Destiny 2

As far as pvp goes, you're basically wasting your time if you are using anything except for pulse rifles, hand cannons, and shotguns. Snipers can be ok if you have a good one, but most of the maps are way more shotgun friendly.

Nova Warp and Spectral Blades are stupidly OP. A few months ago, SB was terrible, but I feel like they really over did it on the damage reduction buff it got (the same reason NW is so broken). If they'd bring that down a bit, it would be fine since it would be possible to kill someone using it without having to have 4 people spamming them. Blade barrage isn't much better as far as being op, either. It's an instant I Win button that recharges extremely fast if you have Shards of Galanor.

Oh hell is that what I was being consistently smashed down on in the 'rumble'? Though, amusingly, I did win one round by six or seven kills.. the others had me in the bottom being darn near one-shott'ed.

Good to know!

Yeah, Nova Warp is another one that I don't like. I've had mixed results with hand cannons and pulse rifles in PvP. I'm actually better with an auto-rifle, but the only one that works worth a shit for me is the Tigerspite. I hate it in PvE, but in PvP its definitely serviceable.

Yeah, the meta is absolutely HC's, Pulses and Shotguns. The TTK with them is just drastically lower than anything else.

Auto's, SMG's and scouts are in a really bad spot right now.

Aim/skill being equal, you'll always die to a HC/Pulse if you have an auto/smg/scout.

Threat level is a great perk. I learned this when farming precision kills with a hand cannon in my quest for the Ace of Spades.

Question: How the fuck do you guys feed shotguns in the Crucible? You start off with two shots and aside from occasionally finding a pickup from a dead Guardian, that's all you get. Ammunition you get doesn't persist through death, but I see people firing shots like mad like the shit's everywhere. I've got most of the same shotguns everyone else seems to, but I can't get enough ammunition to make them viable outside of very rare circumstances. I've got special ammunition finder on three or four pieces of armor, so that doesn't seem like the issue....

...Anytime some PvE quest forces me into the Crucible, I want to Alt-F4 the game. Its painful as fuck and not something I want to do. It makes me miss arena shooters like Quake III and Unreal Tournament 2004 where all that mattered was skill.

I hear the frustration on shotguns, I have adapted to them. In answer to this: Special/Heavy/Primary Finder does NOTHING in PVP. Green / Purple bricks only drop from players with Green / Purple ammo. What you can do is change how much ammo you get from each brick with Scavenger perks.

I run 3x shotgun scavenger perks for PVP (3x finder for PVE). Every green brick I pick up gives me 4-5 shotgun rounds. With either Parcel of Stardust (Full Choke + Accurized Rounds + Full Auto) as my kinetic or Wishbringer (Full Choke + Accurized + Full auto) as my energy depending on whether I want to hand cannon or pulse. It is not uncommon for me to have 6-9 shotgun rounds in my mag / reserves at any given point in time. This combined with full auto and slideshot (reloads) means that I can spray shotgun out like nobodies business. Similar for sniper.

I love the twist coming from the first two. But man, being on the top platform on the second round is ROUGH. If i'm on one of the bottom platforms and die during the second phase, I just stay up top. Any batteries on the bottom two platforms eventually respawn up top right under the forge.

Pro tip about that boss though, the "shield" that you spin around to get access too him can work against him if you have Sleeper. Spin it completely behind him then if your whole fireteam nails him with Sleeper, the beams overpenetrate, bounce off the shield behind him and do more damage.

If every does this, he can be taken down in 3x Sleeper shots each which takes about 4 seconds.

Sleeper Simulant? That sounds good. My Masterworks Hammerhead did pretty well but not that fast.

The first two times I was in there it just so happened that the two guys hit the platforms and I was in the center. Somehow it worked out almost like playing some game of basketball... they were chucking batteries at me and I just banging them in there. It was great.

Yeah, if you don't have it yet, work on getting Sleeper Simulant. I believe its the Violent Intel quest from Ana Bray on Mars. Its relatively easy and can be done solo.

Whisper of the Worm is another you owe it to yourself to get if only for the experience of the Whisper mission. To this day, the second best experience I've ever had in this game outside of the Shattered Throne dungeon. Definitely challenging and you're going to want a 3-man fireteam for the first time.

Its out now streamers are all trying to figure it out! I would be too if I wasn't at work.

Tea is probably going to get it first. https://www.twitch.tv/teawrex

That's great information. I appreciate it.

Super casual player here. Wife and I started playing a few weeks back. Recently hit the level 20 cap for the base game and disappointed to see it looks like about 300 is max power with just the base game? We are both around 230 or 240 is there any point to keep grinding or playing without purchasing Forsaken?

