Yeah, that's what I meant - I've never bought the game 'cause I never really had a machine that could play it. I did have a decent rig way back when and was involved in the beta but I haven't really done anything with it since then, like early 2016. So I'll be checking it out this weekend when it's free to play, if this machine can handle it and I'm "game" then I'll be buying it soon. Way behind the curve, obviously, and the whole Overwatch League thing has been interesting to watch of late as well, it's crazy how good some of those players are in terms of accuracy and just killing it (pun intended).
 
Hope e get sum cooler hero's down the road. Never really cared for the newer ones besides sombra. I eventhough saw an old clip of the overwatch rOster and they had alot of cool looking characters

If I don't get what I want, then I may be inclined to actually buy loot boxes to try and get the items I want.

Have not played regularly in a long time but each time you played you earned in game currency that you could go in and unlock a fair number of items. Can probably go unlock a bunch right now unless they changed that set up.

Even before you hit level 500 you'll probably have unlocked every regular item you've wanted and this is if the bulk of the boxes came from when you could still commonly get duplicates. It's only even items that you might feel pressured to unlock.

You get a box every time you level (about 2 hours of game play) or from other activities. The boxes contain items or coins. You also get coins if you get a duplicate item (although very low chance now unless you've unlocked everything in the common drop tiers).

Coins can then be used to unlock a specific item you want.
 
After all of the times I have been snuck up on this was my feel good moment for today.

You can also get the Team Hero Skins for your characters. Linking your Twitch Account to your Blizzard Account and watching the live matches will net you tokens that you can use to purchase the team skins.
Or you can purchase the tokens, which cost $5/100 tokens, and buying more tokens nets you a better deal. Each skin is 100 tokens.
They also give out random 100 token bonuses after each broadcast, I've gotten 5 100 token bonuses so far, actually got 2 in one day.

been practicing with Widow, had a really good game just now in Comp Deathmatch,

 
They added a pretty notable update this week with a looking for group system along with an endorsement system. The LFG system has some areas to improve but it's a pretty big change in terms of playing the game.
 


Waits for this character to get his own Porn I mean if you can get excited about a Hamster your probably on the wrong planet. Unless you own a pet Hamster I suppose they had to balance out D.VA having her own Mecha.
 
I really with Project Titan was another WOW game I wonder if they will ever attempt to make another?

I couldn't be happier that Project Titan was dropped as an MMO because OW is so fantastic. I doubt it would've been nearly as cool.

Not that I'm anti-MMO, i still play FF14 all the time. I do wish we had more dedicated story stuff like an animated series or a spinoff game possibly even the original MMO if it was more story driven and less WoW-esque. Something that went a bit more in depth than the stuff we currently have.
 
Got back into Overwatch comp again, so much fun with friends! Just destroyed these kids with this.
 
What do you guys (who play OW) think about all the OW bashing that's going on right now?

I'm finding the game much less fun to play than I used to. The new stun mechanic is frustrating as hell, and the game seems, to me, to be unbalanced more than it ever has before. I'll play it once in a while, play two or three games, then shut it down for days.
 
It’s toxic within the game itself.


Yes it’s very annoying that they stun from what appears to be 1/2 away on the map.


I play alone or with the hubs and we normally loose but card every single time (him mostly damage done and me with either block or healing).

Comp finds a way to even out so our SR does not change much.

I give it another month or two for all the new x-mad players to leave the game

I think it's entirely deserved. I picked it back up recently when a bunch of RL friends got the game basically free in the Humble Bundle (I've had it since launch). The game is fun but the balance is a joke and they barely add content.

A company trying to build a professional e-sports league should not be making huge, largely untested changes to the game and then leaving them untouched for 6-12 months; this isn’t like regular sports where you’re dealing with rules of a game established 100 years ago. Worse, these changes often seem to be executed not to achieve balance, but by simply dumpstering a particular hero to eliminate the problem of the day...and then they just leave it like that for months. If the console update (fees) are the problem then they should be using the PC version to test our more frequent tweaks, then roll out a larger update to the consoles.

When you compare this kind of development with something like Fortnite, you get the impression that the game is basically in maintenance mode with only a few people working on it. There doesn't seem to be any one particular vision for what Blizzard wants the game to be or we would see FAR more tweaks and updates to the game. And sure, this is where someone will say "but Fortnite is F2P" and you would be right, except that Blizzard has actively promoted and pumped huge $$$ into OW as an e-sport. No one is going to watch Overwatch League if the game dies on the vine.

I feel that the rate they release content is pretty decent. I wouldn't mind a new set of Brawls but that's maybe it. I agree its probably in maintenance mode but that's fine by me.

I couldn't care less about OWL or competitive as a whole. I've stuck with QP and arcade since launch and still play the game about an hour or a day when i get the chance.

Whats the bashing that's going on? If it's the mess with the Contenders and the fake account thing then I don't really care about it. It's more an indictment on the people than the game.

And whats the new stun mechanic? Unless you're refer to Bidg's damage reduction.

I play for 15 minutes I throw up all over my desk. The FOV being incorrect on every character where you are to far forward into your hands sets off my motion sickness immediately in this game. What is odd is the beta allowed more adjustment and I got to play for hours with no issues but then the bait and switch occurred after my preorder where they limited the FOV options and ever since I have been unable to play. I honestly felt mugged. I havn't purchased a single thing from Blizzard since.
 
I wish they would allow high oddball resolutions.

Its the only game aside from Mortal Kombat I have that doesn't support 3840x1080
 
I gave up on OW a long time ago sadly :( They keep fiddling with balance and breaking things more and more. Occasionally they get a few things right but then something else is messed up. Performance is a weird one as well. I'm playing 1920 x 1200 and I have to drop my GPU OC to almost stock settings or the game crashes lol.

I play maybe 2 or 3 games every 2 or 3 months hoping something got better but always finding it worse off :( At least some of the characters recently are interesting even if their abilities seem a little over the top.

Have you read about the PTR changes? It seems like they are trying to counter GOATS. But they did it by making huge changes. Why can't they make very small, incremental changes? Everything is a knee-jerk.

With OWL starting soon the thought is that Blizz is very concerned about GOATS (Go All Tanks/Supports) dominating the new season and making for a really bland viewer experience (no DPS). I think the nerf to armor is an interesting idea as it affects a huge percentage of the hero roster, and the Defense Matrix cooldown nerf is long overdue. The Reaper buff from 30% life steal to 50% has potential to go completely off the rails, however, and absolutely should not get pushed to live without significant testing...that said, any stun will basically stop him in his tracks and maybe that's what they're banking on.

Unfortunately, when Blizz makes these kinds of huge changes they don't simply revert them if they end up ruining the game balance. They just...leave them in, usually for months.

Personally I play a lot of Pharah, and if that's not working I'll often switch off to S76 (I appreciate movement speed and his all-around kit), so the armor change is pretty interesting to me as I'll get 2 more damage per bullet vs armor.

Something I haven't seen anybody talk about was the impact the armor nerf will have on Zen. I was under the impression that 75% of Zen's "health" is armor. That's why it regens. Wouldn't that make Zen ultra-squishy?

Blizzard needs to realize that e-sports aren't worth a damn if the changes they make to make e-sports exciting drive everybody else away from the game.

Zen has 50 health and 150 shield which regens - armor doesn't regen.

Well well well, Blizz is implementing role queue and enforcing 2/2/2 starting September 1st (PTR on PC immediately, coming soon to PS4/Xbone):



Personally I've been dissatisfied with the (IMO) awful balancing in OW, but this could certainly go a long way. Will definitely fire it up again.
