Far Cry Primal

Also, I still haven't played FC4 yet, 'cause I refuse to pay more than about $25 for a glorified expansion to FC3. So yeah, I'm definitely in no rush to buy Primal.

Just get FC4 + Hurk DLC when it's on sale next. If you liked FC3, you're gonna like FC4 even more.

Oh yeah, it's still near the top of my wish-list, loved FC3. Just haven't seen 4 go on a decent sale yet. I've got plenty to play and all the time in the world to wait. Will seriously snag it as soon as it hits about $20.

Probably same for Primal... we'll see.

People do like to move the goalpost these days. FC4 is an "expansion"? It certainly is its own game. Even if you don't value it at full price, calling it an expansion is a joke.

I'm not sold on Primal. Not into the theme much. They could have revised FC2's theme, actually did something with the story and dropped the stupid character/idiot theme of FC3/4. Or dinosaurs & guns. :p

One, you lock the target, two, you bait the line
Three, you slowly spread the net and four, you catch the man...

omg i think it'll be totally awesome i can see it already, i'll be like the ultimate badass apex hunter motherfucker WANT!

Novel setting, I will give Ubi that......but I am still expecting Tower Climbing Simulator 2016.

Yeah, I'm going to approach this one cautiously. I really really wish it was a dino game... kids would get a kick out of it if it was. Not sure how I feel about Elephants (mammoths) / Tigers / bears / wolves again...

Looks meh. I'm glad I'm not excited for it because I already have a backlog and am super excited for the next Deus Ex.

Fight mammoths and other tribes with sticks and bows? Looks like it'd get old real fast.

The more I think about this, I think putting the Far Cry name on this was a horrible idea. I really hope they change their minds before they get much farther in development. Fighting with primitive weapons really does sound boring and not at all like any other farCry games. The one thing that ties Far Cry games together so far is they're all set it modern time and they all have great modern gun play. This doesn't fit the bill at all. Would almost fit more to lump it into the Assassins Creed series.

Really hoping they change their minds and make it more like Blood Dragon, go through a time machine and fight dinosaurs with big space guns.

And/or make Primitive its own new IP franchise.

Looks fucking stupid. I hope the primal shit is just an acid trip or something and you can use guns otherwise.

Farcry is a great game, no doubt about it. But it seems like they are releasing them too damn fast and there are not really substantial changes between each. Like one of the characters said in FC3, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over (and expecting different results). That is FC in a nutshell, doing the same thing over and over. That can be fine but it gets tiresome. So you probably have a reskinned FC with different weapons, some crafting and expansion of the animal enemies in FC4. Seems like the base capture mechanic will be intact as you expand your empire. It really sounds like a mod. Compare to blood dragon. They did not pretend it to be a new IP. It was just a silly cheap game that was fun to play.

that trailer did not get me interested in playing the game...in fact it had the opposite effect...reminded me of Assassin's Creed 3 for some reason with that extended hunting part

Can we expect an as long SP as the last two?
If so, Im down. We'll see it it's a good game.

Two issues Im concerned about.
Weapons and upgrades.

There is like four weapons maybe five that I can think of from the stone age.
Sling shot with rocks
spears
Bow and Arrow
Traps

Don't tell me you can upgrade these and they become extremely ahead of their time, because that's too much.

The Last of Us says hi.

Once everyone knew it had zombies in it, it sold....
The name is new, but the content(zombies) isn't, which happens to be one of the hottest trends in entertainment these days....so no, I disagree.

I wonder how Watch Dogs sales compared to Far Cry 4, though?
Naughty Dog could release Poop Simulator 2015 and it would be a #1 seller.

I'd say the same about Ubisoft, as they are a big publisher. Anything they announce, people will pay attention. They didn't need to put the name Far Cry just to get people to pay attention.

Whether people will buy it, I think it still comes down to the game itself, as anyone can see it's different from Far Cry franchise. I don't think anyone would buy it with the expectation of getting more of Far Cry 3/4.

