It really does look amazing. I'm fairly impressed.

This isn't open development, open development would mean we'd have access to financials as promised in the older TOS and would be able to see software development issue tracking systems as well as project plans. All CIG does is release marketing materials.Blindly? How can you say blindly when CIG is more open about the development process than most other developers? I probably would have lost interest too if they gave us nothing to show for, but they frequently show us that the game is coming together nicely. 3.0 will be a huge leap, and once all the mechanics are in place they will just need to create content, which is a breeze for them. Squadron 42, which should be out by later this year/early next year, will be a good indicator for how the core gameplay will be for Star Citizen.
What makes you think fans are blindly following the game? Have you been keeping up on the game since you lost interest?

Yes they are already on your account ready to flyI think they are just available in game for a week- fly them both and vote for your favorite.
Oh I see my wording could be interpreted as them giving them as a free purchase (oxymoron). Sorry. They are just unlocked for every backer to try until next Friday, just spawn in Crusader and the ship will be available there to fly.how? im not showing this on the order page. i have already commited to several packages, would do $45 to get 2-3 more ships.

Sean [Tracy] is working hard on it with a bunch of talented people, so that's [how] we're showing off the potential of V2 planets and some of the cool stuff and play action that can happen in 3.0. We're […] taking one of the missions that's in Squadron 42 and showing how that would feel, from the briefing, to the ship, to taking off, to the mission, and the combination of flying and FPS stuff, so those are the two things we're going to show. We're going to show full-focus this is what V2 planets can do for you, then this is what Squadron 42 is going to feel like and play like, and this is the experience of a mission in SQ42.
"This is the first time we will show more complete gameplay. We showed last year at CitizenCon the walking around, talking character stuff, but it was very early. Our character tech has come on -- if you look at that and quality of characters compared to last year, it's night and day. I truly feel like our character stuff that we're showing is best in class at the moment. We're going to show a more complete: Here you are, you wake up on the ship, you get your briefing, do your mission. This is what one sequence of events, or what we call 'chapters,' of the game would feel and look like.”
While I would really love to see SC succeed, one does have to step back and sort of take in the big picture...
At what point does the inability to publically set and meet a project release deadline of an actual commercial game begin to become a thing?
The feature creep and continual expansion of scope will eventually sink this ship. The can has been kicked so long, hard and far down the road that it no longer resembles a can, but more a ragged amorphous blob of shapeless tin at this point.
Eventually the funding will slow down as more and more backers begin to weary of the never ending ride and the "we are still working it and it's going to be great" mantra becomes too stale to swallow any longer.
While what has been shown looks nice, I can't help but feel that a viable, functioning game is still nowhere in sight as Roberts and company continually pump out eye candy and marketing goods to keep the revenue support stream alive.
I can't help but feel like the entire thing is a well intentioned science project gone wrong... where funding without accountability is taking place. There is much neat art being pumped out as well as bits and pieces of gaming specific tech, but I have yet to see any real cohesive game play mechanics or a game infrastructure being demonstrated as to how this will turn into something I'd actually want to play. Flying a ship and running around in a FPS space station themed environment blasting things have all been done many times before... I can't help but feel that the end result (circa late 2018) will be more a great looking and highly complex, souless tech demo that showcases some really cool art then a real, viable game that I'd actually want to play.
Really hope it works out for all the backers in the end, but I never drank the kool-aid and remain a skeptic.
going to try voice attack and a hcs pack and then get used to it along with mouse and KB. I also have an Xbox one controller I will try before sinking money into a hotas or dual flight stick. I do like the immersion so I will see what suits me the best
Many ships are getting huge cruise speed increases (I can't be too specific but for example the Constellation is more than doubling its current 425m/s cruise speed).
