Man, there are some salty people out there. People were complaining about me in Deathmatch playing as Pharah.
I played 5 games, 3 Free for All and 2 Team Deathmatch, won all 5 matches and random people in all matches were complaining about me using Pharah, WTF????

F them, man.

For a team-based game there are a lot of whiny selfish players out there. You can tell when people are extra vocal about which characters you pick.

Deathmatch is free for all, so it's you against the other 7 people. And Pharah is quite hard when you have McCree's Soldiers, Torbs, and Genjis trying to kill you.

In Team games, I usually get asked to play as Pharah at the start of the match when they look at my playtime stats, I've got over 400 hours playing her.
I am not the greatest Pharah player, but I can hold my own in my ranking.

You do realize, I hope, that you're playing against other people on the Internet and if you're better than them even in slight degrees they're going to bitch, moan, and whine incessantly because of you being even slightly better than them, right? Right?

This is the eternal situation where when you're better you'll never really be praised for it but instead lambasted constantly every time you encounter the same or even new individuals, it's just the nature of the situation.

People complain about me using McCree and winning most of my FFA matches. *shrugs* McCree is one of the hardest characters to be good at in the game.

Was bored so I put together my complete stats for Pharah. This was screen capped a week or so ago, just didn't get around to putting it together.

Game is still going strong. D-va and Mercy changes are in. Mercy is insane right now. If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl

Played yesterday and was hilarious at the reaction after the FFA match.

Glad to see they made Ressurrerect a single-use ability (I even suggested such a thing awhile back); it should be healing-based though like the TF2 Medic IMO (basically make it charge-based - expend a charge to revive teammate).

I got into the game for a couple of months recently but quickly tired of the endless Defense Matrix and Winston bubble spam negating so many shots, along with Mercy's rez simply negating entire battles.

Valkyrie (New Ultimate Ability)
  • Valkyrie unleashes the full power of Mercy’s Valkyrie suit, enhancing her weapons and abilities for 20 seconds
  • Caduceus Staff: Mercy's healing and damage boosts beams now affect all allies near the targeted teammate, and the staff's effective range has been extended
  • Caduceus Blaster: Now has infinite ammo and increased projectile speed
  • Guardian Angel: Increased range and movement speed
  • Resurrect: Cooldown is instantly reset when Valkyrie is activated and reduced to 10s after the initial cast
  • Hover: Mercy gains the ability to fly freely, at increased movement speed
  • Regeneration (Passive): No longer interrupted when Mercy takes damage
But that sounds stupid as hell - 20 seconds of beast mode plus a free ressurrect reset?

Mercy is almost a must pick now more than ever before. She's really good, especially with the tempo res. If you're not starting off with a mercy you're basically playing against a 7v6 right off the hop.

speaking of 7 players, for some reason it said we had 7 players in chat on our team, lol

I agree. If you don't have a Mercy, it's extremely tough to win. She's insanely OP. D-va changes have turned her a into a bit of a DPS/Tank hybrid. Overall, i'd still call it a nerf. I like them mixing it up, but the Mercy change went way too far.

I really like this new patch. McCree indirectly gets buffed due to DVA nerf. And more picks are viable now.

I agree, the DVA nerf helped DPS across the board in general. Now if only she'd stop eatting my Zarya gaviton ult!

Overwatch League just started and they have customized team skins that you can purchase.
They are 100 tokens each, 100 tokens start at $4.99. Every player gets 100 tokens free to get one free skin. Signing up for Overwatch League updates gets you another 100 tokens.

I used my 200 tokens for these 2 skins,

I have to say that I am enjoying the Overwatch league a lot more than I thought I would. I picked Dynasty for DVa and Fusion for Orisa.

I chose them for the looks. I like the color schemes.
I am a fan of the League, but I don't have a favorite team yet.

So you went that route. I'm in the boat where it seems like the teams I like more have skins that don't work whereas the teams I like the least have the skins I like the most.

I suspect a lot of people chose the Dynasty skin. It's the best color combo. It doesn't make the characters look like a McDonalds' Happy Meal or a Little Tikes toy.

I'm not using my credits because I don't care about OWL.