Not zombies, fungus people. It's different! :D

So what about Dying Light? Don't think that even came close to Last of Us sales and that was multiplatform.

TLOU released at a perfect time IMO, well before Dying Light. As well, the reviews alone for TLOU smack Dying Light around. By the time Dying Light came out, the fame and attention was already on TLOU for some time, and it's quite hard to beat something that's on top.

It's obvious that the majority of zombie fans like a well written story on top of the gritty and brutal showdown. haha

I loved FC 1 and 3 was fun. They were very similar. I kind of miss the tropical setting. Whenever i played the game i felt like I was immersed in a tropical island! lol I just dont know how they are going to form a story around a bunch of cavemen lol I own FC4 but still havent gotten around to playing it but i hope its similar to FC 1 and 3. Also, havent finished Bdragon!

This looks like a far cry I can get into, never really got into them except FC1. Melee weapons, ala skyrim and dying light, seem more fun to me.

Lots of killing with fire. Like this cave guy can take down a mammoth with his little spear. Come on.

Really looks meh.

Maybe it'll have like a gatling spear gun or something.

So they took elephants/hunting mechanics and spun it into its own game, then mixed in a little bit of that Indie plane-crash survival game for good measure.

This is more like a FC4.5. A side jump to fill the gap for FC5 production. It's probably a glorified mod made from artists with limited coder support (kinda like the midcard games between things like BF42 and BF2 [DICE/EA] or AC2 & AC3). Typical Ubisoft fashion.

There was a time that these wouldn't be full price.

Maybe it'll have like a gatling spear gun or something.

You've gained a Primal Point, upgrade your spear thrusting power!

I think the idea of surviving the remote wilderness by yourself was a good idea. They should have gone with that. Seems boring at first, but they could do a lot with it.

- Intense beginning where you're in a small plane with a hunting party, big intense moments of turbulence and the plane goes down and rips apart, sending you flying out of the fuselage as well as your friends, all separated. You wake somehow alive and alone, without your gear.

- Beginning goal would be searching for your gear and survivors

- gather your gear over the course of the game, as the plane of course scattered everything over the course of many miles, eventually you get lucky and find a rifle and some ammunition (you were in a hunting group)

- find another survivor or two

- fight off the elements and predators

- survive avalanches, falls into ice revines, mend wounds

- lots of climbing

- attempt to make your way to civilization

Eh, I guess it might be a bit boring. They would really have to do it well but Knowing ubisoft though, they would probably add some cliff hanger plot into the mix and have you chased by terrorists or some shit

Do you have to climb giant coconut or banana trees and pick the fruit to "liberate" them so that the fog of war lifts to uncover portions of the map? :p

J/K...I'm kind of torn on this one. It may be an intriguing game world setting, but if there's going to be any semblance of time period accuracy, then there will be limited skills, weapons, crafted items, etc...and this could become a repetitive borefest. Who knows - maybe you play characters, each from small snippets of a very long timeline, that you have to do things like discover fire and invent the wheel as mission goals before moving on to the next snippet. There is quite a bit they could do with this setting, I guess...

I'm very dissapointed they aren't adding the map editor to this game.

I spent probably 200+ hours creating my own maps in FC 4, well worth the $60 just for that!

It be so awesome to build a world in the stone age. Bah!

Looks fun to me, something original and fresh, would rather have this than yet another modern day combat game. Sounds goofy, but I wish they could make a sequel set in the Jurassic age somehow, would require something cheesy like time machines though.

I'd take firearms instead of this any day. And its honestly not that unique. There is no shortage of games with old weapons - Witcher, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed and just about any RPG/adventure game really. All right, maybe there are no towns as you're playing cavemen but that is a minor difference.

I'd take shooting dinos with guns over this. :p

It looks...kind of cool. Overall seems way too similar to the other games, and they're trying to make up for the lack of guns with being able to control animals I guess. Which is pretty cool but I'm not sure it's enough to carry the game.