It's annoying to find those "high value targets" anywhere we go and they're 100% immune to anything you throw at them because your power level isnt 480+ or something.

Super casual solo player here as well.. I was in the same boat back near Thanksgiving. It was a fun game to a point, but yes.. that's only about a quarter of the game.

I would recommend the Foresaken DLC.. I picked it up on sale near christmas. It adds in a four or five new story lines and about as many locations.. and bumps up your level to 50, and enough light to kick those wanted asses.

Good because I'm sure there's no way I would have figured how to start that without serious hand holding. ;)

Is that in the Armory? How in the world would we have figured that out on our own?

Yeah, it's not that the other weapons can't be used, but like criccio said, assuming everything else being equal, you will lose nearly 100% of the time to someone using one of the meta guns. This is especially true if you're up against someone with a Luna's Howl or Not Forgotten (pvp pinnacle hand cannons). I believe those both have TTKs of like 0.64s or something crazy fast.

If you want to try learning hand cannons, I would suggest going with Ace of Spades. It's the best HC in the game for pvp outside of the 2 I mentioned earlier. I would suggest the following load out:

1) Ace of Spades
2) Shotgun of your choice (I personally like Mindbender's Ambition)
3) Hammerhead LMG

That's actually my setup. I can get kills with the Ace of Spades, but I'm not nearly as good with it as I am an auto-rifle. In PvE, I kick ass with it and can usually get far more kills in strikes or Gambit than other players regardless of their loadout. For shotguns I've got Badlander's, Wishbringers, the Ikelos shotgun and probably a few others. My current LMG is the Hammerhead. Although, the perks on mine aren't amazing.

Ok I'm going to ask at least one or several likely VERY stupid questions.

In my inventory I have the following:

Forging the Future weekly bounty.

I also have Dreaming City Calibrated Frame and Destination Calibrated Frame respectively. They say "complete any forge activity."

So I took all of this and went into Izanami and NOTHING happened whatsoever. No percentage uptick on the weekly... nothing. So I'm not exactly sure what these want respectively? Wrong Forge? Nothing specified past what I wrote.

Forging the Future is always one of two Weekly Bounties Ada-1 has. It should only require 2x full Forge completions (so kill the boss at the end). One completion should net you 50%. It's reward should be a Ballistics Log which will allow you to purchase a Powerful Weapon Frame (of whatever is available that week) from Ada-1. The second Weekly Bounty is to complete 7 Daily Bounties which also rewards you a Ballistics Log. You should be able to forge 2 Powerful Weapon frames per week and again, these are Powerful so if you're still chasing Power Level, these will help.

The other two aren't powerful weapon frames but should complete just the same. I can't remember off the top of my head what specifically they require. Sure they don't say anything else? The Powerful frames always require a specific Forge but they also say so in the description.

Exactly.

So I was confused when I went through Izanami and we beat it once and it was done and I didn't get any percentage uptick on that whatsoever. I had done last week's. I want to get that Hand Cannon off the ground and need that Ballistic Log.

No specific location of information. The rewards are "Augmented Weapons" for these two.

Calibrated Frame Forge Vessel Rare. One says Destination Calibration Frame and the other says Dreaming City Calibration Frame. Both have identical descriptions that say "Forge Ignition Completion" checkbox waiting to be filled and all it says is craft by completing any forge activity. Nothing else anywhere.

EDIT:

Duh! So you get lucky... it will prompt you if you are heading towards the "correct" forge even though it doesn't ID it on the description. Oh well, there's only 3 so far. At least there's a solution now. :)

I'm all set. I'm not going to be hitting that new Forge quest until I see the smoke clear a little bit more and see what you all say.

Been watching Teawrex all day at work. This puzzle to unlock the last forge is absolutely insane. Good thing only one team needs to actually finish it to unlock the forge for everyone lol.

12 hours later, Gladd and Datto sound tired.

Guess I'm not playing the new forge tonight. This is crazy, its like a worlds first raid race.

Long/short: Level with me... ain' no way someone is getting to that new forge solo, right?

Hell, I'm going to have to set up a time and get together with any of you and we all just need to match up and get this SOB done.

I'm at the point I'm ready to join a new clan as well since my original one is console based. I do mooch off of some of their rewards that the group racks up but that's about all the good it does me otherwise my above offer stands regardless. I have my fireteam set to public so if anyone sees me...drop me a note...get to me...whatever. Without hesitation.

Well once it's unlocked, it should be unlocked for everyone. Though, we'll know more once they finally get it.

