of Ada's dailies today and got the Macro Rare Bounty all with tasks that are definitely do-able. So now that I have that, I'm going to follow instructions to the letter.

Damn, I need 6 Schematics just to get one of those polymers? I'm going to be doing your Mars Hand Cannon run concept for sure!

Bergusia has grown on me. I can go there for anything? I had a good thing going on that perch you spawn from if you die. I was doing overwatch and it really worked out.

What a great routine this is!

I realized I left out the second "return to ada" after getting all 20 radiant seeds. What a waste of time.

Not to mention the time it takes to get to the damn Bergusia Forge.

Agreed but it definitely works. Hard to imagine a much better process except bombing to Gofannon perhaps. I have a good thing going in Bergusia. I wish there was a closer fast travel.

It's a shame it takes 6 schematics to get one of those polymers and you can't earn or something or upgrade something like in a lot of other games where it would take maybe 2 or 4 instead.

Another good spot for doing frames quickly is the Aphalon's Rest lost sector in Dreaming City. It takes about a minute on a sparrow to get there, but the boss has much less hp than the one on Mars, so the time evens out imo. I actually prefer it to Mars due to lack of explodey boys lol. Also, if you have enough mobility, you can literally jump straight up a wall to the boss on your second clear to finish the seeds.

O yeah, absolutely. That's my second favorite spot to farm for a frame. That boss was so scary when we first got to the dreaming city, now he melts in 3-4 seconds with Thunderlord.

Amazing how that it is isn't it? It's been satisfying to roll in as a 650 into places I used to have a hell of a time and issue payback and reckoning. :D

Thunderlord vs Masterworks Hammerhead... a tough back and forth. ;) Glad I have both!

I have both of those as well. I haven't masterworked the Hammerhead, but they are both excellent guns. All three machine guns in the game have the exact same amount of damage output. The Thunderlord and Hammerhead each have advantages in certain situations. The good thing is the Hammerhead frees up an exotic weapon slot so you can use the Ace of Spades, Wishender, or whatever else you want.

If that were the case, it would suck that the Thunderlord is exotic. You have to account for the increased RPM as you shoot, plus the lightning strikes. Crazy dudes on /r/dtg have run the numbers.

Hammerhead's base DPS is 3,992 with no perk bonuses (Rampage, Surrounded, High-Impact Reserves) and no mods (Boss Spec, Surrounded Spec).
Hammerhead with Surrounded up does 5,629 DPS.
Hammerhead with Surrounded Spec does 6,188 DPS.
Thunderlord's base DPS is 5,586 before spinning up, and this is accounting for thunderstrikes.
Thunderlord fully spun-up does 7,779 DPS, again accounting for thunderstrikes.
Hammerhead with Surrounded Spec and Tractor Cannon applied does 9,287 DPS.
Thunderlord fully spun-up and with Tractor Cannon applied does 10,346 DPS.
Sadly, Hammerhead cannot beat-out Thunderlord in any instance, unless you like tap-firing at enemies while surrounded. I will not account for Rampage x3, as this seems like a boss DPS scenario and as soon as Rampage falls off, your damage goes into the dumpster compared to Thunderlord.

I wish my Ace saw use outside of Crucible, its SO fun for PvE. Pair it with Chromatic Fire on my Warlock and you get the Ace's solar explosion + a second explosion matching the burn of your subclass. Nuts. I just can't sacrifice the DPS of Whisper/Thunderlord in most cases. PvP though its all Ace/Wishbringer/Hammerhead.

A nice tip for Hammerhead or Avalance is to put a Backup Mag on one for Crucible. You'll pickup 60 rounds from Power spawns instead of the normal 40. That's HUGE.

I know what you mean but I really adore Ace. Damn I love that thing.

To you and everyone else: Masterworks level the Hammerhead...it's worth it.

That sounds good. I lost track of Avalanche. I need to re-acquire it and take it for a test spin. Where is the best way I can get it?

Obviously I'm "all in" with the machines guns. :D

I'm torn on Masterworking. I have to really, really like a weapons roll to bother. My Midnight Coup, Blast Furnace and IKELOS shotgun are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

When I finally get a Kindled Orchid and Threat Level I like you can bet those will get it.

And Masterworking armor... what a waste.

I've never done it with armor and I likely never will.

Forgot to mention: Boss Spec mod on the Hammerhead. That's a beautiful thing. I need to get a few more of those somehow.

We gotta get you Whisper. Show you some big boss DPS ;-)

Only available to get on Friday through reset on Tuesday, however. Maybe next weekend a buddy and I can run you through it.

Also Sleeper but that's easy enough solo. Two critical exotic Heavy weapons you'll need for raids and dungeons, not to mention just getting them is rewarding.

Much to my amazement, I have Sleeper and I've been neglecting it.

Whisper?... Good Lord. That nightmare platforming in the dark from hell again? I guess I need those special exotic boots you had mentioned before to even remotely consider it?

Helpful but not required. The jumping isn't even the hradest part :)

I prefer backup mag on hammerhead. Brings that bad boy up to 73 rounds. Mine is Armor-Piercing Rounds/Dynamic Sway Reduction/Rampage + backup mag. 73 Round laser beam that overpenetrates and increases in damage as it kills stuff. I love that thing so much.

Nice!

Mine is (Masterworks Range) Fluted barrel, Light Mag (Might switch to extended here since I have the choice), Dynamic Sway Reduction, High-Impact Reserves, choice of spiffy Kill Tracker or Crucible kills, and Boss Spec mod which I can't overstate enough that even an "ok" player like me has been able to be a hero on a number of occasions thanks to it.

Next time I can forge some hammerheads I'll have to mess around with variants and see how I feel about it. I need to track down Avalanche again if I can. I hope I didn't lose it.

I don't get the Dynamic Sway Reduction. I haven't noticed any difference between examples of a given weapon model that has it and an identical weapon that doesn't.

Apparently it has to do with hip fire and not scope fire. "Persistence" from D1 (I'm skimming several sites discussing what this is...)

If you are like me and do a lot of scope shooting (this is practically all I do)... likely not going to have much benefit.

If I understand this correctly.

I don't do too much hip fire shit unless I'm doing Crucible matches.

Me either. I'm almost all nonstop precision kills and headshots with everything otherwise.

In Crucible it's desperation, crazy, and ugly and whatever it takes. ;)

Jotunn is hilarious fun. I recommend everyone focus their Powerful weapon frames comes tomorrow's reset if you haven't gotten it yet. PvP and PvE the thing just slays. Hard time taking it off!

I guess I'm done until the weekly reset.

Only way to get Modulus Reports is Ada's bounties and I've blown through them all. I can only get so many and spend so many on the hand cannon frame. I just got a helmet so I still need gauntlets and chest armor to finish that off.

I'm trying to think what else I can get done today to help myself.