Still needs proper FOV support as this game causes motion sickness like none other. They anchored FOV to the wrote plane and did the numerics incorrectly. It's why your own hands seem so close. Your eyes are about a foot in-front of your head. Improper modern 21:9 support. Outdated the day it was released. This is nothing new for Blizzard. Bad support for resolutions/fov etc. Even Startcraft 2 can't handle large monitors etc etc. Why not just support automatic black bars or game data on the sides and still center everything correctly on large screens? The FOV is the big killer though. I can't play this game over 10 minutes without puking. I can play Battlefield 1 and Battlefront 2 all day long without any such issue. The 2013 TombRaider and Rise of the Tombraider also anchored FOV in the wrong spot. Witcher 3 did as well but eventually added a proper FOV slider to allow in game correction. PS Does anyone have the "Cheat Engine" TombRaider 2013 CT file that includes the FOV fix?

The devious thing they did is support better FOV and Resolutions in the Beta to get you to buy the game then bait and switched the options off after launch. Unforgivable.

FOV is a preference that people seem to mistake as something games need to accommodate them for. You’re used to it a certain way, not all games will have it implemented identically and it doesn’t mean it’s done wrong.

If you’re sensitive to motion sickness that’s not the games fault. That’s like a diabetic complaining there aren’t many options at the candy store to choose from.

FOV for 21:9 is done "wrong" in Overwatch. 16:9 and 21:9 have the same horizontal field of view, which means 21:9 has a cropped image. When they finally added 21:9 support, some emotes had the characters heads off of the screen since the image was zoomed in.
They fixed that issue but we are still stuck with a zoomed in cropped image.

I play in 2!:9 mode since I enjoy having the screen filled, so I deal with the gimped 21:9 image.

an older POTG, Solo Ulted, got a quintuple kill and stopped the enemy from capping A.

Sextuple kill without the Rocket Barrage killing anyone,

This was interesting, both ours and their Zarya's did a Graviton and me and the other Pharah both did Rocket Barrages at nearly the same time.

some newer ones from last week.

A Highlight

I used to really like the game and play it religiously when it first came out....now I sincerely hope it, Overwatch League and all the bullshit Blizzard peddles fail and disappear into oblivion.

Yeah I solo queue QP daily for about am hour and there's nothing really big i've noticed as far as toxicity. Can't speak of competitive though, I ignore that like the plague.

Does happen sometimes we get some jerk but that's kind of rare. Now if we're talking toxic character choices that's another story. I never tell anyone they should change or anything, but I still refuse to accept genji on a defense map. :)

Well they are not going to let you see more then someone with 16:9 since it's a competitive e-sports game.

This kind of thing has been an issue ever since AMD Eyefinity/Nvidia Surround came out. While there were certainly a few lol-worthy instances of whether 16:9 was an "unfair advantage" vs 4:3 back in the day, when ultra-wide triple-monitor setups became more commonplace it really became apparent that you needed to do your homework before throwing down your hard-earned cash. Nothing is worse than spending money on 3 monitors or 1 expensive ultra-wide monitor only to discover that your favorite games don't even work properly.

For some games it's due to the engine used and how the developer has implemented FOV - some just don't consider much beyond 16:9. For games like this, the developer has made a conscious decision to disallow the wider FOV that would normally accompany 21:9, hence the "wrong" descriptions above. It's not the end of the world to some people, but if you're the type that tends to play a select few games then it can be really frustrating to have essentially wasted your money on expensive tech. I'm playing a lot of Fortnite these days and EPIC's stance is the same as Blizzard's is for OW, so I'm simply not going to buy a 21:9 however awesome they look to me.

got robbed of POTG, not too long after this a Pharah got a sextuple kill

Getting switched to working nights has really eff'ed up my competitive play. I game at like 6am now and the people on then are miserable.

Dropped from 1750 to 1450 or so. The lower I go the more stupid the team lineups become. 4dps is just the usual in the 1400s it seems.

Been awhile, now that I have a machine capable of actually playing this game (a ThinkPad W541 with a decent GPU even if it is tied to the crappy Intel GPU because of the stupid Optimus BS) I'm planning to have some fun this Memorial Day weekend as Blizzard and the community are celebrating the 2 year anniversary of Overwatch. They put up this cool video earlier, it's short and sweet but the second one showing how it was made is even more awesome - the sheer amount of time and work put in to create the anniversary video is humbling to say the least. Those people that made the stop-animation work so well + the creative people at Blizzard who not only make the game and support it but also create those awesome cinematic movies for the character backstories are crazy talented people.

Here's to many more years of Overwatch...