Yeah, I started watching Datto for a while after Tea's crew threw in the towel for the night. Datto was just tired and frustrated at that point. They had reached a point of having no idea how to solve the 6th puzzle, and no one had any clue how to proceed outside of random word guesses based off Arthurian lore.

I'm all for a good puzzle, but this one has crossed the line into being awful, imo. When an entire hive mind of people that are used to solving Bungie's riddles get completely stumped after 12+ hours, it's crossed into not fun territory. It doesn't help that you had to repeat the entire process every single time to get to the point of having 30 seconds to throw out the next idea.

Absolutely. Its become straight up absurd. I'm quite positive when it comes to Destiny but this is starting to break me. This puzzle seems to be catered solely to streamers and people without day jobs and/or Arthurian lore scholars and cryptologists. They may have missed the mark with the difficulty level a bit.

A few hundred people actually getting close to figuring this out isn't a real "community event".

Not to mention, what is going to be the reward for all this? Just another forge? I just fear they've built up this hype for Bergusia with a ultimately unimportant hurdle in front of something we already know (the forges).

Yeah they realized they went too far with this one lol.

On Reddit, bungie said that the biggest complaint is the lack of checkpoints. I really think if they had just added a couple of those to begin with, this would have been solved by now. It's a ton of work to go through like 15+ minutes of phases just to be able to try one idea for the next solution.

Got the notice Bergusia discovered by players and I see it on the EDZ map. Nice!

I’ll wait.
I mean it's there but no one solved the puzzle. Bungie gave in and opened the forge anyway as no one was able to solve it in 29 hours.

I think someone just solved it.

O boy, where to begin. I haven't even been paying attention to all the crazy stuff the streamers have already got today (Jotun AND Izanagi's Burden already unlocked??) but this is where I am...

Quest step spoilers ahead so if you wanna do it all fresh, stop now!

Visiting Ada today, she presents you with a quest that's first step is to kill 24 "Watchers" in the Leviathan Raid Underbelly. Now, this is pretty easy and can be done solo. You can just farm one Watcher room over and over, takes 10 minutes. Each one you kill drops some material that you pick up, i can't remember the name. The next step is to gather more of another kind of material (i'm clearly bad at remembering the details) by completing Public Events OR Strikes. You need 100 of these and you get 20 per strike.

Next step is to actually run the new Burgusia Forge at maximum charge (so you need to shoot the drones between the rounds) and get the key from the chest that spawns at the end. The forge itself is pretty cool but not all that unlike the first 3. Lots of Arc damage so the Riskrunner strat is still viable. I went with my standard Threat Level/Kindled Orchid/Whisper combo. The boss is a walker so.. it was pretty trivial.

Opening the box at the end you the final Black Armory key to unlock the Mysterious Box! However, opening the box just gives you a Decryption Machine, or something.. and a Mysterious Datapad. The Decryption Machine requires you to turn in a Rare Black Armory bounty which occasionally drops from turning in normal Daily Black Armory bounties from Ada. By some crazy coincidence, I happened to have a fully complete Rare bounty that I hadn't turned in yet just sitting there so I turned it in. The Mysterious Datapad.. well I have no idea, i'll be reading/watching all that stuff later.

This is where I am.. the next step is to run the Shattered Throne (again!) to collect more "things"...

Also, I know a future step is run the Forges (i'm not sure on the details) with a full Forge armor set so make sure you're keeping those armor pieces each week.. HOWEVER, Ada-1 now sells a new item that lets you forge a new armor piece along with weapon frames called Forge Polymers so always make sure to buy one from her.

Holy crap, so much.. Calling it a night at this step as the buddy i normally play with didn't have a Rare bounty to turn in.

I got to the Shattered Throne part of the line as well before calling it a day. I had a partially finished rare bounty that I was able to knock out. The data pad solution can be found on Reddit. I want to say you get an emblem and triumph for completing it. I haven't done it just yet, though. As far as the new exotics go, Jotun is a random drop from powerful frames (just like Le Monarch) completed at the new forge. Izunami's Burden is from the long quest line that for the box.

Ugg .. pick up groups can be so frustrating. Did the first forge last night and we failed with the tiniest of margins. The warden had a hairline of yellow bar left when we ran out of time .. and one of the guys was shooting adds instead of the boss. Almost as bad as depositing 100 motes and killing 16 guardians and still losing a gambit match.

So to finish the Mysterious Box and get the Black Armory key I have to do Leviathan first, is that correct? If so then I'm going to have to try and meet up with some people to get that done or I'm hosed.
